Not impressed

May 16th, 2019

I’ve frequent this hotel and found inconsistent experiences. I’m a Marriott Ambassador, never got an upgrade, the room was way beyond its price point at >$550.00, the young female gift shop attendant got a lecture from me about customer service - she was rude and completely disengaged. I’m done with this hotel, leadership need to get more involved. The hotel is not a typical JW standard, the executive lounge is ore like a cafeteria, the rooms are below average - zero recognition for Ambassador Status... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Delighted with our Stay

May 13th, 2019

My husband and I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the CIBC Theatre. What we found was that it is a great location and within walking distance of many sites we wanted to see in Chicago. The hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. We loved the comfortable bed! Every staff person we spoke with was gracious and helpful. That includes the front desk, concierge, doormen, and staff in the bar and Florentine restaurant. We always enjoyed our breakfast at the Executive lounge, and the friendly service. Our dinner at the Florentine restaurant was excellent, and we appreciated the portion selection. Overall, it was a great stay and we’d go back. Highly recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pretty Good Stay

May 12th, 2019

First and foremost I must commend the staff manning the chat function of the app. I leaned on it heavily during my stay and staff at all hours were consistently responsive and helpful. On the concierge desk I received great service from Mat and Erik. Check in was fairly prompt. No upgrade for my Titanium status but I was afforded a quiet room as requested. I was a little dubious as it wasn't at the end of a hallway or a suite which is what I usually get but it really was very quiet and thanks to that and the blackout curtains, I slept very well. This is my fourth hotel experience in Chicago and I was happy with the room rate and overall value for the rate. Bathroom was also roomy with a huge sunken tub for soaking and separate shower. Spa: I had a mani pedi and hydrating massage. It was a full service spa which was great and staff were pretty good. I do however think it was a bit too expensive for what it was and wished I had gone for the deal at another hotel that I had been offered. It would have been worth it for the slight inconvenience of taking a car somewhere else because the value would have been better for me. That said I'm not sure the hotel needs to drop the pricing because it was pretty well patronized both times that I was there. Executive lounge: While not fully open I did like that the lounge was open for breakfast on the weekend. I hate when hotels close over the weekend in the US. Breakfast was fair. I did note a server with very customer centric service wishing each other the mothers in the room a Happy Mother's Day and I thought that was a really lovely touch. It was pretty busy when I was there just after 8am - difficult to get a seat but in twenty minutes the room had cleared out a bit. Italian restaurant in house: Note that if you are Marriott elite and select the $10 F&B voucher as your welcome gift, it cannot be applied to this restaurant. I arrived soon after 6pm on a Saturday night without a reservation and was seated immediately - there were many tables available. I had seen a review about someone else enjoying the salmon and while I was in the restaurant another diner told restaurant staff that the salmon was excellent. My risotto was mediocre so I'm guessing I chose poorly. My appetizer was good and the donut dessert was just ok for me, nothing special. That said I really liked how I could select a half size entrée. American portion sizes are usually way too big for me and I hate wasting food while traveling and unable to take the rest away with me. Service was excellent. My server and the young gentleman bringing the food out to me were both very professional and warm. I did think $6 for a cup of tea was a bit overpriced. I found it very easy to order ubers and be dropped off at this location and it was a very short walk to the nearest Giordano's to try the deep dish pizza - just five minutes away. Check out: Quick and the unwarranted mini bar charge that I disputed was promptly removed. I don't know why illegitimate mini bar charges end up on hotel bills as often as they do. I actually checked over my minibar on arrival just to be nosey and it didn't appear as if anything was missing so I'm quite confused as to how I ended up with a $10 charge without taking anything myself. In any event check out was quick and easy with the option of a print out or email receipt. Overall I would be happy to stay at this hotel again above any of my previously selected hotels. A Gem Among So Many Beautiful Places In Chicago

May 11th, 2019

Chicago has a reputation for lovely hotels, but the JW Marriott Hotel on Adams St has an extra facet that makes it more than just a great place to stay, an amazing young man at the front desk, Aarron S. Not only does Aaron show the utmost in hospitality and service, he has a kind classy demeanor that fits perfectly with caliber of such a place. Everyone has been wonderful which makes the stay even more memorable! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

High class

May 10th, 2019

I stayed there for two nights. I found it an excellent business hotel in all respects. The lounge and central hallways were huge. The bedroom too was huge and classically decorated. The meeting room breakfast had many vegan options. The gym too was well equipped and maintained. And of course the location was perfect in regard to shopping, sites, theatres, restaurants and public transport. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
