Something not right

Well understanding Covit 19 and also being summer, that is one thing to understand but overcharging the bill, finding hair from the buffet, overall, the hotel is losing the outstanding standard they once had a year ago. I spoke to a guest who also complained over the overcharge of bill.. and am totally astonished the way the hotel lost its standard. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Executive Lounge & Griffin Suite awesome

Due to covid-19 outbreak in 2020, my husband and I decided to tour great hotels in Seoul area. We visited JW marriot Seoul in last month (July 2020) and stayed in Griffin Suite with the access to executive lounge. I was quite wondering about executive lounge of JW marriot. Last year, I visited Shilla hotel as a executive lounge package and satisfied all the services that Shilla offered. I can stated serive style of JW marriot is totally different from Shilla hotel. If you use lounge at JW Marriot, you can have more freedom. Staffs are not demending and they let you feel rather comfortable. Evening happy hour food selection is much better than Shilla. JW Marriot offers variety food including small finger food to Korean food. Since I stayed 1night Sunday to Monday, I was able to have breakfast at Playbuzz 2F. Breakfast buffet was amazing :) Griffin Suite room is big enough for 2ppl. Living room and bedroom. Sauna was well treated and pretty great for relaxing. I would love to visit JW Marriot in the near future again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Epitome of luxury in the capital.

I typically stay at the flawless Grand Hyatt Seoul when I visit this nations capital - however, I wanted to give this property a try. The hotel has recently underwent a massive renovation and under taking. I haven’t seen the property prior on various other trips I’ve made to Seoul to see its transformation - but I can say it’s gorgeous as it is now. I am happy that I chose to stay here for a short stay during a business trip I had in the city. The location is centrally located with many things nearby without walking distance and transit hub close by. Great views as well of the skyline. Upon arrival into the lobby you notice the very earthy, yet futuristic and luxurious details of the decor and setting they’ve put together in their front lobby. The front desk service I was met with was very attentive, personalized and quick. It didn’t feel intrusive or cold either. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The bathroom was beautiful and kept well organized for a relaxing experience. Great bath room product amenities. The bed is ultra comfortable and very plush. Crisp sheets and very comfortable pillows. I didn’t utilize the gym or health facilities during my stay but they looked well equipped and amazing. I would definitely recommend this property for a quick solo business traveller or to a couple on a trip to visit this wonderful city. The hotel offers personalized, non-intrusive service with a modern, clean and unparalleled product in comparison to the other luxury hotels in the area. I look forward to returning again someday. I feel like I cheated on the Grand Hyatt Seoul - but it was definitely worth it. Thank you for the hospitality. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The hotel always satisfies me

Upon belief of Marriott's cleaning procedures for guest room and common area and her precautions in place to ensure a healthy stay, our family decided to stay in JW Marriott Seoul. Compared to the last stay in December when club lounge was too crowded but keeping good quality of checking-in procedure (please refer to: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294197-d299776-r741730253-JW_Marriott_Hotel_Seoul-Seoul.html), there were fewer people due to Coronavirus Pandemic. The private checking-in procedure was so nice and fast as usual and the service of staff was top notch (special thanks to "Flora" this chance, and also to "Hannah" for the last stay). Another good or satisfied experience is; there was little mistake keeping T&C of the lounge. Children under 18 are not allowed to be in Club lounge after 18:00. But there was exception because one family (foreign guest) was stiill there with baby until 18:45. Being also as father myself for my children, I did not clomplain but asked why or how. And the answer was; as the family was long term guest. Soon, the staff came to say sorry for it. And it seems that she reported it also to MoD because the Manager herself came and apologied again. From my experiences of numorous stays worldwide, I have many experiences. (Sometimes, there were big mistakes) But there were many cases that the staff was trying to excuse him/herself or hide the mistakes or even not report to MoD for the mistake. But in this property, it seems that the staffs are trained that even a very small mistake should be reported to MoD or GM. As a result, it can really bring to the development of higher guest service and the quality of property. Again, my impression and experience in this JW Marriott is best as always and I can highly recommend this property as the best quality (both software and hardware) and safest hotel in Seoul. Fantastic hotel and truly caring staff!

While there are probably not too many people searching for hotels in Seoul during this truly difficult time for the travel and hospitality industry, I would like to share our wonderful experience of the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul. As we sit here reflecting on the 90th night of our stay, we are not looking forward to checking out tomorrow and moving into our apartment. My kids wish they could just live in the hotel! Having stayed here for 3 months, we have gotten to truly experience the wonderful ameneties and services offered by the staff at the JW Marriott Seoul. The best part of this hotel is the staff. Hands down the nicest and most caring people I have ever encountered. Our long stay allowed us to get to know many of the staff members, especially in the Executive Floor Lounge (EFL). The EFL staff is truly amazing and can accomodate any request (humidifiers, bed rails, and air purifiers). They always welcomed us with a smile and were ready to offer any needed assistance. They were also amazing with our children. Special thanks to the following EFL staff members for their fantastic service: Ashley, Bonnie, Amy, Jini, Min (both of them), Jenny, Aidan, Hannah, Luna, Allan, Celine, Nicole, Irene, Michelle, Jisun. I am sure we missed some folks, but the entire EFL staff and cooking staff (food is great!) will take care of your every wish! We would like to also personally thank Ms. Barbara who treated our children with great care! My son literally fell in love with her! An extra special thanks also goes out to Ms. Windy who went above and beyond playing with our children during soccer sessions in the amazing Marquis Gym. She can score a mean goal in her work flats! Special thanks to Tony also helping us with bags, packages, and food deliveries. Our maid, Ms. Han Soo Jung was also a wonderful blessing! I bet she is glad our messy kids are leaving after such a long stay! I think in our travels, we sometimes forget hospitality staff are human beings with emotions also. It was great having the opportunity to get to know some of these staff members better and we hope the COVID19 related troubles end soon and business bounces back quickly. Special thanks also to Mr. Philippe Mauron, the Hotel Manager. The one thing we first noticed about Philippe is that he was around the hotel constantly at all hours. We can definitely tell that Philippe leads from the front and the wonderful staff is a reflection of his work ethic. He also has many great stories of his previous hotelier experience in other countries. It was always great talking with him. We also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Allen Howden, the General Manager. While he is fairly new to this property, he is also quite personable and ready to make your stay comfortable. The staff and the leadership of this hotel truly make it a wonderful property and one I would wholeheartedly recommend. In fact during our stay here, I recommended this hotel to several colleagues who traveled to Seoul on business and they all loved it! We stayed in a one bedroom suite which connected to a regular room. This was comfortable enough for a family of four for an extended period of time. The rooms are all tastefully decorated. The other reviews commenting on the lack of seating are correct. However, just give a call to the EFL and they will bring up some chairs you can use as seating. One other hint on the rooms. The one bedroom suite we stayed in (rooms along the 17 line) is located right next to the elevator bank. If you are a light sleeper (thank goodness my wife and I are not), you will definitely hear the elevators whoosing throughout the evening. The bidet! I have seen the news of people fighting over toilet paper in the U.S. If you have the bidet, there would be no more conflict. Try the bidet at the JW Marriott Seoul. It will change your life. The Marquis gym is amazing. Clean, with modern equipment. The swimming pool is also wonderful. The gym also has activity rooms you can reserve so you can play soccer and basketball. The location is great. Shinsagae mall is attached to the hotel. Try the restaurants on the 11th floor or the food on the B1 floor. The hotel is also connected to the Express Bus Terminal which has food options (Shake Shack) and Famille Station (Outback, thai food, food court). Lots of great eating options. During the COVID19 social distancing protocol, restaurants would also deliver to the hotel. Just tell them to drop off at the bell desk. We used the Coupang Eats app to order food. Truly weird time to stay at a hotel. It is probably single digit occupancy right now. However, the hotel has taken precautionary measures to include FLIR cameras to detect fevers and all staff are wearing masks. I feel bad for the people who are being affected by COVID19. There are other repurcussions of COVID19 and the staff here have already been placed on reduced work hours and I am sure will continue to be affected as the pandemic spreads. I just wanted everyone to know what a wonderful hotel the JW Marriott Seoul is and as soon as the world becomes safe again, book your room here! You will not regret it! As we begin our adventures in Seoul, we will continue to visit this hotel. My daughter has aready said she wants to come back to the hotel for her birthday. I have a feeling we will be doing several staycations here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
