Concierge lounge had a game room but limited food options over the Christmas

May 31st, 2020

Friendly staff who presented gift bags to the girls as we checked in which proved to be a big hit.  The concierge lounge has a 2nd floor with a pool table and a wide selection of books and board games, they only draw back of the lounge was they had limited food options available the week of Christmas.  The desert options was limited to 2 types of cookies TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor choice in a city with a wealth of accommodations

May 22nd, 2020

There are a lot of missed opportunities with this hotel. We were with a wedding party, so it wasn't exactly my choice, and it's unlikely that I'll be staying here again for the following reasons. At this price point, I expect a level of service that's simply lacking and no one seems to care about improving it. I saw it in the breakfast room which was hopelessly understaffed and undersupplied. Loyalty club breakfast was in a charmless, florescent-lit ballroom. Compare it to the Ritz's club level and it's laughably pitiful. The fitness room is very small and sparse. For a hotel that seems to cater to the business traveler, you'd think they'd expand the space, add more equipment, make it a luxurious experience. Sadly, not the case. Fruit-infused water is about all you can expect. Pool area is also small, with no umbrellas to make it even the least bit enticing and attractive. Lobby bar was sterile and bland, not to mention understaffed. It's also laid out so that the main entrance from the elevator lobby to Canal street flows right through it. Maybe put a bar on BOTH sides of the pedestrian highway to Canal St. so bar patrons don't block the flow? Anybody thinking about these things? Perhaps most offensive about this JW Marriott is that the staff don't seem happy to be there. Staff at the Ritz, the Windsor, etc - they exude southern charm and hospitality. Not to mention the lovely boutique hotels who really know how to welcome guests to their fine city. Your staff will make or break your guest's experience. Shame on the management for not addressing this issue from the top. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Enjoyed our stay

Mar 15th, 2020

While the really are mixed for this property, we enjoyed the accommodations overall. Corner king room was spacious and the AC worked great. Bathroom space was ok and while the shower pressure wasn’t great, we’ve certainly had much worse. No issues with laundry and maid service and room service was great too. Pool is basic with sun coverage until about 3 pm ET. Bartenders George and Deborah were THE BEST!! They gave us restaurant suggestions and were so attentive and hospitable. We will be back!! Great location for a meeting but expected more from JW

Mar 15th, 2020

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights for a conference at the hotel. Although it is ideally located for visiting the French Quarter and all the NoLa has to offer, I expected a little more from a JW. The hotel itself is very nice, and I had an upgrade to a "Corner King" which was a spacious room with a very nice bathroom; love the big shower. Disappointed with the desk as was not a great "work" desk.....and what's up with replacing the coffee markers with expresso? Not a fan!! On conference level three, although lots of space, you practically need to find an Uber to get to the bathrooms all the way at the other end of the floor.....and literally a block away. Poor design! Honestly, if I wasn't a devoted Bonvoy travller, I would consider options in the Quarter with more history or charm the next time I visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Hotel

Mar 14th, 2020

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights over Mardi Gras. The hotel is ideally located for parades and the French Quarter. Would have been nice to know before we arrived that they had a balcony to watch the parades (chargeable) as we paid more to watch from a gantry with no facilities. The hotel itself is lovely. Large spacious room, nice bathroom facilities, powerful shower, good quality toiletries and excellent coffee. Public areas were very nice too. Staff were pleasant and helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
