Fabulous stay

Room was clean and nice, location was great and the staff were over the top. Very helpful and friendly really enjoyed our stay. Wish we could remember everyone's name but Alfred was out standing.We stay nearly a week and hated to leave. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrendous customer service

Out of all the Marriott properties I've stayed at, never experienced this level of disrespectfulness and dismissiveness by hotel staff. Seems like workers just don't care. The roomscontroller is also MIA. After leaving 3 voice mails over separate days and calling each day for 5 days, I got to speak with the roomscontroller a total of zero times. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not Impressed.

This stay was truly underwhelming. I know the JW Brand for an elevated luxury experience where needs are anticipated and service truly delights. None of that happened during our stay. We stayed one night on Christmas evening before catching the early Amtrak departure back to DC. I was excited to find a rate that was a good value on AAA that included a beverage credit for our stay. Coming off of an AMAZING stay recently at the JW Beijing Central, I was looking forward to showing my partner how incredible the JW brand is. Instead, we found a truly lackluster check-in experience with an apathetic agent. Check-in was done online which remarked a complimentary upgrade would be provided based on availability. Upgrade was provided only one category after some back and forth with the agent on what was "available." This upgrade was to a corner room, not one of the numerous suites that were showing for sale across our one-night stay that as a Titanium guest I'd typically expect per the program T&C. The lounge was mediocre. There was no hot menu items left for dinner an hour prior to when the dinner service was cut off. I was advised by the lounge attendant that it's "first come first served" and there were no more of the evening's features to be had. She did try to twist it and make it positive letting me know the salad bar and crackers would be replenished the entire time. That said, I have an expectation that food would be replenished until closing. I asked for special accommodations for breakfast due to an early departure. It's very common for properties with lounges that open late to provide some kind of bagged continental option for those leaving early and I tried to arrange this with the front desk. I was told that's not something they could do. When I pushed and tried to encourage the front desk agent to speak to their manager they simply told me it'd be hard to get anything like that "comped" since the rate I was in on was "just so cheap." I was truly taken aback that you'd treat a guest differently based on the rate plan they came in under. The room itself was very sterile. You'd have no idea you were in NOLA if the blinds were shut and you covered up anything with the hotel name on it. Above the bed were another guests handprints (hmmm). The room didn't have a pen or stationary which was odd. Room service was the truly elevated experience that was executed well. Our order was taken promptly upon our call and desserts and beverages ordered were delivered in under 20 minutes. Wayne came into our room and was very polite and courteous and seemed very passionate about the Chocolate Cake and Praline Cheesecake. The desserts were fresh and quite tasty. Moscow Mule was a good nightcap though I would have expected the same to be served in a proper copper mug. Would I recommend the hotel? Not to an elite guest that cares about recognition and expects a more anticipatory level of service. If you're looking for a sterile environment in a decent location and don't care about the lounge, perhaps it's a good fit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location on Canal. Rooms kind of small.

Had room 2108- was a bit tight. But, good view of Canal Street looking north. Hotel has a good location on Canal. Unfortunately the only restaurant is Fogo de Chao. Very nice Executive Lounge for Bonvoy members. Look upstairs for a pool table and game room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

OK not great

We stayed for two nights celebrating a milestone birthday. We are Marriott Bonvoy members so we are used to the quality of this brand; however, this property did not impress us at all. We were surprised how we were gifted pairs of ear plugs on our nightstands so we could get a "good night's sleep"; read along to find out why. Here are the pros: - great location on Canal St. in walking distance to pretty much everything - lovely renovated rooms -staff at check in was very friendly - Nespresso in the room Cons: - air condition is blasted throughout the lobby and hallways (not needed for the cooler temps in December), we would literally run to our room and crank the heat - walls are paper thin - you can literally hear everything and everyone (don't know why they wouldn't soundproof the rooms during their renovation) - you can hear the partying on Bourbon St. while you're trying to go to sleep (literally) - we were part of the executive lounge only to be disappointed by mediocre food and minimal snacks of a some crackers. limited cheese and fruit. - we came back to the hotel at 1am and I was desperate for a tea - there was no snack bar or restaurant open, exec lounge was closed to get anything; how can they offer Nespresso in the room and not offer some tea bags and hot water (this doesn't make star for a hotel of this caliber) - we complained at the front desk and they said they would let management know. All in all, we wanted something extra special and classy as it was a milestone birthday we were celebrating but got something mediocre. Marriott should review their ratings as this barely makes it a 4 star in my opinion. If you want to party and don't care about noise and sleep then this is the place for you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
