Amazingly safe and FUN covid stay!
Aug 29th, 2020
Me wanted a little staycation before my daughter started school this week... I had grabbed lunch at JW Desert Ridge a few days ago and it looked nice and empty near the pool so we booked it and let my daughter bring a friend. Was so nice! All pools open, even the slide and lazy river. All restaurants we tried were open (with some limited hours, like Starbucks).... everyone social distancing indoor (with masks), outdoors we didn't wear them, although staff did. Pool was virtually empty until 11ish; but still never got really busy. We had an entire row of chairs (and beyond) to ourselves. They had sanitizer everywhere; extra masks (in little sealed, self-contained packs w/sanitizer) available if you lose yours (which the kids did a few times). A lot of the lobby's doors were self-opening, which made it even safer; watched the staff spraying down tables and chairs at the pool (I was there early). Would definitely recommend!!! A Touch of Class

I was hesitant, but decided if any hotel was safe, it would be the JW Marriott, the top hotel in Phoenix. They were careful: masks required of all staff and guests, social distancing for all interactions, no contact processes, etc. Most important, there was the same outstanding customer service for which Marriott is famous. From the bellmen to receptionists to housekeepers to waitstaff, everyone was professional, friendly and efficient. Of course, no stay is perfect, but staff responded quickly to resolve my few issues. The cottage cabanas were wonderful--complete with a cooling system and TV--and discounted during the week. The pools and lazy river were open and, of course, not crowded. Not all the restaurants are open every night. But Roy's and Twenty6 were excellent with social distanced seated and take-out (which most guests seemed to be using). After five months of home, the Marriott provided a wonderful, overdue and welcomed staycation! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We checked at 9 on a Thursday, there was no where to get food, pop, water etc. not even a recommendation for a local delivery. the room we booked wasn’t available because they don’t have those available during COVID (then why let me book it??) The room was dusty and nothing like we’d expect from a JW, there was no room service, we were never notified until after we got back late. There was a large bug in our bed!! All the hotel shops etc close at 2? Really, again not told of this until after we were into our stay!, We couldn’t even see the TV from our bed,in the end we got a I’m sorry and a minor credit! We would not recommend this JW to anyone 4 diamonds?? Haha TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We spent two wonderful nights at the resort. Everything we wanted to experience was open - pool, lazy river, Just A Splash. We were worried about crowds, but the resort never felt crowded even in the pool area. There were several food options although we had food delivered both nights. We are looking forward to our stay again in early August. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
No let downs

From the driveway entrance you know you’ve arrived and that this is a very special place. It’s most certainly a resort and not a hotel, it has everything to offer. From immaculate grounds to pristine golf courses nearby, there’s plenty of space to enjoy a bike ride, tennis, or golf. The pool and lazy river are amazing along with the desert landscaping and waterfalls. It really feels like your in paradise or Hawaii. Speaking of Hawaii, the resort offers Roy’s restaurant, which shouldn’t be disregarded as a “chain” restaurant, its one of the best places to eat in Arizona. The service and food at Roy’s has been the best every time I’ve been there which is many. The Resort itself has so much to offer, the rooms and common areas are very well kept and clean. The bars are very nice. This is a terrific place for a family, business conference, couples getaway, for basically anything. No let downs at the JW Marriott whether it’s for work or play. Enjoy your stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
