Beautiful Grounds, Faded Casitas

Jun 16th, 2019

The resort is beautiful, staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The public areas are fabulous. Unfortunately, our sun deck casita was not to the same standard. The outside furniture was new but inside everything looked tired and perhaps the “shabby chic” was becoming shabby. Drawers did not close so it felt more 3 star than anything else. However, it was very clean and housekeeping was outstanding. Would stay again in a heartbeat because of the grounds and staff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Never fails to delight !

Jun 15th, 2019

A regular visitor (nice the 1980's) and a regular reviewer of this property I chose it as one of the places to celebrate my 60th birthday. I could not have asked for anything more. We booked a parlour suite with a pool and it was delightful. The slightly old fashioned but very southwestern feel of the suite was perfect for us. It has a cozy feel to it which is unique and fits in with the resort. I love this place because of the Jack Rabbits running around, the birds singing and the flora and fauna that is so carefully looked after. A walk around the resort is a treat any time of day and this and the staff, many of whom have been here for decades seem to love it too. The JW Marriott Camelback Inn is special. It is not like other 5 star resorts and has a history that should never be forgotten. The pool is large and on weekends busy, and can be noisy (with the obligatory music piped just that little bit too loud, I would prefer just birdsong and peace) but at quiet times is best with just the waterfall noise to help you relax. The spa is luxurious and well equipped with superb poolside service and lovely food and drink. Ritas restaurant is lovely, and serves the best Hash Browns I have ever tasted and has a lovely buffet at breakfast. Evenings has two happy hours that serves good value cocktails and snacks and gets quite lively. The views everywhere are the things that you remember. They will make you want to come back. If I have one negative comment it would be that they have constructed a really ugly convention centre which looks like a Walmart near the lobby which should never have been built. It is so out of place and they at least need to try and disguise it with some plants and trees (or knock it down!). I have recommended so many friends to come here over the years and every one of them has become a regular visitor which must mean something. Cannot wait to return to Camelback............ oe of the most unusual ad beautiful resorts in the World. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful property and spa

Jun 8th, 2019

From the moment we checked it with Meredith, we know it was going to be a great weekend...she was so helpful and put us in a gorgeous room. The spa ....OMG. Hands down the best facial and massage EVER. The wait staff as the spa restaurant wasn’t great, but just ignore it...condescending which we found entertaining. Had a great time!! Best Place to Stay in Phoenix / Scottsdale

Jun 7th, 2019

I was a guest of this beautiful hotel at the end of May for four nights. From check in to check out, my stay was flawless. During my arrival to the hotel from the airport, I was greeted by Joe who immediately took my bags from me and held onto them while I checked in with Kathryn. After Kathryn explained the location of my room and described the amenities and restaurants, Joe drove me to my casita in a golf cart. Along the way, he gave me an informative tour of the amenities including tennis courts and pool as well as an overview of the hotel. Once I arrived at the casita, I opened the door and was blown away by the layout and size. It was perfect for the vacation I wanted to have. I often travel alone so this casita was perfect for me. After settling in, I decided to have a pool day. Brett was my server and was so kind and attentive. I didn’t intend on drinking as much as I did and mentioned that I should’ve just ordered the bucket of beer. Brett offered to buy my last beer to balance out the cost which I graciously accepted even though I never expected it. I also placed a to-go order with him as I had enough sun for the day. I retired to my casita and ate my Cajun grilled chicken sandwich on my patio. It was the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few! I eventually visited the pool again two days later after my sunburn subsided and Brett remembered me. Of course I was smart enough to order a bucket this time. Speaking of sunburn, I contacted the operator and asked if the resort shop had aloe vera. They transferred me directly to the resort shop where Judy answered. She was very pleasant and informed me of the two options. I eventually walked over to the store from my casita and purchased the aloe vera. Judy recognized my voice as calling previously. Most may have not mentioned it but she did which added a touch of hospitality and feeling right at home. I had dinner at Rita’s where Ted was my server. I told him I was torn between the selection of tacos and he suggested I order one of each. Great idea, Ted! Also, best ranchero beans I’ve ever eaten! The food and service combined with the view of the mountains made for a great experience. Last but not least, I ordered In Room Dining TWICE. I rarely do this as I like to venture out and try local restaurants. My first order was after returning from a day of sightseeing. I didn’t want to go out and also didn’t want a heavy meal so I ordered chips with salsa and guacamole and a slice of chocolate cake, possibly the best I’ve ever eaten of all three. The second meal from In Room Dining was tacos. Yes, more tacos. Jorge was very polite when delivering my meal and made sure I had everything I needed before he left the room. He even set up my meal on the patio so I could enjoy the beautiful weather. I cannot say enough about the food prepared in this hotel and the people who deliver it. On my last night, I walked to the Mummy Mountain area of property to watch the sunset. It was an amazing view of Camelback Mountain and downtown. Afterwards I visited the front desk to ask for the GMs card to write a nice email detailing my exceptional experience. Meredith provided it to me and we had a nice chat about customer service. I couldn’t believe it was her first time working in a hotel. She’s a natural! When I departed, Lee and Justin loaded my luggage while I whined about having to leave, but I vowed to return! I hope to visit this beautiful property again very soon to indulge in the delicious food and enjoy the views by the pool while be spoiled by your hospitable staff. Thank you for making my sabbatical a peaceful and tasty one! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
