Disappointed - Suspended Bonvoy Elite Benefits

We had out wedding here 1 year ago and they knocked it out of the park... it was 10/10. The resort prior to COVID was our go-to vacation destination. We decided to go last week for our one year anniversary and reached out to the front desk team. I wanted help in having the top of our wedding cake delivered to the room for my wife. (We froze it). Every single visit prior to this we had an amazing and personal welcome. A welcome gift. Card. Always something. Prior to arrival they sent a letter explaining what was open/closed, processes, etc. All made sense. Arrival - no early check-in which makes sense. They can't use all rooms so we were ok. Check-in from the car wasn't great. Their are 2 lanes. One for Mobile/Elite and the other for full check-in. With only 1 person - and them being closer to the full check-in the Elite/Mobile was actually much slower. Bag Assistance - I didn't get the name of the gentleman who helped us but he was amazing. Such a fantastic attitude! They can't bring anything in your room but will take it right to your door. Keep in mind - you must be in your room to have bags delivered. Titanium Elite Benefits - No late check-out, no free breakfast (Had I known their would be no free breakfast we would not have gone. It's a lot of money each morning and always saved us about $50/day). Instead of 500 points they gave 1000. Any Marriott traveler knows this is worth about $6 or less. No welcome in-room gift. Pools - Main pool was open and it was easy for us to find chairs. Process was great. Second level pools were all closed Beach - It says you must check-in with someone but they just tell you to find a chair. No towels down there so you need to bring from the pool. Room Service - Menu is limited. Food we ordered was good. JW Service - We were pretty disappointed. It was definitely not what we were use to. They knew it was our anniversary after spending close to $100k the year prior with them. No card. No welcome. No mention of it. No help with the cake. Even if they said they can't deliver anything to your room (yet they can do room service)... it takes almost zero effort to just leave a voicemail message. Housekeeping - There is no housekeeping (which they are up-front about in their letter). Room - It was like they were in the middle of a renovation and then because of COVID gave up. Some new furniture/some old. Some new carpet. Most of the kitchen supplies were missing. No toaster but had a blender? Would not pick that room again until it was fully renovated. Overall - with Marriott allowing hotels to suspend Elite Benefits we will use this as an opportunity to check out other hotels outside the Marriott brand. Seems like a pretty stupid plan considering those of us who traditionally spend at least 75 nights a year with them are the most likely to travel again sooner. I think it's really crappy that neither the hotel nor Marriott told us benefits were suspended. It's not mentioned in the letter received prior to check-in either. We were told we would get 10% off the stay which came to over $1200 for 2 nights (Studio/no view room). They didn't do that either. I would have given this a poor rating but our wedding was so fantastic... so I gave it average. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary Stay

Just wanted to say Thank You to all the staff during our recent stay (July 3-4, 2020) at the Rosseau for our anniversary. We were thoroughly impressed with the COVID-19 protocols that were put in place to ensure our safety. Little details like cleaning paddles after use were much appreciated. The restaurants did a great job to accommodate people with seating and ensuring a great experience. We always enjoy coming back and look forward to our next visit! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Muskoka Jewel

We stayed at this hotel from June 16th to 19th and we have a fabulous time. It was a relaxing get away after being quarantined for months. Aside from the best view of the lake, we love the DIVERSITY and EFFICIENCY of their staff. We have encountered some unfortunate circumstances caused by some guests during our stay but it was properly address by the hotel staff and customer representatives. It is a well managed hotel. To all the hardworking and efficient staff of JW Marriott, our heartfelt Thank you for making our stay a memorable one. We are hoping to be back in the fall. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A waste of vacation time

I travel extensively and prefer to stay at high end resorts and hotels. This place does.not add up and in My opinion it was a waste of vacation time to bring my family here. Definitely not adhering to common sense policies that would reduce the risk of COvID and when addressed with management there is not concern for custom service, safety or accountability. Really head office, should be engaged in how poorly the experience can be for customers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Relaxation during reopening

My husband and I just returned from a week here. I was a bit hesitant to stay at a hotel with all that's going on but, my stay here has reassured me. Check in was done in the driveway as we pulled up. Jack checked us in and he was GREAT! Our room wasn't quite ready and he was able to upgrade us to one with a balcony given the vacancy level. All staff were masked and actively cleaning throughout our stay. The ice machines were not in use because they were too high touch (smart) so bags of ice were available at the bar for in room. Assigned seating in the pool area and all guests being mindful of the distancing and mask use made it a different but, enjoyable and relaxing stay. The canoes, life jackets and paddle boards are all sanitized after use and were great fun. Will be back! Can't beat the view! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
