Great resort.

Thank you to Hayley (who worked there in 2017) for the best room and accommodating our requests so easily. You're the best!!! There was an issue with miscommunication with what was included. I checked with 4 staff members before arriving to ensure it was included. When I got there, I found out it wasn't and it took an entire day of going back and forth with the front desk supervisor for it to be resolved for me. That did put me off that they kept jumping to the conclusion that I was incorrect. I was extremely satisfied that it was resolved and thank the entire team for it. You still get a 5/5 :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor customer service

Jan 13th, 2020

Staff has been "looking into" lost items, since before Christmas. Three items left in a closet, yet one was found and returned, and 2 items still missing. Yet all three items left in the same closet, all together. If you do stay here triple check you don't leave anything behind. Dealing with this has been horrible customer service. Our sixth trip, and probably the last.

Jan 6th, 2020

Just returned from our sixth visit to JW Marriot, and we were pretty disappointed. We used to say "when are we coming back" and now its "if we do." We are Bonvoy members, and this used to be the most wonderful experience, especially in the winter. We would tell everyone how delighted we were. Still lots of fun activities for the kids which is nice and a gorgeous location but it was all of the little things that added up to the poor experience. The service has gotten a lot worse. Much less friendly. Much less attentive. You don't even know who is serving you half the time, and no one comes to check on you. The food is very expensive (and we are from Toronto) and really poor. Very overcooked, parts were still cold like they had been mis-microwaved. There are no other restaurants nearby so you need to eat on-site or bring your own food. The menu isn't broad enough to enjoy that. We brought food to stock the fridge (mostly kids food and some snacks and salads) and the first night our fridge froze everything rock solid. We lost everything we brought. Although they apologized, staff didn't offer a resort credit us some kids meals which would have been what I would expect from the Marriot. The kids activities in the studio have always been a nice touch, but there was a LOT less love in them this time around. The room was way too hot, and you could not adjust it. The pool (which had always been our favourite part) was so over chemicaled that my husband and child had a reaction. The washroom serving the pool was dirty and the soaps empty. Also the price has increased quite a bit since the renos. So overall, we won't be rushing back which is a huge shame, it has been our yearly winter escape for a long time. "Tired Rooms" like mentioned in the other reviews was NOT the problem. So even with those renovated, I don't think we will return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One of the best stays in Canada so far

Jan 5th, 2020

It was my first time in Muskoka, and I believe we have selected the resort just right. Here’s why: - it is located in the middle of the old Muskoka woods so whichever room you are in, you will have a LOVELY view either on the woods, and reindeers can walk just around - they have a lot of recreational activities. We went for a guided snowshoe tour and it was a blast. We’ve got to see some frozen ponds and glacier rocks. There’s also an option to rent fatbikes in winter, and a lot of hiking options. Most of the activities are included into the price of the stay - outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi. Swimming outside under a snowfall is priceless - fireplace in the room! Just near the balcony - really cosy to sit and look at - quite a good breakfast. Even though I would want to see more veggies option on the breakfast, there were just fresh cucumbers. The fruit selection is good though - lots of organised barbecue spots for a picnic outside - there is something to do for any age. Little sister enjoyed jumping in the bounty castles, mom shooting with bow and arrow, me chilling in jacuzzi Thank you all the staff for the great service, we wish to come back in summer again! Couples Retreat!

Jan 4th, 2020

I came in to facilitate a couples retreat for the weekend and the hotel was packed for a Rotary District Conference weekend. I was asked to leave the bar area due to the private function and after explaining that I was also a Rotarian from a different district., I was not only permitted to stay at the bar until my clients arrived, I was treated very well the following night for the inconvenience. Lovely room and amenities. Bar staff was amazing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
