Upscale resort on a private island. Private ferry service to the town. You really don't have to go anywhere else. Beautiful gardens. Facilities and rooms were nice. Good personal service. You get what you pay for. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous Resort

Nov 18th, 2019

We stayed here during the last week of October. After arriving at Venezia Santa Lucia, we took a public ferry to San Marco. The ferry was crowded and we jostled for space with our luggage. It may be a good idea for the hotel to provide a direct service from the Train station (on a chargeable basis) given that they provide one-way free transfer from the hotel every morning to the train station (from 6:00 am – 11:00 am). It will definitely help those who are coming to the city for the first time, finding their way to the hotel. In addition, the complementary boat transfer from San Marco to the hotel is scheduled every hour during October. We just missed the transfer by a couple of minutes as we didn’t know where to head to after we arrived at San Marco. A little bit of signage, direction would have helped us saving from exhaustion of waiting at the boarding point. Once we arrived at the hotel after a 20-minute boat ride, it was a place of dreams. Crossing the beautiful waters of Adriatic, we could locate the island from a distance. We were thrilled to step on the island and the vast lawns and greenery that stood in contrast with the bright building blocks. Check-in was smooth and the luggage was taken care of. We rushed to our room. We booked a large family room in the main block and were pleasantly surprised with the size and quality of the room. It offered great views of the lawns and the sea. What more one can ask for? The complementary transfer from San Marco to the hotel is scheduled every hour in non-summer seasons and every 30 minutes during the summer. Every time we took the service, it was punctual and very convenient to reach the city centre and back. You have to keep the time table in mind just to avoid waiting unnecessarily. The hotel’s USP is the island itself. Where would you find such acres of serene landscape and yet very classy and accessible hotel just 15-20 minutes’ boat ride from the nerve centre of Venice? One can decide to stay near San Marco but would have to trade cramped up hotel rooms with convenience. In JW Marriott – Venice, you can actually get the best of both worlds – enjoy your day in this stunning island, lazing around the benches along seashore and walking through the maze of lanes in historic centre of Venice. We really loved our stay and wished it would have been longer. The breakfast was truly amazing – a signature JW Marriott treat at par with the best. With a large buffet offering, one will be spoilt for choices between customized omlette, legendary pastries and sorbet. The staff too were amazing and friendly – ever willing to lend a helping hand, be it concierge, reception or at the breakfast table. It was JW hospitality at its best. Overall, a very highly recommended hotel for someone looking to spend a 5-7 days in Venice. Thank you for your hospitality and we will be back soon and this time, for a week-long stay. It is a nice hotel but some of the staff make it great - the young guy at the reception who is very efficient and a waitress at breakfast who is courteous, friendly and helpful! I should have taken their names but only appreciated their kind gestures on check-out! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It’s very... American

Nov 11th, 2019

Which is not a good or a bad thing - just a thing. It’s a very well run, clean , big well staffed with good service, American chain. It’s clean and efficient. The rooms are modern and sterile with a functional but new design. The restaurant feels like an airline lounge although the service is excellent. My only criticisms would be that the hotels facilities - restaurants, family area, spa, and transportation services shut down at this time of the year even if the rooms of the hotel remain bookable, which I don’t think is really fair not to mention as a warning on the website. Finally I knew they charged before I booked so I can’t really complain but I also don’t think it’s right to charge €40 for 3 hours of the use of their spa, which from what I could see consisted of a small swimming pool and a steam room; normally I’ve found hotels include this - but c’est la vie. It’s very far from Venice so don’t stay here if it’s your first time to the area. Again, the service is great and the hotel is very well run. It is what it says it is / a big Marriott.
