Amazing basecamp for hiking the glacier valley

Oct 29th, 2019

The half board was perfect. Dinners were exceptional. Hiking was extraordinary. Whirlpool was lovely. I could have stayed for a month. Everything was first class. Pre-arrange a wine tasting dinner in the cellar. View from room- over the top. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel

Sep 29th, 2019

Just returned from our fourth visit to this beautiful hotel. Its only just about half an hour from Innsbruck airport and you are welcomed by efficient warm and friendly staff with a lovely complimentary drink, while all the paperwork is done speedily and your bags are taken to your room for you. We absolutely love the hotel with its beautiful spa and it’s stunning surrounding scenery. The cleanliness is just immaculate, the food from breakfast to dinner is of high quality, varied and delicious. The owners Christina and Armin made sure they welcome everybody personally and encourage you to join in and make the most of your holiday. Nothing it’s too much trouble from housekeeping to reception to bar and restaurant staff. We are already planning to go back next year . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing hotel in a great location

Sep 26th, 2019

Just 15km from Innsbruck deep in the Stubai Valley is this gem of a Tyrolean Hotel. Friendly and helpful welcome by the charming staff who showed us to our Superior double room. A huge suite with separate living and sleeping areas with a large TV in both, a large bathroom with bath, two showers and separate toilet. Very traditional suite but spotlessly clean and stunning views of the Stubai Glacier from the bay window. Breakfast was first class with plenty of variety and dinner consisted of six courses with a choice of starters, main meals and deserts. The food was diverse with some interesting flavours and meals were a real pleasure. The hotel provided a free taxi collection and return service to Innsbruck Airport and free taxi to the Elferbahnen cable car station. In the summer period passes giving one daily return trip on four cable cars in the area and local bus services between the Stubai Glacier and Innsbruck were provided. Overall a really special hotel with superb facilities including the largest spa area I have ever seen and an indoor/outdoor pool. Service standards were as good as I have ever seen and a return visit is a must. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stay spoilt by cold rooms. Disingenuous response from reception.

Sep 12th, 2019

Family holiday first and second weeks in September. Initially weather was hot but then turned cold. While this was expected and came as no surprise to us, seemingly this was not the case for the hotel. We found our suite was too cold and so complained to reception who explained that they couldn’t turn on the heating to just our rooms as this would require the whole hotels heating system to be activated. They clearly were not minded to do this and instead supplied us with a single plug-in electric heater for use in our rooms. By the third day of my family feeling cold and increasingly miserable I complained to reception for the third time. I said we were cold and needed the heating turned on. The receptionist explained that this was not possible as the buildings heating was controlled by a complex system of sensors but he would refer the issue to the technical department. He further added that the valley temperature was 10-15C. In todays parlance this would be called an “alternative fact” - wet snow was falling in the village just a couple of hours later. While it is (just about) acceptable for my wife to insult my intelligence it was less endearing coming from the receptionist. At €650 a night we were somewhat disappointed. The family Pfurtschellers in their welcome stationery state (in gold italics) “Your comfort is of the utmost importance to us.” Dear reader, you decide. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Incredibly well, owner-managed hotel!

Aug 27th, 2019

This is truly a very special hotel which deserves all the praise it can get. Here everything works, everything is perfect. The owner family is present and cares for their guest in an admirable way. The location is excellent to explore the Stubai valley which offers great ascents by cable cars, followed by wonderful walks. Forget the glacier - this was the worst experience we had, as on top there is simply no space to walk or stand. We were pushed around and eventually left after 5 minutes. There are lots of more beautiful options. The hotel features a great spa with both indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Half-pension arrangement is not only of very good value but also a stylish affair in the wonderful, candle lit dining room. Food is excellent and the choice leaves no wishes open. Rooms are comfortable and quiet as the hotel is off the centre of the village. My only grudge for this hotel is that they still use the awful kind of hangers where you have juggle the hanger into a ring fixed on the rail. What a terrible nuisance. Are guests paying 300 to 400 Euros per night out to steal hangers? Anyhow, this is a very small negative aspect for an hotel which otherwise is on top of its league. Visit the Jagdhof - you will not regret! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
