Excellent week!

Jan 24th, 2021

We usually travel to Jamaica with about 4-5 couples. With COVID-19 playing concerns, our group ended up being my wife, and I. The country of Jamaica and, The Jewel Grande, alleviated our worries. They make the safety of their guests, priority 1. All precautions are taken at every level. The cleanliness is beyond reproach. The Staff and management are very accommodating . Eat, drink and be merry! We would recommend the Jewel Grande to anyone! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Jamaican Vacation During a Global Pandemic

Jan 24th, 2021

This was a family vacation we have been planning for well over a year now, we were a little concerned traveling during a global pandemic, but those worries were quickly diminished as soon as we arrived at the Jewel Grande. We were so beyond impressed with how clean and precautious the resort and all it's employees were. There were sanitization stations all over the resort and required before entering each restaurant before our meals. I was so impressed that every employee always had their mask on, never once saw an employee take their mask off or pull it down. All the restaurants lived up to our expectations, the food and staff were excellent to say the least. Our first night set an impressive mark after going to Pier Side restaurant for the Hibachi experience. Our Chef Subrina not only made a delicious meal to us, but she entertained us with her wonderful voice and cheerful enthusiasm for well over an hour straight, if you have the opportunity to make it here, make sure to make a reservation with her! Some other great waiters included Jermaine at the Waves restaurant, funny and attentive aka Jermazing. Damian at the Moonstone, and Rionel for lunch each and everyday at the Pelican Grill, he quickly became are go to waiter to find due to his kindness and attentiveness. Rionel also was my brother’s waiter during his engagement dinner and my brother expressed all glowing reviews for his time spend with them during an intimate dinner. Also, I would like to take a second to talk about the Byron the lifeguard on duty, a generous man that got us coconuts, aloe, and took us out in the pontoon boat. He always asked how we were and happy to have a conversation about anything we could think of. The entertainment staff was truly second to none! I could write a novel on how much fun and enjoyable they made our week spent with them. Kemar was an absolute blast, he kept us entertained each day by the pool with games and constant dancing, on our last night there we got to spend the night dancing with him by the lobby bar, such a great time! Then there was Javon, I feel like he was there morning and night, always so upbeat and joking around for a good time. He hosted most of the entertainment shows every night at 8:30 and continued the party in the lobby bar each night. Even when it was just my family at the bar, he DJ’d and made it a memorable night for all of us. Last, but not least is Dwight. From the moment we got there he got us involved in all the fun activities held at the resort. He was a constant bright spot on our week. He welcomed us with open arms and made us feel immediately like family. I can not imagine our week without Dwight. I cannot recommend this entertainment staff anymore, a great set of great people who made the week unforgettable. I highly recommend everyone to go to this resort, you will go for the food and relaxion, but leave feeling like family from all the staff. An incredible week filled with endless of memories! Best Vacation Spot EVER!

Jan 24th, 2021

We visited Jewel Grande this past week and absolutely loved it! Before we arrived, we booked a private dinner through Alesha and she made the process so smooth and easy. While we were there, every single person on the staff was super nice and pleasant to be around. Javan, Dwight, and Kemar made all the beach/pool games so much fun. All 3 of them were so personable, and became someone that we all hated saying goodbye to. When we had our private dinner, we had Roneil as our waiter and he was amazing!! He was also our waiter almost every day for lunch and he was always so happy to see us (as we were for him too). Jermaine was also an amazing waiter as well. He was “Jermazing” as he would say! Every morning we would go to the breakfast buffet and Carolyn was always there to cook up the best omelet I’ve ever had. We went to the Pierside restaurant for the Hibachi and Suberina was our cook and she was outstanding!! She sang songs to us and danced the entire time while cooking our food. She kept us so entertained. The resort also has non-motorized water sports, and we had Byron take us out on the Catamaran. He was super nice and had some good stories to tell! Jewel Grande is definitely a place that I would recommend to anyone looking to visit Jamaica!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Felt Safe and Relaxed

Jan 21st, 2021

Mainly leaning towards a 4 because of COVID precautions and able to social distance. Pros: Friendly staff, everyone that you walked passed was helpful and super nice! COVID precautions taken seriously and hand sanitizer readily available New rooms, loved the view, soaking bathtub and separate shower. However you may want to rethink the rooms if sharing with friends as the bathroom is an open concept Private beach - so no hagglers or random people. They also keep it very clean. They also have complimentary kayaks and paddle boards. Beach is great for kids since they made it into a cove to block the waves. Lots of space to social distance Beautiful hotel, and property. Loved walking on the path and dock by the ocean. We spent a morning there no one else and took a nap. Cons: Wheelchair and stroller accessible but not EASILY ACCESSIBLE. You really have to go all the way around the hotel and out of your way for a ramp. Some paths looked like a ramp but ended up being stairs. Ok if you can carry your stroller but not ok if you had a wheelchair. Also some places had lots of stairs so if you have a hard time with them I’d be mindful of that. Restaurants were 2.5/3 stars at best. The buffet dinner serving local food was the best meal. The steakhouse was hardly a steakhouse. Applebees quality at best. We also tried WAVES, the apps were decent but entree very dry. Breakfast they had a decent assortment. We asked for a high chair at the restaurants although I saw them cleaning it - I would go back and do another cleaning because I’m not sure what kind of disinfectant they use but it’s a brownish color and probably very toxic. Too toxic for a high chair. They also don’t have enough table tops for the high chair so try to ask in advance. Two meals we asked for it and they said it was coming but it never did Pool placement is not ideal. It doesn’t get that much sun because of the placement and the building blocks the sun. Spent 95% of our time in the beach because the pool was too cold. Annoying system of paying for extras bottles of wine. They make you walk to the front desk to pay after this is super annoying and I’m still waiting to see if they charged me double. What’s the point of you holding my card for incidentals? Overpriced for their shuttle and private car service. I found a great service elsewhere for a fraction of the hotels price - Best Jamaica. It’s a 15 minute drive. I live in NYC and car service isn’t even the price of what the hotel charges. Activities and amenities, since it’s COVID and we have a baby we didn’t plan on doing much. We were perfectly happy with the beach and staying on the property. Since there weren’t many people it was great. However this is a small property, small beach, small restaurants so if it were normal times I don’t think I’d like it and it would be very crowded. Lastly the door in the room was very hard to open and close. The last night was very windy and there was a whistling from the door all night no one could sleep. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jamaica Vacation

Jan 21st, 2021

Spent 9 days at the Jewel Grande in January. Can’t say enough about how well prepared they were to keep their guests safe. All of our concerns were swept away upon arrival and seeing firsthand how seriously they took sanitation. We were treated with kindness and respect. Facility is fabulous. Food was great. Great spa treatments and gym. Beach was kept clean and was told snorkeling was great right off beach. Enjoyed the free use of paddle boards and Hobie catamaran ride. Pools were too cool for us but others were getting in. Entertainment was interesting and professionally presented. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
