My family stayed at the Jewel from Feb 8-15 and we loved it. It is a smaller resort perfect for families. Our room was a standard resort room, nothing special but impeccably cleaned every day with a nice little outside seating area. The food was great, I have picky eaters and everyone was happy. They have a jerk BBQ hut on the beach serving jerk pork & chicken every afternoon which was so amazing I don’t know how I am going to survive my boring lunch every day moving forward. The drinks were so good and the bartenders were awesome. They always had a smile on their face and happy to serve everyone promptly. The beach was perfect, white soft sand and clear turquoise water. There was never fighting over loungers or a wait at the bar. Water Park is amazing, the kids loved it. The staff, especially the Jewel Gems (the entertainment staff) were absolutely awesome. My daughter loved dancing with Ice Barbie and Rebble9. We went golfing one day (my husband went 3X) and it can get quite costly with renting clubs, paying for a mandatory caddy & cart rental. My suggestion for anyone going to golf more than once is to bring your own clubs & walk so you only have to pay for the caddy ($15 for 9 holes, $30 for 18) Honestly, anyone complaining about this resort is really never going to be happy anywhere. Complaints about the wifi or lack of variety are so far fetched. I am so happy I chose this resort for our family vacation and I would go back in a heartbeat. I wish I was there now. Great Family Vacation

Feb 17th, 2020

We really enjoyed our week at this resort! The staff's customer service was exceptional. From TaShiela insuring that our room was ok, to our amazing housekeepers, our lifeguards, servers bartenders, even the landscapers stopped to talk with our very inquisitive 2 year old son. They felt like family by the end of the week. Our room was very typical of a beach resort, tile floors that are easy to keep clean, bright crisp white linens, soft sheets and extra pillows were also a nice touch. The beds were comfortable. The room was impeccably cleaned daily by housekeeping. The bathroom was a whole separate room with no door, although the commode had a door. The shower and changing area was not visible from the bedroom, so privacy was not an issue. We brought an over the door rack from home to hang over the shower wall for wet towels and wet swim suits. We hung an over the door shoe organizer in the main bathroom to hold everyone's toiletries and not clutter the counter. We brought an extra towel to place at the patio door so that when we came in from our plunge pool we could dry our feet. The plunge pool was great in the afternoon or whenever our infant was napping. There were also lounge chairs on the patio and a wicker sitting chair. The wifi works great in the lobby, but the wifi near the teen's game room is the fastest! It works all the way to the garden jacuzzi deck as well. We brought our own towels, but the resort had plenty. The waterpark had plenty of tubes whenever we were there as well. No food or beverages ran out no matter what time we ate.. The food was plentiful and there were options for every appetite. This is not 5 star gourmet cuisine, more geared to families, but quite tasty nonetheless! My kids are picky eaters and no one went hungry. The foam pool party and beach party were awesome as well. This was a great vacation, excellent value and truly relaxing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our family experience

Feb 16th, 2020

We stayed at the Jewels in February with my daughter, son-in-law and grand-children. The resort, rooms and beach were clean, bay ocean water clear with no seaweed, beach safe, and water park nice for children. It is a family oriented resort. But it was sub-standard for the other services and activities. The resort is more than 40years old and shows its age. Internet only in the lobby. The concierge was not very friendly and informed. The night shows were very poor; attendance was like 25 people per night ! One restaurant (Platinum) was closed 3 days during our 10-day stay. The buffet, the Trattoria (pizzeria) and the restaurants (2 with no reservations, and 1 Japanese with reservations once per stay only) never changed menus. The food was so-so (more like a 2.5-3 rating). There were many water crafts, but not allowed to use the Hobie Cat unless sailed by a local operator. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful spot!

This resort is great. Not to big and not to small. Service was great. Everyone was asking how the stay was going and what they could do to make it better. Food was good service was fast. Cocktails were delicious beach was beautiful and rooms were clean. It is worth it upgrade to ocean view room. Spa was amazing. Camille and Joy were kind and provided awesome service. The lattes in the lobby were delicious and a must each morning. I would definitely return to this location. We did an excursion to konakco fall, blue hole and luminous lagoon with Kemal Smile as our guide. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I have been to MANY resorts all over the world (some 5 star) and Jewel was one of my favorite. I'm not sure why the recent negative reviews. Did we even stay at the same place????? Anyway, my husband and I stayed at this hotel Feb 1 – Feb 8 and we had the time of our lives. We have been all over the Caribbean and what makes this resort so amazing are the staff and the beach. From the minute we walked into the hotel we felt welcome. We travelled a long day from Toronto where our flight was delayed and when we finally arrived at Sangster the long daunting immigration line was horrifying (we couldn’t get the Mobay club as it was sold out). Nonetheless, after a 3 ½ hour process, from landing, immigration, the wait for luggage, wait on the bus and drive to the resort, it was great to be greeted with such smiles and thankfully, the check-in process was super-fast. Room: We stayed in an ocean front room with concierge (booked through Costco Travel). The room wasn’t exactly ocean front more of a side-view of the ocean with a full view of the small pool and hot tub. Regardless of the view, we had zero complaints about the room itself. The room was cleaned daily with ample towels and supplies. We even had turn down service where they refresh the towels, etc. The housekeeping staff is really pleasant and definitely do a great job. Bartenders: We LOVED the bartenders. Shout out to Kavoy, Philip, Renardo, Leonard, Kerrol, Lorrey, Tomeik, etc…these guys are AMAZING and made our days and nights so much fun. My husband (who is super quiet) even had a great time. Talking with these guys about world events, soccer, etc…loved them all. Beach: AMAZING. The sand is so clean because the staff make sure of it. Unfortunately, there are disrespectful guests who litter with their nasty cigarette butts, plastic bottles and garbage but the staff do their best to keep up with removing what they can so it doesn’t get into the ocean. The ocean is calm and beautiful. This is my favorite part about this resort. Food: While everything else at the resort is fantastic, the food could use an upgrade. Breakfast was probably my most favorite meal. Shout out to ‘egg man’ you make everyone smile and laugh with your knowledge of geography and I loved your heart shaped fried eggs!!! Lunch we mostly ate the jerk chicken and festival or the hamburgers. We loved the beef patties but those are only served every other day. The buffet at lunch wasn’t the greatest (lots of choices) just not appealing to us. As for dinner, it was easy to get into the restaurants. The pizza restaurant service is extremely slow but the food is good. Just a suggestion that you don’t have to serve mashed potatoes with every meal. A rice or maybe even baked potato would be good options as well to change it up. We had a special birthday meal planned for one of our friends and because it was raining that day, it was set up in the chapel. The fish and lobsters looked amazing. I picked the steak (not so great) but everyone else enjoyed the meals. We have to thank our waiter Nicholas who provided us great service. He also took care of us in the Plantation restaurant which definitely our favorite place to eat. The lamb is heavenly !! Overall this resort ticked all the boxes. But the customer service and the staff are what sets this resort apart from the others. I’m not sure if we will be back to Jamaica (other places to go and this was our second time) but I highly recommend this resort to anyone reading this review. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
