Garden View. Kamaaina Special

Jul 29th, 2020

We stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort for two nights in July for my Husband's birthday. I would day that during this time of covid-19, the hotel is operating on a skeleton crew with bare minimum amenities. This is to be expected, however, I was not satisfied with the view. It seemed that the majority of hotel guests were roomed on this wing of the hotel. You would assume that because most of the guests and revenue is coming from Hawaii residents during this time that they would at least try to accommodate their guests a little better. When asked about changing rooms due to the view, they had nothing else available at the same rate. The hotel was empty. This will most likely be our last stay here for a long time. Nice place....but

Jul 18th, 2020

Disclaimer...we visited shortly after Kauai reopened for in state travel (Covid 19) and the property wasn't fully staffed or completely operational.. We had a partial ocean view room (peek boo view) that had been refurbished. It was nicely appointed with a comfortable king bed, Unfortunately it was located above one of the designated smoking areas on the back of the property, so was a bit noisy/smelly at times. I suggest biting the bullet and getting a poolside view room. The multiple pools are nice and definitely family oriented. The hot tubs were still in Covid lockdown as of July 2020. The restaurant and bar on the property are still closed takeout only with limited menus. The spa is also closed. Check their website for deals during this restricted travel time. We had a waiver of the daily resort fee and a rental car for our discounted price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good for traveling with Kids

Jul 12th, 2020

We booked a sweet deal as Hawaii residents for 3 nights. We needed to get out of the house, and 4 pools at this price point was the deciding factor for selecting this hotel with our 2 tween kids. For the price we paid, it was fine. No way I'd pay full price and be happy about it. Pros: Kids loved the pools and the water slide. The grounds are gorgeous, beautiful foliage well maintained. It's on the beach, great for sounds/sights of the ocean (also see cons). It's near the airport and central if your plans include both the north and southwest tourist sights. The restaurant isn't terribly overpriced comparatively. Cons: The buildings and physical upkeep have seen better days. The rooms are small with double beds...Like REAL double beds. We were cramped sleeping. Inside our room was holiday inn express motel size/quality. The TV system was horrible. The drain was backed up. Ice machine on our floor was broken. Due to COVID there wasn't daily housekeeping, which was fine, but after 48 hours our pool towels were filthy. We left them outside the door for housekeeping, who took them, but didn't leave us new ones. The front desk scolded me when I asked for replacements. One restaurant was open for takeout only. The food was hit or miss on quality. The pork tacos were amazing. The kid menu fried chicken was disgusting. Everything else was in the middle. The beach wasn't a swimming beach, it was covered in plastic bits and cigarette butts. Looks like some kids had fun building driftwood forts, but my kids weren't interested at all. Overall, if you get a great deal on the place, it's fine. Kids under 14 will love the pools and chickens running everywhere. If you're after a romantic get away, great views, or beach lounging on the sand, I'd look elsewhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A place for young families with children

Jun 27th, 2020

I would recommend the Kauai Beach Resort only to young families with children. If one came to Kauai for hiking, it’s much better to stay at North side or inside the Waimea Canyon State Park. If one came to the island for water sport, North and South sides are better than the East side where the hotel is located. As a matter of fact, hotel’s beach is not useful at all because of rough water and wooden debris. I stayed at this hotel in June 2020, just after a mandatory quarantine for Hawaii residents was lifted. The hotel was still under renovation with a lot of workers around. A gym was closed, hot tubes by pools did not work, a restaurant worked for take out only. The room 1306 in the Building #1 was assigned to me and my wife. It faced pools and was pretty noisy. The room had a small lanai and was spacious and clean, except for a carpet with dirty spots. I am sorry to say that COVID-19 rules are not enforced at hotel’s premises. Sanitizers are not available at the entrance and by elevators. Most people do not wear face masks by pools and at a bar. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great RESORT - Must Visit

Jun 3rd, 2020

We took advantage of the discount that this resort was offering for local residents with a valid HI driver's license. I can see why this hotel is called a RESORT. First class all the way. The lobby was nice and we were greeted by Kalei Kuhaulua (security) and checked in by Kenny Dato at the front desk. Both of these outstanding team members continued to greet us during our visit. Truly gave world class service. We had an updated room with a pool/ocean view. The hotel was spotless. Due to COVID 19 - only take out was available from the hotel, but it was great and Chef Mark had a special every day in addition to standard salads and sandwiches. The staff practiced masks and social distancing and we were very comfortable and felt safe. There were multiple pools, once with sand and a direct ocean view. Will absolutely visit this resort again, and use it as our "go to" when guests can once again visit from out of town. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
