Boasting the largest single-level outdoor pool in Hawaii, along with flowing fountains, lagoons and a prime stretch of beach, the Kaua'i Marriott Resort surrounds its visitors with plenty of water. Travelers say that the resort's grounds are impressive, and many describe the guest rooms here as comfortable. Accommodations at this Marriott property feature red- and orange-hued decor and amenities like flat-screen TVs and high-speed internet access (for a fee). Travelers highly recommend requesting a room with a balcony so that you can enjoy the resort's pleasant surroundings and excellent views. However, the Lihue Airport is only 2 miles north, meaning that the isolated resort tranquility can get quashed by the sound of a passing plane. So it's not the best place for a quiet, romantic vacation. Still, a stay here will grant you easy access Kalapaki Beach, not to mention the soothing Alexander Spa and Salon, 18 holes of championship golf and several restaurants. Members of the Marriott Bonvoy program can earn and use points here.

Critic Reviews

Renovated in 2009, this 356-room, family-oriented resort on Kalapaki Beach boasts big flat-screens in every room, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, and the biggest single-level pool in Hawaii. It might not have the fancy frills of the pricier Grand Hyatt, but it's still the best resort for the buck in Kauai.

The long escalator to the central courtyard lagoon, the immense statuary, and handsome lobby sporting a koa outrigger canoe make you feel like you've arrived somewhere truly unique. Two shopping centers (Harbor Mall and Anchor Cove) and more restaurants are within a short walk; in the opposite direction lies the 18-hole championship course of the Kauai Lagoons Golf Club.

Travel + Leisure

Contemporary, convention-friendly hotel with Hawaii's largest single-level swimming pool — plus a central location between the north and south shores.

An enormous 26,000-square-foot swimming pool is the main attraction, though the bayfront beach is beautiful too. Note that while it has a convenient location — especially appreciated after a long flight — there may be some noise from Lihue Airport.

Location & Parking

The Kaua’i Marriott Resort is located 2 miles south of the Lihue Airport on the family-friendly Kalapaki Beach. Golfers love the top-rated courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and families love the gigantic swimming pool, but for active singles or couples, the location can be somewhat remote. There are a few shops within walking distance and a public bus stop, but most of the major shopping areas and restaurants are 2 miles west of the resort. The majestic waterfall nearby may look familiar as it was featured in the opening scene of the television show "Fantasy Island."
