Spectacular!

Feb 23rd, 2020

This is the second time wife and I have been here. This property is an example of being able to find a spectacular hotel that’s located away from the normal tourist areas. The grounds are beyond beautiful and the adjacent beach, while a bit compact, is nevertheless wonderful. Highly Recommended TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Definitely will not be back until they update their rooms.

Feb 23rd, 2020

The grounds are beautiful, yes. Service was good too. However, the rooms themselves were not nearly up to the Marriott standard that I’m used to. I am titanium elite, on track to be ambassador this year. I expect a higher standard. The air conditioning I had to set to 65 degrees (the lowest it will go) and it was still very warm in the room. The bathroom shower head was suitable for anyone under 5’5. Being 6’ tall, I had to bend down every time I took a shower. Everything looks like it was redone in 2000. The other floors looked like they had been renovated but ours was not. I used suite nights and they “upgraded” us to this very outdated room. Would definitely NOT recommend or return. I wasted my suite nights on this?? Awful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Very Nice Property for the Whole Family

Feb 21st, 2020

We stay at the Marriott for 5 nights during the first part of out stay on Kauai so we coulf visit the south part of the island. The staff were great and the pool area was great to hang out at. The restaurants were great and busy. There are also good places to eat just across the street. The Ocean Golf Course which is just up the hill is a great course to play. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Solid 3.5 stars

Feb 21st, 2020

I would give this place a solid 3.5 stars but without that option, I went with 4 instead of 3. The architect definitely had some vision - the flower shaped pool, the fantastic swim-to hot tubs, the dramatic high ceilings and indoor/outdoor feeling in the beautiful lobby and lounging areas. They have all withstood the test of time! The landscape architect gets even more respect for the truly lovely lush grounds. But... I paid what felt like a small fortune for an ocean-view room only to find that my 'view' was actually of the back side of a windowless building with some ocean in the distance that wasn't blocked. It really felt like false advertising and when I called to ask for a different room, I was told this room had been 'classified' as an ocean-view room. 'Classified' is definitely not the same as actually 'Being' an ocean-view room, and this feels very unfair to anyone who ends up in the room I was in or those around it (mine was room 501). I have no doubt I was the first to complain, and am certain I won't be the last. After a few unsuccessful attempts at finding someone to help me get what I paid for, a very persistent and helpful manager, Marla (?) managed to find me a lovely room with a real view, and refunded some money for the night in my viewless room. The hotel is probably ready for some updating, ideally starting with a new color of paint as it is currently the color of an English child with a sunburn. And that half the hotel consists of timeshare units sort of speaks for itself. But in the end, I really enjoyed my stay, appreciated the helpful customer service, and would definitely come back again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pool is fantastic, rooms show wear

Feb 20th, 2020

The pool and grounds are lovely. The location with a nice beach, Duke’s next door, and a free shuttle can’t be beat. However, the rooms have not been updated in more than a decade and are really showing their wear. The couch in our room was stained and dirty. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
