Wonderful stay

Jun 17th, 2019

Just stayed 4 nights at Amara and had a wonderful time. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It was very relaxing and you can't beat the view from the pool. The food onsite was really good also - no need to leave the property! My husband loved hanging out at the creek behind the resort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Place

Jun 17th, 2019

The premises are nice..the restaurant staff was friendly. The guest services department will arrange dinner and tour reservations. My complaint lies with housekeeping. Our room was not cleaned after the first night. On top of that the towels that they gave us were filled with gnats. The problem may be due to where the clean linen is kept which is outside by a garbage can. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice sized room, stocked mini fridge and snacks, tub and shower, balcony right in front of creek. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay here next time I’m back to Sedona. Highly recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

WONDERFUL Stay and Service!

Jun 14th, 2019

Never before have I been so excited to write a hotel review -- we had an outstanding time at Amara. The front desk surprised us for our engagement with an upgraded room and complimentary champagne/macarons. The rooms were immaculate, the pool beautiful, and the staff friendly. Overall, we had such a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The Amara team deserves every bit of praise I can give. I will definitely recommend the resort to friends and will be back soon! It was a incredible and memorable experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bitter Sweet

Jun 13th, 2019

Great location (Amara does sit in a valley so it’s a steep walk up to the main streets). Resort takes advantage of the Red Rocks by positioning the restaurant, rooms and infinity pool towards the beautiful scenery. The pool: Smaller Infinity pool, but seemed right sized. Only two cabanas and they were near impossible to get. Easy to get a drink from the pool bar. Nice staff. Small heated spa held 6-8 max. The room: Average size. We were in room 110 which was ground level and had easy access to green space, pool area. Clean room with small fridge that was filled with everything they want you to purchase at premium prices. $7 water, and up from there. Normal resort stuff. The bathroom: A sink used in half baths, with a mirror centered more over the toilet than the sink. Our daughter asked why the TP was soaking wet and I realized that after I had shaved my face, in order to look in the mirror the water all dripped where the mirror was located...where the TP roll was. Easy remedy...just avoidable with basic design. The bathroom could easily have been extended into the closet that was the same size in the bedroom area. Our shower had a vent pipe extending from the ceiling that dripped non-stop and made an occasional loud gurgling noise. It only became an issue when we tried to sleep both nights. I used three of our four bath towels as a buffer to soften the noise but as the towels got soaked, the noise got louder and the gurgling was impossible to predict. Strangest thing I have ever been charged for in a supposed 4 star resort? We aren’t ones to complain so we just went with it, but it was quite the surprise. The “Bitter Sweet” continued when I wanted to simply give my wife a sweet treat the morning of a very special work anniversary for her. The restaurant did not have any dessert she really likes, so I had purchased a caramel lava cake from a restaurant the night before. I simply asked the restaurant staff if they could microwave the sealed container for 20-30 seconds. I was first told they did not have any microwave in the restaurant but perhaps the front desk could heat up for me. The front desk referred me back to the restaurant so I asked someone else. They referred me to the front desk again....sooooo, I walked up the steep hill to a Starbucks who politely heated the cake. I was shocked that no one was even remotely willing to help me with a simple gesture. Most 4 star resorts would have not only warmed the cake but perhaps given me a candle or something else to assist with the simple gesture based on the occasion. Incredibly disappointing. It’s the reason why we were there. We decided to eat at a different restaurant other than SaltRock to celebrate as a result. Nice location, and clean rooms (not sure if the vent pipe was unique to room 110 or if this was part of the special non-microwave deal we got?). If the Red Rocks weren’t the central focal point outside, this is just an average hotel based on our experience. Some staff were very nice. Julie at front desk and Austin the valet were always pleasant and helpful. This resort could be just that, but it’s not. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
