What a nice place! What nice people!

Oct 16th, 2020

If you are staying in the city, this is a great choice. It is next to Union Station and surrounded by lots of great places to enjoy the outdoors, to shop or to eat. The staff is totally wonderful - especially the front desk. You are treated like a welcome guest who is appreciated. The décor is modern but very soothing with leather, stone, woods, fabrics. Very well done and very clean. You might think 'Kimpton' and think very large, and this hotel is large enough to support business events, but it still feels very intimate. The on-site restaurant and adjacent Tavernetta are great. We stayed 3 days and ate multiple times at each. Our room and all public areas were excellent in every way. We would be very pleased to stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stay away!!!

Oct 1st, 2020

Let’s start off with the good: the hotel is super cozy, great beds and rooms, and the location cannot be beat right at Union Station. Housekeeping service is on point. Now the bad: I stayed here in April 2019 and wrote a private letter to the GM as I don’t like writing bad reviews and like to give the business an opportunity to respond. Never heard back. Firstly, I asked the front desk agents upon checking what is their favorite Mexican or texmex restaurant in Denver (this isn’t an unusual question - Denver has a lot of Mexican restaurants). They literally both answered at the same time that they don’t live in this area and don’t know any places. Fine not a big deal but something pretty simple for a hotel without a concierge. Throughout my stay I noticed their were valet and doorman on the front ramp area and not once did they welcome or greet me or open the door. They were always talking to each other. Again - not a big deal but pretty ridiculous at the rate you pay for this hotel. Lastly - I booked this hotel to stay in September at the beginning of 2020 - way before anyone knew covid would be a serious impact to our travel. In June, I learned my mother’s immune system was not well so we decided to cancel our trip on the front end of this trip which means I had to cancel my denver hotel as well. I knew I had booked a non refundable rate but knew that IHG was offering refunds per their policy for stays until August 31st. I asked multiple people for leniency (first of all forget about the GM - no one allows you to speak to them or give you their info). Spoke with Cody couldn’t understand the situation nor could he have a heart and stuck to his guns. I understand everyone is hurting but so am I. I am now unemployed and don’t have $700 to lose. This is an unprecedented time. I need the money for basic necessities such as food and bills; not a luxurious hotel stay in Denver. Then they stopped answering me. After I learned IHG had extended their policy to September booking I tried to contact the hotel again with no help. The finance director Taylor didn’t return my calls or messages (Cody had left the hotel). I called IHG corporate to complain and they confirmed that I was eligible for a refund and I got my refund within a week. What I don’t understand is how can I hotel be so out of touch with What’s going on that someone who has stayed with You before and is a loyal Kimpton traveler can’t be offered an exception. I would totally accept my nonrefundable reservation if these were normal times but their not. Thanks to IHG corporate for realizing that even after the policy was in my favor, forced the hotel to refund me. I had planned on using this hotel to transit between aspen and Denver when the smaller airports were closed or delayed - but never again! I also told multiple family and friends about my experience who I had previously recommended this hotel to when we all go to Snowmass. It’s unfortunate that this hotel doesn’t care about their guests and it shows by no one being able to respond properly or address situations. The hotel could be great - but with the management there I doubt this will happen. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Attractive hotel lacking in matching customer service

Sep 21st, 2020

The hotel is very centrally located and the décor is excellent. Our room was nice, the booking program I belong to would have given us a free upgrade if there was one available but alas there wasn't one. Our view was of an office building, despite being on a high floor we didn't see much else. We requested a few other things like late check out, and that wasn't granted either. Valet was unavailable so we had to self-park in a public structure across the road. Having to travel during a pandemic isn't great. The hotel could not provide bathrobes or slippers as a result and room service wasn't available, citing COVID as a reason. Fair enough, of course. I was very happy with the room but I wasn't impressed with the lackluster customer service. I'm sure it's tiring to have to field all these questions from multiple guests but telling us at check-in or even giving us a letter upon arrival would help that. I'm sure I'm not the only guest who doesn't like to hear "no" at every turn, but of course I understand there are new protocols because of COVID. I would prefer to just be told and save everyone some time and energy. Some pluses: The adjacent restaurants are well-rated and we ate Plan Check's food and it was delicious. The modern art museum is nearby, which is delightful. Whole Foods is also across the street. Very convenient. The area, like much of Denver was very clean but lots of people didn't wear masks outdoors, only indoors, which didn't leave me feeling very safe. However the hotel was nice enough that I would like to return to the hotel to check out the amenities during normal operations. Kimptons are pet friendly, which is always a great reason to pick this nice boutique chain. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Cabin meets Urban -Valet closed - Free Parking -Secret gift

Sep 16th, 2020

This was a very nice and clean hotel right by Denver's Union Station. It had wooden doors with a light stain like a cabin. In the room there were wood features with exposed concrete making it feel like you were in a Cabin but also in The City. Valet is currently closed due to Covid-19 but on the plus side we got free parking. The parking lot is right under the hotel but you have to take 3 lefts and 1 right to get there. The last turn is right before the Bank of America sign on 16th st Mall. There is currently one elevator in service at the time of the stay. Due to Covid-19 only 3-4 people can get in elevator and since one elevator was in service it was quite difficult to catch it down but no problem catching it up from the ground level. The elevator whirrs sort of loudly, luckily we did not stay near it. The staff at the hotel was very welcoming. Make sure to mention the Kimpton secret gift phrase which was "Road Trip" for a bottle of wine, 2 beers, or some snacks. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Covid policies and super clean!

Aug 31st, 2020

We’ve been eyeing this hotel for several years. We finally decided to give it a shot. Our main reason we like this hotel is it’s location at the end of the tracks at Union Station downtown Denver. It’s also located next our favorite Italian restaurant in Denver Tavernetta . Also our 25th Anniversary date night! When we walked in right away we could tell how nice it was going to be and very clean. I really enjoyed their art decor through out the hotel. Check in and out was very easy. Staff did great job social distancing and were very friendly and helpful. There’s 2 nice lounge areas in lobby. They also have what looked like a nice restaurant . We only had OK coffee in the morning before we caught the train home. We got a nice end King bed Suite 701 with the soaking tub. Walked in and greeted with a very nice size bathroom with soaking tub, large shower, separate toilet and ranch style door. Very clean! Room was also a comfortable size room. Good size desk and chair. Another nice chair for chilling out. King bed was firm but comfortable with great pillows ( they sell ). Closet was typical with luggage rack, iron & board, safe, mini fridge and an umbrella also with ranch style door. Power ports in all the right places. Next to bed was a easy to use with instruction card Marley Bluetooth speaker. Nice tv but not really HDMI friendly. Made it work anyway. We had two windows. One with view of Mile high stadium and of 16st . We did use the soaking tub and it felt great. Very nice room! Over all we had a really nice date night. Excellent location with great variety and easy access to variety of shops and restaurants . 16 st buses are free. There’s bikes, scooters and at Union Station Uber/ Lyft pick up drop off. Close to Coors field where the Rockies play. We’ll definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
