Overall a nice stay

Jan 13th, 2020

The hotel is nice, clean and centrally located. The staff were nice, and we really appreciated Isaac from housekeeping for being accommodating as we were travelling with an infant and a dog. We were provided with an extra refrigerator to store baby food, a crib, a dog bed and dog water and food bowls. When my husband made the reservation over the phone, he was asked if it was for a special occasion and he said it was for my birthday. Because of that we thought the hotel might have a welcome gift in the room upon check-in like how many other hotels offer, but there was nothing. It's not a big deal, but those who are looking to celebrate birthdays may want to take it into consideration. We had breakfast in our room. It seemed like the room service menu is of less variety than what is offered at the restaurant downstairs. The food arrived promptly which I appreciated, and I was asked to sign the receipt that just had the total price and line for gratuity before seeing the itemized receipt. The total price had already included gratuity and service charge, but without knowing this I ended up tipping again. My mistake, but I really wish I was given the itemized receipt first. The food was good enough. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fun & Eclectic Rooms

Jan 13th, 2020

My friend and I went for a girls weekend to Pittsburgh and stayed at the Kimpton Monaco for one night. It was centrally locates to the downtown area, restaurants, shops and walking distance to Market Square. The rooms were fun and accessorized in bright bold colors! The staff was very friendly and even offered a list of area hot spots to check out. I’m the afternoon the offered complimentary wine and beer on the mezzanine floor near the fireplace. For a quick visit into town, I highly recommend the hotel. Tip: valet parking at the hotel is $36 but you can park overnight on weekends around the block for $6. Enjoy! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pittsburgh / Fallingwater Visit

Jan 8th, 2020

Everything was perfect at my second Hotel Monaco visit. I made a reservation late on the evening of my arrival and my room was waiting. The restaurant was open late and their Chicken Pot Pie was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel for the location near everything across from the famous Alcoa headquarters. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are very well appointed and large. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One of the Best Kimptons in the Brand

Jan 7th, 2020

I have stayed at this location several times, for a varitey of reasons. None have left me even the slightest bit disappointed. This is really one of the top hotels under the Kimpton name. It is within walking distance of everything in downtown Pittsburgh, both for business needs or a night out, and a short car ride to many other popular destinations. The real shining start at this hotel is the staff and their attention to detail. Rooms are always well appointed and clean. Everyone from the front desk and beyond are friendly. If you are there enough they will remember you. Even if you arent there often, they may remember you. Becky and Christine seem to be main stays at the front desk and are alway super friendly and welcoming when I arrive. They both have a wealth of knowledge of the other Kimpton locations and will be happy to share, if you have time to chat. I occassionally travel with my nephew and his only recommendation for this location would be to adopt the Treasure Chest that the Hotel Lorien has for kids (lol), other than that even a 6 yr old knows how fabulous this location is! What an amazing hotel! We stayed on a pretty quiet weekend so we got a great deal. The rooms were immaculate and the decor was fabulous. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming and when we told them we were celebrating a "moms night in" they offered us two glasses of champagne! There is a wine and beer reception in the evenings and coffee and tea in the mornings. We had some issues with some noise across the hall since there was a banquet room but it was promptly ended at 1030pm so it wasn't a huge let down. Brunch at the commoner was fantastic and the bar as well. We will absolutely stay here again in the very near future! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
