Great stay in cool hotel

May 25th, 2019

I stayed at the Kimpton Monaco hotel in Pittsburgh for one night recently during some business travel. I found the hotel well located in downtown Pittsburgh, a short walk to most places. Check in was quick and efficient, as was check out. Upon arrival I was told that I had missed the complimentary wine hour, but was offered a glass of wine at check in, which was much appreciated. My room was spacious and well presented, with quirky decor. It was a corner room and had good views of the adjacent streets. There is a restaurant on the premises where we enjoyed a good breakfast. One huge good feature of this hotel is that the rooms have mini-bars in them. So many US hotels (including some high end brands) don’t have mini- bars any more, which is a pain when you arrive late and just feel like a snack or drink in your room. Well done to Kimpton Monaco hotel for having this feature. The wifi was free and fast. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel and would look forward to staying here again when next in downtown Pittsburgh! One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had

May 18th, 2019

This was definitely one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, and I travel frequently! The location is great, right in downtown, just be aware that you may be hitting downtown traffic as well. It was nice to have a valet right there ready to help with my bags and park my car when I arrived. Note: parking is an extra fee, just be aware. Typical in most major cities. Check-in was smooth, friendly, and efficient. They even offered a glass of wine upon arrival! The room itself was just HUGE, spacious, and beautifully decorated. There was a little handwritten welcome note on the desk, which was so nice and very thoughtful. The decorations were whimsical but somehow fit well - like going to an eccentric grandmother's house, or a friend who collects random things from around the world. Part of the useful decor was a nice little leather armchair in the corner. The bed was huge and so very comfortable. The night table looked antique but had a USB charger in the side of it, very cool! I didn't have to get on my hands and knees and move it to find an outlet! Convenient! Also on the night table was a Bluetooth boombox for playing music or podcasts from your phone. I didn't use it, but it was nice to have the option. The bathroom was a good size, comfortable, and wallpapered in a cheerful yellow hounds-tooth check pattern. What I really liked about the shower were the large soaps/shampoos in the pumps - no need to use and waste small bottles of product, just pump out what you need! Very nice soaps too, good quality. This whole experience was like a spa! More nice touches: in the closet by the door, among the typical hangers, iron, umbrella, etc. was a yoga mat in a bag as well as a nice robe. Again, didn't have time to use these items, as I was only there for one night, but what great, thoughtful amenities! I was so in love with this room that I did something I never, ever do: put an order for breakfast room service on my door handle! The breakfast was good, expensive, but to me it was worth relaxing in the room a couple hours the next morning, and enjoying the space rather than rushing to a local diner or some such. Nothing beats sipping at hot coffee while reading in bed. The room was very, very quiet, not sure if that's because it was a weeknight I stayed, or what. It was a little late when I got into town, and the restaurant I had planned to eat at was closed, so I dined in the hotel restaurant, The Commoner, and thought it was a fantastic meal, was really glad I ate there, even though it wasn't in the plan! I will review that separately. The next morning I was able to leave my bag with the front desk when I checked out so I could go visit Fort Pitt before getting on the road. On the way back, I texted the valet for my car and it was ready by the time I returned. Oh, and they have bicycles to borrow in the front lobby! Overall, the only disappointing thing was that I didn't stay longer than one night. I'd love to visit again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Time in the Steel City

May 18th, 2019

The Monaco Pittsburgh is the perfect place to stay in the Steel City. Historic building, lovingly restored with modern elegance, the Monaco is ideally located in the center of everything happening in Pittsburgh. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, more professional or helpful. Stay here! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Funky and comfortable..

May 16th, 2019

This was my first stay at a Kimpton property and I quite liked it. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to a couple of requests during our stay, which I appreciated. Our checkin/out was flawless and without issue. The room was funky and trendy and very comfortable although there was a lack of outlets in the room (one beside one of the beds, the other I had to sit on the floor for). The blackout drapes were appreciated for a small sleep-in in the morning. I found the room quite comfortable. There's a popular patio for outdoor drinks and a bustling restaurant down the stairs in the lobby. More surprising was the free wine hour (maybe a Saturday thing?) when we registered, and coffee/tea in the morning although I will complain that the only tea available was chamomile, which is an odd option for the morning. Great location, trendy hotel. I really enjoyed the vibe, decor and general feeling of this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Champagne and strawberries

May 15th, 2019

Another great stay at our favorite hotel in Pittsburgh! If you haven’t stayed here before, you must on your next trip to Pittsburgh. Christine checked us in and upgraded our room. After a few minutes in out King Spa Corner King we got a text from her making sure everything was to our liking. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door and Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were delivered free of charge. Planning a trip to Philadelphia this summer and can’t wait to check out the Kimpton in the city on love! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
