The staff was very friendly, we loved that we could have our dogs stay with us at this hotel, without any third degree or drilling us about out dogs - I like that level of trust where I wouldn't bring an un-housebroken dog to a hotel, and you don't give me paperwork I have to fill out. My only complaint is that the shower in our room didn't deliver hot water so we were given another room 7 floors down and quite a bit smaller. I would have thought we would have been upgraded. But, for the price and for the friendliness of the staff and we were only there one night, all in all a good stay with our dogs. Be prepared to pay extra for parking ($26 with the valet) and extra charge for Internet. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Friendly, helpful staff made for an excellent stay

We arrived quite late and everyone from valet attendants to the front desk staff greeted us well and with no judgement. It was really nice to arrive to that, as we were very tired and had to take care of a lot of things once we got there. Everyone was wearing masks and there were plenty of cleaning/cleansing supplies readily available. We had a lot of luggage and were quite hungry, and we received plenty of help and good recommendations. We felt welcomed and were relieved to have such a nice, clean room to rest in. The room was large as well, especially for a boutique hotel. Our view was of downtown's cityscape, and due to the location I'd assume that everyone's view is similar. The elevators, however, were well-appointed but on the small side. The hotel area felt safe enough, though we did see some homeless people walking around upon check out. I love booking at Kimptons because they're dog friendly, and this was no exception. Checking out was easy and contactless. That said, some facilities at the hotel were not available because of COVID regulations which is understandable and appreciated. Kudos to the Kimpton SLC, we had a great overnight stay! I really enjoy the decor in Kimpton hotels and this location was beautiful. It was our second stay here. HOWEVER, we arrived late after along day of travel and were expecting to have room service dinner. The restaurant was closed! That was a huge disappointment. Trying to get food delivered was a major hassle. I guess when traveling while we are under the COVID situation - we need to double check what is available and open at all locations. A few misses, not likely to go back

We chose this hotel as we had some IHG points to use. If you like a historic building, it could be a good choice. For us, it was not our favorite place. The staff was very friendly and they took care of the issues I reported. Small annoyances, but they made it right. The misses....no wash cloth at all. Only hand towels and bath towels. Also, they had large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. That was fine, but they left a small bottle of shampoo instead of lotion. Not a big deal, just annoying. Pillows are ultra soft. We prefer foam pillows, but did not request as we forgot to check before going to bed. One other annoyance- when we checked in, they offered bonus IHG points or $10 toward mini bar items. I opted for minibar, only to discover when we got to our room that the minibar was empty. Apparently they have moved all minibar items to the front desk and you have to get them there. Again, not a big deal, just would have been nice to know when they offered the option. Overall, the room was clean, if tiny. We had a hard time getting it cool enough to sleep. Temp seemed to fluctuate a lot during the night. For some inexplicable reason, the hair dryer was found in the closet. That toon a little searching when getting ready in the morning. As I stated above, the staff was friendly and took care of the issues when reported. Even with that, we will choose someplace else if in SLC again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hyatt House right down the road is so much better. I am an IHG Ambassador and a Platinum level member and this place is a dump. I was given room 326 which was right over the garbage so I got to listen to them the dump the restaurants wine bottles and garbage at like 10:30 pm ( late enough to wake me) and then the water that night when my girlfriend went to shower took 30 minutes and then in the morning I HAD NO HOT WATER TO TAKE A SHOWER IN. How could the staff not know this? I have to believe they did and did not care and gave me the room anywhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
