Best Dealers and Craps Staff in Lake Charles

Oct 27th, 2020

Had a great time at L’Auberge even though the area is working to recover - this Casino has the right formula of Friendly staff at its table games (BlackJack and Craps for me) to make it a memorable visit. Supervisors also very social and engaging to make sure we were doing well and if needed any beverages. Also the focus on good hygiene, wearing masks, cleanliness of table/floors was evident at all times making for a safe environment. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Racist

Sep 28th, 2020

Couldn’t accept work permit as a form of ID to enter the casino but they did to book a hotel room, that’s nonsense. I don’t have another form of ID because DPS was closed during the pandemic and now there’s a long wait to get an appointment for driver license and ID. Casino hosts were rude and racist, we traveled because of my wife’s birthday and I wasn’t allowed in. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hats off to the management of LAuberge by opening the hotel the first responders and the parking for relief efforts. It is nice to know you can count on the management to do more than just keep the doors open they made an all out effort to support the community TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great getaway

Aug 25th, 2020

Nice drive-able getaway. This past week we drove 4.5 to Lake Charles. Did not realize so much there to do. We stayed at two different resorts. L’auberge for two nights and the Golden Nugget for one, more about them later. The first day we just walked around the resort and did the lazy river pool. You do have to wear masks through out the resort except in the pool. The next day we went to Sam Houston State Park. It was a 15 min car ride from the resort. It was $3 per adult to get in. There we biked the trails and then did some kayaking. This is a very large state park with cabin rentals besides tent and RV sites. It consists of 1087 acres of woodlands, lakes and rivers. There is also a large disc golf course. The next day we did part of the free creole nature trail tour. This is an app that takes you to many different nature areas and all is free. There were stops where you can crab or fish. Stops along beautiful beaches one is called Holly Beach which has lots of sea shells all over the beach. The creole nature trail takes you to places where you see alligators. All of which is free and you can stay as short or long as you like at each place. There is also a ferry ride with your car on part of the crime trail. It is a very quick ferry ride to the other aide but you will see dolphins playing around next to the ferry. There is also a local pink one but we did not see that one. The next day we did a tour from the Lake Charles app that you download and follow the directions and will tell you historic places along the city. All of this was free and interesting. For the resorts. Each resort has their own golf course. Golden Nugget states theirs is one of the top ten I think in the states. I do jot golf so I can not actually state and compare them. Both resorts checks of temps before going into the casinos and all did spacing between slots or have plexiglass in between them. For the best room I liked the Golden Nugget. The room was bigger, had a balcony and a table with booths to have meals in. I love the balcony. Plus their rooms were cleaner. They both had great service. For pool areas they both had lazy river pools. L’auberge was longer and more tropical but Golden Nugget had a slide and a waterfall. I guess it depends what you are looking for. They both had beaches but the Golden Nugget had a restaurant with cocktails on the beach. We ate two meals at L’auberge. The Asian restaurant was fantastic but Jack Daniels was just fair. Their brisket was terrible. We did not eat at Golden Nugget due to the Mexican restaurant we wanted was closed. Each room at each resort had individual coffee supplies but there were not any refrigerators or coolers in either room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
