Stay Somewhere else...This is NOT a "good" Hotel

Mar 17th, 2020

Our Stay was Fraught with issues from check-in to check out... Below is the exact letter I sent to the GM after being prompted for feedback: Hello, There is rarely a situation that I respond to feedback inquiries with anything but positive reviews, but our stay at L'Horizon was 'shaky' to say the least. There are things that cannot be helped, and even though they are inconvenient, it is something everyone just works through, such as the card machine breaking down and having to be escorted to our room for entry. But from check-in to check out, our stay seemed to go awry at every step. -I had pre-paid for my room through Hotels.com, and when I arrived at the hotel I gave a card for incidentals, which was re-charged the full amount...I have had 500$ holds placed, but the full amount charged seemed different and it didn't build confidence that this was a normal procedure that the front desk staff looked frazzled and unfamiliar with the process. -I reserved a Pool View Room for two nights, and yet when we got to the room we had a sliver of lawn view room next to the water/jacuzzi system which hummed. Machinery is a necessity and it is an Updated Motel but there is no reason Bungalow 14 should be sold as a "pool facing suite". -Breakfast was delicious but the staff seemed insanely unorganized, which again during this health scare is understandable and we all have to be patient, but that being said weird things started to happen. Our Bill for breakfast came on two different checks because the server didn't know how to key it in as one...I checked the bill and it was correct, so no harm...but it made me aware that staff at the hotel were unfamiliar with the systems. -Fast forward to lunch, and the waiter slipped and spilled a drink on my wife, who was sunning...again, we all slip it's not a big deal. Still, I will say I was surprised when the drinks arrived again MUCH later, and they weren't comped or discounted after the spilling, I mean at the Ritz Carlton my entire spa treatment was comped because the masseuse's phone range during the session even though I protested that again... it's not an issue at all. -For lunch, we ordered two Market Salads from the bar about 15mins before lunch began...our Salads were forgotten about and finally arrived an hour and a half, later and we could tell they were hastily thrown together. When we received the bill was incorrect by roughly twenty dollars, which was corrected, but again the staff wasn't paying attention to details. -The spa canceled our reserved treatments because the spa was flooded. Palm Springs received very little rain as compared to Santa Monica, so to have a key facility/service that is a draw for guests flooded due to moderate rain is strange. -Upon checkout, I was handed a bill of charges that included the full price of the room. I explained the room was prepaid, and the staff looked bewildered and confused with now about five staff members crammed behind the front desk wheres as there was one very stressed out sweating with his shirt wrinkled and untucked staff member when we arrived. I was assured that the room charges would be refunded in 7 days and that only the charges during our stay would show. Again considering everything I will be watching my account and if by next Monday it is not resolved, I am asking American Express to flag the charge and recoup on my behalf. It's a beautiful Hotel, and the staff was very friendly. Still, we were VERY disappointed with L'Horizon on about every level...if asked if I would stay again, my immediate answer would be no Opting for La Maison or the Desert Riviera. Again I hope this review is used for spot-checking areas that L'Horizon that can be improved, and I hope the charge to my card is remedied before I have to initiate a claim. Thank You, Deryk Schlessinger TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Do not book this hotel

Feb 28th, 2020

My husband and I booked and paid for a room at L’Horizon several months in advance. Two days before our scheduled arrival, we received a call from L’Horizon informing us that they were overbooked and that we no longer had a room. They offered to put us up at a sister property, The Weekend, which is not comparable to L’Horizon and was not an acceptable alternative. We called multiple times over two days asking to speak to the manager, Becky. She never returned any of our messages - we even sent her an email, to no avail - and we received no further communication at all. In the end, we scrambled to book another hotel room at the last minute. As frequent travelers, we have never been treated so dismissively and unprofessionally by hotel management in response to such a mishap. According to the front desk, we were not the only guests in this situation, so I wanted to warn others not to book this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

FANTASTIC!!!

Feb 24th, 2020

The staff is superlative. The food was excellent! The bar is great and for guests only. The rooms, private patios and hot tub all felt very private. One of my favorite places I’ve stayed. I will definitely be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t make a reservation here unless you ultimately want it to be cancelled by the hotel.

Feb 23rd, 2020

My fiancé and I made a reservation at this hotel in December of 2019 only to have it cancelled (today) by the hotel due to overbooking 4 days before our check-in. They moved our reservation to a sister hotel that is cheaper and not at all equivalent to L’horizon in terms of price and aesthetic. Now, because we’re 4 days out from our trip, every other property we considered is sold out. POS move by the hotel. Would never EVER consider re-booking here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary Get Away

Feb 21st, 2020

The reviews on this site don't tell the half of the beauty of this place nor the half of the ineptness of the staff. It is sad. It is a excellent example of a great team with a great product and no great leadership. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
