I went there for a business trips and had two terrible nights, because this hotel is so noisy. It‘s whether the cleaning stuff which is on duty til late night or the sound of other guests closing their doors or just being loud. Thin walls make everything hearable. It for sure was a fancy plays some years ago but now it needs some renovation. Apart from that: Beautifully located, the beach just on the other side of the road in a quite safe area of Rio, about 30km outside the center of the city. And the stuff is really, really nice. Breakfast is also nice, but make sure you come early - at around 10am it looks like a plundered cheap hostel at the buffet. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel on the beach, a little way from the hustle (safer?) of Copa, Ipanema etc. The beach is less crowded. The downside is it is further into ‘downtown’...in awful Rio traffic. A few restaurants are nearby, along with a churrascaria. Rooms are nice, rooftop infinity pool has a great view. Nice (not new) lobby area, with friendly staff who try to be helpful. Unfortunately, only a few speak English. Same for the attached restaurant (not owned by hotel). Waiters spoke virtually no English. Tablet style menus do have English descriptions. The included breakfast buffet is excellent. Kudos to Rivaldo (doorman) and Bernardo (desk clerk), both of whom spoke English and made extra effort to be of assistance. While the hotel does not have a money changing ability, Bernardo provided a good recommendation. Money changer ‘cambios’ are in the area, but they are not open on Sundays. Note: you need a passport to buy Brazilian Reals. The Barra Mall ‘is’ open (10 minute cab ride), but their exchange rate was pretty bad. Re. Taxi’s, hit or miss - one taxi driver (the recommended Yellow Taxi company) took us for a ‘ride’, running the meter up by about 10 reals (iPhone GPS showed us going in the wrong direction for a while). We informed the hotel who said they would inform the company...but I’m not confident they did. Only negative has been mentioned before, thin walls. Nearby room TV’s can be heard, as well as the motorbikes going by at night. Overall good, if not a solid 4. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My family and I took a trip to Barra as we wanted to experience some quiet luxury away from Copacabana for my birthday. LSH did not disappoint check in was quick and seemless my partner phoned ahead to tell them it was my birthday and my room was upgraded to a sea view in addition to this, they also left a beautiful cake, balloons and a card in the room, which was lovely! The rooms were modern and well maintained and the extra touches such as the l'occitane Brazil toiletries provided were lovely. We did have a leak in the walk in shower, but this was dealt with immediately by reception who arranged for a repair. We headed up to the pool bar on the roof we were pleasantly surprised that they had a DJ playing music. There were two areas with Loungers which were separated by the infinitely pool. The areas although quite intimate were well maintained and staff were very helpful and friendly and kept the Caipirinhas flowing. The views from the pool were amazing! It was a lovely way to spend a chilled birthday. My partner wanted to jet ski and reception staff went out of there way to provide information and arrange a time to attend, and although he was informed once he arrived they only provided tandem rides (not a happy bunny) The hotel provided information where he could do this once we returned to Copacabana. My experience at LSH was amazing, the location was lovely with perfect views of the mountain and beach. We were not disappointed it’s a a great place to stay if you go to Barra. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great location and helpful staff

Located in Barra de Tijuca, which is a less crowded beach area vs. Copacabana & Ipanema. We quite enjoyed the hotel and less busy surroundings. They have arranged beach chairs/umbrellas and service right in front of the hotel on the beach. We didn't end up using the rooftop pool, but we checked it out and the views were amazing. We have to mention the service we received from Manoela. She worked at the front desk/registration and was very friendly and helpful. The first person who checked us in gave us the wrong floor and room type based on our pre-booking. When we went back down (didn't unpack) we worked with Manoela who quickly recognized that we had booked a much superior room and view. She made the correction and gave us a new room. We were very happy for the immediate correction and not having to wait. She also was helpful with nearby bar and restaurant recommendations. Manoela made a big difference in our satisfaction at this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
