The best (and last) week for a while
May 6th, 2020
After our cruise from Sydney to Singapore was canceled at the end of February, we looked for a substitute vacation and chose Zihuatanejo the site of a fondly remembered family vacation from 1999 or so; through a very odd set of circumstances we ended up in Room 26 at La Casa,a seldom used room high up in the third tower of rooms; the room was small but charming, but we were happy to be in this lovely resort, and things only got better from there. The week we were there, March 14-21, turned out to be the week of closures, and many people canceled their reservations. Consequently, the resort went from full to nearly empty by the end of the week. We were transferred to Room 3, a lovely suite overlooking the infinity pool, with a private sun deck. It was exquisite. This resort is very well designed with many hideaways and places to relax, wonderful artwork, sculptures and decorations, and fabulous service. Breakfasts were great, with Lime Pancakes available, fresh fruits, juices and pastries and wonderful Mexican specialties. Lunches were somewhat limited, but there were several delicious items including octopus and shrimp tacos. Dinners were well prepared always with a significant amount of choice, and wonderful fresh fish. All meals are served in a wonderful out door location, with dinners overlooking the bay. The only thing not up to snuff were some of the other patrons; even when half empty they had to ignore the many posted signs and put multiple place holders down for hours at a time; this is one thing you can't control, and there were so many beautiful places to lounge that it was a minor annoyance. Lovely service throughout the resort, with ice water always available. The resort has a walk down entrance to La Ropa, which is a nice beach used by locals and tourists alike. When we left on the 21st they were preparing to close on March 23; heres hoping they can seamlessly reopen. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Once In A Lifetime!

My husband and I were there in March to celebrate my big birthday. We had been there for a cocktail 20 years before and were so looking forward to actually staying in the lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we felt special! The hospitality, service, food and views of and from the hotel were excellent. We had a lovely room with a plunge pool and although we only used the pool a few times during our stay, it made for a very nice ambience to the patio overlooking the ocean. The layout of the hotel makes for complete privacy as there are no 2 rooms near each other. We ate in the restaurant several times for breakfast and once for dinner overlooking the water and the food was not only excellent but, also in an intimate setting. Every day they made a floral pattern on the bed and even made a special happy birthday for me on the day of my birthday. We will definitely go back on other occasion! If you are looking for an intimate get away at the beach this is your place! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Having heard of this hotel while working in the travel industry, I always wanted to try it. We were there in early February and it was better than imagined. We had a room with a plunge pool and a gorgeous view. We ordered breakfast every morning and had it on the terrace overlooking the bay. Dinner our first night at the very best table was wonderful. We may gat a smaller room next time as we did not use the plunge pool much. Needles to say, we will definitely go back and plan to stay longer next time. The staff, the accommodations, the bar with music, the food, the decor, the serenity could not be better. Great tips from the desk for beach and restaurants. Thank you everyone at Casa que Canta! Heaven in Zihua

My husband and I just spent a week of pure joy at La Casa Que Canta. I’m actually having a hard time finding the correct words to use to describe our stay. From the first moment of walking through their doors you are made to feel like you are not only a special guest but like a member of the family. The service from everyone is excellent. The servers are always making sure you have water filled glasses near you at all times while at the pool area. But they aren’t hovering over you. They just know when to be there and when not. The restaurant is excellent as well so we only ventured out twice for dinner or lunch. As a hotel guest you can have breakfast and lunch and this is not open to the public so there’s no waiting. Dinner one should have reservations. We celebrated my husbands birthday and it was wonderful. From the flower decorated bed to the special birthday plate served during breakfast. Every room has an ocean front patio view. Some rooms have plunge pools too. But the two pools at the hotel are perfect. One fresh water infinity and the second an ocean fed delight. If you want a beach day, a short hike to Playa La Ropa is there. Find a beach chair at a restaurant and spend the day as long as you buy food or beers! I want everyone to know this is a special hideaway of pure bliss. Even though I would prefer to keep it a secret so we know we can stay again. Mucho Gracias, La Casa Que Canta TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A group of friends went and had supper here one evening. Saw one of the best sunsets in Zihuatanejo. The restaurant was nestled in the side of a hill close to the waters edge. The service was outstanding and so was the food. The waitperson brought a platter of fresh fish and explained what type, how it was prepared and options, if anyone wanted fresh fish. I had grouper and it was fantastic! There’s a variety of other foods available on the menu. I’d highly recommend this place! It’s top of the line! Yes, it’s spendy but well worth it. Great place for romantic meal too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
