A fine sense of place.

I've stayed at 5-star places and student-budget toilet-down-the-outside-stairs places. La Fonda may not be as expensive as the Dorchester in London (although it's pretty dear), but it stands out. Above all, there's an aesthetic there that is remarkable. The art in the halls, the furniture in the rooms, the style of the lobby - it all speaks to where you are. We were there just before this year's Indian Market, and there was a lot going on. The lobby is superb for people-watching, especially if there's a function going on. I stayed on points, not cash, and we had a large room with two beds and a sitting area, and, yes, there was a tub. Rooms near us had kiva fireplaces, I noticed, as doors were open for housekeeping. Plenty of bottled water in fridge and in wardrobe. Alas, I couldn't get the Nespresso to work. Very, very comfortable beds, and delightfully quiet despite overlooking the street that's the southern edge of the plaza. Had a drink at the rooftop bar, very pleasant, and no rushing us even though it was busy. Bell staff very helpful as we went out to get a rental car and bring it back to get luggage and half our party on the last day, when streets were closed for the setting up of the Market. Great staff overall. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location, location, location

The best location in Santa Fe. Besides from that, thought hotel was very ordinary, nothing special, especially for their prices! Another plus, they have a parking garage for an additional charge. But, parking is very hard to come by, so it's an advantage, for sure. Prefer hotels with more warmth, charm and character. This really felt like it could be a Holiday Inn or similar, except for the price! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quaint early 20th century local flavor

Small bedrooms decorated with original art from “The Indian School”. Showers only, no tubs. Bathrooms small, fine for a single traveler, may be tight for a couple. Comfy beds. The steep staircases may be difficult for older travelers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sergio's Rock

What a great dining experience. Both our waiter and busser were named Sergio. And they were both top notch. Food is excellent. And if you want a large delicious portion of gelato, this is the place to be. Great homemade salsa with your chips. When in Santa Fe, make sure you stop by here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Santa Fe, yay

This very local Adobe style hotel is large but very nice. The rooms are good, the beds are good and comfy, WiFi good, on site pool, valet parking only. On site bar and food and many nearby options in and around the town square. Very cool places. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
