Overview

Located in Winslow, Arizona, about 86 miles east of Sedona, La Posada first opened in 1929 and was once a popular getaway for such celebrities as John Wayne, Shirley Temple, Clark Gable and Amelia Earhart. Carefully restored by owner Allan Affeldt and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the current hotel stands as a living tribute to the region's heritage. Guests rave about La Posada's Southwestern design — featuring antique furnishings and local artwork — and homey atmosphere, which can be attributed to the friendly staff. And though it doesn't boast a cutting-edge infinity pool or a fitness center, travelers say La Posada makes up for it with its on-site museum and art gallery. Guests also love strolling through the hotel's gardens and enjoy the ambiance while dining on gourmet Southwestern cuisine in the Turquoise Room.
