Cockroaches and standing water

Mar 9th, 2020

There were dead cockroaches all over the room and bathroom. We cleaned up no less than seven cockroaches during our stay. There was standing water in the tub that couldn't drain all the way making us unwilling to shower. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Do not stay here! We stayed here before we went on a cruise. We actually went down the night before so we could get a good nights rest before the cruise. BOY, was I soooooo wrong! The 1st room was dirty, floors, beds, bathrooms were filthy. We moved to the 2nd room because did not work. Got to the 2nd room and basically the same thing. But the ac only made a noise. Controls never worked. We were moved from a king size bed in the first room to double beds in the second room because the office said they were out of king size rooms. He said he was not going to charge me more for the double beds! I could not he said that to me!!! The second room was just as bed. One of the beds had makeup and dirt in it so my wife and I had to share a double bed, rediculous! We were exhausted after a long day of work and a long drive. We had to suvk it up and try to sleep. We got out as early as we could because it was so bad. So please, please, please do not stay at this place.!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The room was dirty. Floors were not cleaned. AC stopped working on the first day. We asked for another room and they were going to downgrade rooms when there was other rooms available. Never stay here TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A lot to be desired

Feb 25th, 2020

We stayed at the La Quinta before taking a cruise out of Galveston. We arrived around 9:30 at night. The first impression is the hotel is actually a motel. Rooms are accessed from the outside with stairwells that can be accessed by anyone walking by. When I entered the room, I found an empty soda bottle on the ac/heating unit. On the surface the room looked acceptable; however, when I went to get into bed I discovered that the sheets had not been changed from the previous guest. There was hair on the sheets and pillowcases and marks on the sheets. This was at 10 at night after a long day of travel with 2 children. The front desk sent someone to change the sheets. The bath tub was stained and looked dirty. The floor throughout the room and bathroom is some sort of laminate tile and had a sticky feeling to it. It also did not seem like it had been cleaned well between guests. The breakfast that is included is pretty limited compared to that offered by other hotels at this same price point. We ended up eating at the Denny's next door. There is not much else within walking distance for restaurants. If I were to cruise out of Galveston again, I would choose a different hotel. Get the Suites

Feb 24th, 2020

I would not stay at this hotel without being able to get the suites. The rooms are large enough for you to move around. The beds are comfortable. We had a sofa and a recliner. The large window provided a full gulf view of the beach. We loved it. The staff was awesome and the few times we needed help they seemed to go out of their way to help us. Thank you so much to Dan and the wonderful maintenance man. I apologize for not remembering your name. That built-in Chromecast TV just didn't want to work for us, but between all the helping hands we finally found something that worked. LOL. The only thing that concerned us the whole trip was how the lobby area closed up and locked up for the night. The suites have a direct access to the lobby via a stairway and my husband was looking forward to being to walk down and visit with the staff if he had a problem sleeping. It unnerved him to discover we had been locked in. If crime is that bad in the Galveston area perhaps we should rethink our vacation locations. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
