A title of "dirty" would have been an improvement

It is very frustrating when you have been traveling all day and walk into a hotel room and find that it is filthy. I was told there were no more rooms and the front desk clerk, although very nice, could do nothing but write it in the comments. I was told by him and the cleaning lady the next morning that they had been completely overwhelmed and didn’t have enough people to clean. In my way of thinking, when you manage a hotel, you have a backup plan if you find yourself short of house keepers. You never let a customer walk into a dirty room. Here is what I mean when I say filthy. There was hair on the bathtub. No one had cleaned behind the toilet. There was a ridiculous amount of dust and dirt buildup in almost all corners. (see picture of my Clorox wipe in corner near bathtub). There were greasy finger prints on the head board. There was a penny and dirt under the sink counter. There was something sticky on the front of the desk. Our dog found a broken cracker under the base of the bed. The bathtub faucet and surrounding stainless steal . had not been cleaned. Luckily, I had Clorox wipes and used half a canister and a half hour wiping every surface down. The next morning I went to the lobby to get some hot water and the front of the microwave in the lobby looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in a month. When I write a bad review, I also try to make a suggestion. In this case I would have to suggest a complete retraining of not only the house keeping staff but the front desk. Exceptional cleanliness as well as excellent customer service is absolutely essential. This shouldn’t have to be said but apparently it does need to be said. At a time when no breakfast is being served, there should be enough time for the overnight clerk to make sure that things in his/her area are wiped down. During these especially difficult times, every door handle should be wiped down regularly. As I mentioned earlier, if for any reason, there are not enough housekeepers who come to work, then an extensive list of temps or a temp service should be on call. At the risk of being redundant, no one should ever walk into a motel room that is filthy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our room was filthy! It didn’t look as if it has been vacuumed in a year. There was some sort of black stain on the bed skirt which looked like tar. Completely run down and horrible. Our door lock didn’t even latch correctly. I thought that the hotels needed to do more and better cleaning with the Covid 19 pandemic. Evidently not LaQuinta! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Traveling through Missouri (with a pet) after a long day of driving. Easy access from interstate. Room was clean & updated. (looks like there may be some rooms that are not updated). Would stay again if the we were in the area! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Someone Hire Jake!

I was traveling from Utah to Illinois to see my ailing elderly mother. The Covid 19 virus had just shut down many schools. My friend did a quick search for me when I was on the road. I called while driving (Bluetooth). So I call Wyndham. I asked them what their best rate was. They told me it was $60.00 with tax. "The rate on the internet was $12.00 cheaper". "Oh well the website isn't updated" I paused for a second, ok..."I would like to make a reservation". I start to give my information. We get to the credit card part of it. "I can't give you my credit card now, I am driving" She replied, "I will wait for you to pull over" she said. "I am in rural Kansas, this can take awhile". "I'll wait" "Only 3 rooms left!" Fine. Made the reservation. Then I was transferred to be given a 5 minute timeshare pitch. I get there, 3 cars in tbe lot, a tweaker running around the front door, and a hotel that needed many updates. A sign in the lot that informed me they were not responsible for my "lost or stolen" items and that I should remove allmy valuables. The front desk clerk, Jake could not have been more helpful and pleasant issuing me a refund. Someone offer Jake a job at a nicer place TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Friendly and safe but poorly maintained and dirty.

It’s ok with me if it isn’t new and fancy but there is no excuse for dirty and unmaintained. Just vaccine the edges and do some moping. See a corner of wallpaper lifting, glue it down before it looks like this place did. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
