Atrocious. Stay at the Hyatt next door instead.

We're all looking to save a few bucks sometimes, and it's often worth the drop in quality. With the price of La Quinta Miami East, I could forgive the thin walls that let me hear the conversations next door (which, for those of us next to the break room, were especially loud). I could forgive the weird design that blocked off the rest of the room when you opened the bathroom door. I could forgive that the entire carpet was slightly damp for some reason. I could forgive the weird lack of pillows and any toiletries. I could forgive that the one computer that made up the business center was down. Since our stay was during Covid-19, I was also willing to forgive that the airport shuttle and free breakfast still being advertised online were not operational, and that the front desk was down to a single overloaded staff member. What I could not forgive was the "fire alarm test" that started at 9am and was still continuing when I left at 11:30am. I don't mean a brief loud noise, or having to go out of the room: I mean a blaring call sounding for 15 seconds every 3 minutes. I did a decibel reading and it measured out at 84, which is a perfectly normal volume for an alarm that makes people leave the building but is well in the range to cause hearing damage to humans when it goes on for more than an hour, which it did. The big draw of this hotel was being pet-friendly, and my cats hid in terror during the full 2.5 hours of "it will be over very soon" that was all we could get out of the staff member at the reception desk. This was apparently scheduled in advance, but nothing was told to the guests until the alarms started blaring and we all asked about evacuation. Not a single discount or placating measure was offered as guest after guest asked what was going on. We checked into the Hyatt next door for $15 more a night and carried our traumatized cats over while the alarms were still blaring. The Hyatt's rooms are clean and quiet and I highly recommend spending the extra money to go there instead of this terrible hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Ok for a quick overnight stay I stayed 8/27/20

I'm not a picky person at all... I don't need much as far as a hotel stay. Basic is fine. But two people in a room should be allowed to have two washcloths. The guy at the front desk said only one per room. Ok..really? The card they give you upon check in says Hand sanitizer in all guest rooms. None here...asked at the front desk, he says we have some in the lobby...ok..really? No breakfast and the sundry room was closed apparently due to Covid. Ok... maybe should have told us this when we booked. Couldn't even buy a bottle of water and there's nothing close by to get anything. Ice machine on first floor and second floor was broken. Got ice on the 3rd floor and we were staying on 1st floor. Oh well... then the smoke alarm kept beeping because the battery was dead... ok...I removed the battery. Other than that it was ok. Room was very dated and very basic. No coffee pot, no toiletries except a bar of soap. One night was ok because It was fairly cheap. $63.00 a night. It is what it is. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Very poor quality of service
Aug 12th, 2020
Don't go there. The quality of service is extremely poor. The staffs don't act professionality. The card keys don't work because door are rustic and very old. Trash are all over the floor and the staffs don't care. Staff does not communicate with one another to update each other on issues or what had taken place. Staffs there are rude and ill informed as well as security guy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Hotel Overcharged Me
Mar 10th, 2020
This La Quinta in Charged me for 4 rooms when I only booked for two room. I called a week later and they said to call back in a week that those charges were probably in Pending Status. So I did and at that time they said to call My Wyndham Bank (Barclays). After about a month they sent me a letter saying that they were not able to overrride the merchants "no refund cancellation". These were 2 extra rooms that I did not book I did not stay in. The hotel is understaffed, there was always a long wait to talk to the front desk, I would reccomend to stay away from this Miami Laquinta. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Reasonable and clean

Great place to wait for a cruise or a flight. Basic motel with free breakfast. Downside is no one answers the phone because the place is understaffed. This can be an issue if you are calling for the airport shuttle. we waited forty-five minutes for the shuttle and happened to catch one that was circling the airport. They also have shuttles to the cruise port, too. Even though there are no nearby restaurants, there is delivery and door dash. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
