Never prepay your reservation

This hotel has a great location and it is an excellent place to stay if you want to see Columbus. I booked a two night stay at this hotel and prepaid the entire reservation as it was just two nights understanding that if I missed a night I would be responsible. The day we were set to arrive disaster struck and we both came down with a horrible case of a 24 hour stomach bug. Thankfully 24 hours later we were feeling better and able to make it to Columbus for one night of our two night stay. I contacted the hotel letting them know that I wasn't able to make it for the first night of our stay but was still planning on coming for the second night, understanding fully that I would not get a refund for my first night which I was fine with. I was told there was no problem and we could come for the second night of our reservation, which I had prepaid. When we checked in all was good, the front desk had all of our information and we stayed and left. A few days after leaving I checked my AMEX statement and noticed a charge in the amount of one night of our stay at Le Meridien. The hotel had charged us for the night we stayed even though I had already prepaid a two night stay. This despite the fact that I did not make a new reservation, I had stayed for only one night of my two night prepaid reservation. I have never had anything like this happen before so I began by calling AMEX. After staying on the line with AMEX and the hotel for close to 2 hours (1 hour and 48 minutes to be exact) I had a case number and was told to follow up on it in a few business days. 10 days later I contacted the number I was given and referenced the case number given. I kept my cool the whole time understanding that being upset or snippety wouldn't help matters over the phone. However, the people I spoke to on the other end of the line did not extend the same courtesy to me. Most of the people at Marriott were upset I was even on the line (as if I did something wrong or they were too busy to deal with a complicated issue) or just played dumb. After my second round of phone calls (another 36 minutes) with a case number and phone number of exactly where to call. I was again left with nothing. Transferred many times, provided the same information many times, and of course the classic "let me contact the hotel and leave you on hold while I do that". Again I was told that no one was available that could help me and I should follow up later. I know the run around when I get it. But I was double charged and no one can help to correct the situation, the hotel even admits it. I have learned my lesson. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

High Class

This was our second stay at this amazing venue. We stayed here last year for a volleyball tournament. Great experience, beautiful hotel and room. The hotel is immaculate with beautiful art, great service and great amenities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Boutique hotel with fabulous service in a great location

I was recently in Columbus for a music festival. The Joseph is situated in the hoppin Short North area and is easily walkable to many other distinct parts of town (North Market, Arena District, etc.). Everything about the area is vibrant. The hotel itself is filled with local modern art and the service was outstanding. You can even check out a bike to explore the area. Small nit, but I was a little surprised there wasn't an executive lounge given that it's a Marriott property. That said, the hotel had a feel all its own with equal parts of luxury and quirk. For me, that's a winning combination in a boutique hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed

Although the front desk staff is friendly and very accommodating, my weekend stay at Le Méridien was disappointing. The room was clean, but small. The room faced I-670 and you could hear traffic noise. To get the room cleaned required making a request at the front desk after 2:00 PM. There was only 1 very small bar of soap for use in both sink and shower. The used bottles of water and coffee pods were not replaced. All small inconveniences, but all do add up to a disappointing experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous Stay for OSU Grafuation

We had a perfect stay which enhanced our fabulous celebratory graduation weekend. The staff here were all so warm, welcoming & helpful!! The bar/lounge area was a great meeting place for all the celebrating families. The rooms were nice. The location in the Short North can not be beat! The only negative was that the service at the Guild House for breakfast was very slow. No big deal. Lots of great food options on High Street. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
