Unhelpful and unaccommodating

I booked a one bedroom ocean view suite for my stay in Santa Monica at this hotel. When I arrived and saw my room, I did not get the room that I initially had booked. I told the staff and they told me my room was already occupied by other guests. They did not offer to change my room or accommodate me in any way. Instead, they told me I can get a refund and stay somewhere else or have additional fees taken out. I am very displeased with the service here and I do not ever plan to come back. It is not right to be treated this way and say my room was taken by other customers when I had booked it weeks ahead of time. I am very displeased with my experience here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Not the best Le Meridien

I have stayed at several other Le Meridien properties and this one doesn’t hold up. I realize offerings are cut short due to Covid but this is my experience. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Silver elite member and had booked this hotel a few weeks in advance. When we checked in we were told there were no king rooms available which is what we had booked. The hotel was not very full due to COVID (the parking garage was almost empty) so we found this pretty strange. They have no restaurants open, and you won’t even get a coffee maker in your room. The fitness room was closed; pool is open but it’s a small area. Obviously, there is no daily cleaning service which was fine. However when we ran out of body lotion and asked them to send some we got tubes of body wash instead. While the main areas of the hotel look stylish and new you can tell the rooms are refurbished from an old hotel. Our bathroom was particularly in need of attention. For example, the baseboard molding was dirty and part of the cabinet was nailed shut. We had a small balcony that faced Pico so if the door was open it was quite noisy. It is a short walk to the beach and the Santa Monica Pier but the walk down is a little sketchy. Maybe this is typical for the Los Angeles area but we frequently walked past empty wine bottles, trash, and people living on the street. We wouldn’t stay here again. The amount these hotels are still charging with zero service is disappointing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Good Location -Quiet and Well Managed

Planned on staying only one night but I liked the location and the staff was so polite that I stayed for an entire week. Hotels in this area can be very expensive, and this one is reasonably priced. Rooms and beds are very comfortable. A colleague of mine who is an international diplomat visiting from the EU also stayed at this hotel and he was very pleased. My stay was not perfect because operations, were modified due to Covid-19; but when everything is back to normal I would expect this to be a 5 star experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel is way below Le Meridien standards and completely overpriced. Rooms were gross, dirty, and smelled like smoke. Place was mostly empty and they gave us a crappy room. Parking garage is a storage disaster. Location is handy without the crowds of downtown Santa Monica, but best to look elsewhere first. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel looks fairly empty. Def not a high time because of Covid. Gold member with Marriott. Let them know about our anniversary and that I traveled across the country to come here. Was given a small and smelly “ocean view” room. I’ve been to Marriott properties worldwide and this one def falls short, but would have loved if they’d make us feel special with a nicer room and maybe chocolates. We’ve spent our last two anniversaries at Marriott properties and felt like royalty. Ugh. So disappointed. I really had high hopes for this one. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
