Good stay, great beach and location

Feb 16th, 2020

We spent 5 days here at the tail end of our trip to Africa which had been extremely busy and tiring, but excellent. The plan for Seychelles was to slow down, enjoy the beach and explore the island a little bit. We’re titanium elite and had booked on points and used 5 suite upgrades which cleared several days before arrival and we were given an oceanfront suite on the very edge of the property at the opposite end of the property from the spa. We liked the room a lot. We enjoyed the free breakfast every day and found the breakfast buffet to be quite good. We ate most nights at the bar restaurant. The other restaurants were quite expensive. We enjoyed walking on the beach in the morning and at night, swimming in the pool and ocean, snorkeling and paddle boarding. The lobby is open air and beautiful and very much of the area. The property is older and in need of some maintenance, I knew this from the reviews I read before we arrived so it was not unexpected, things like tiles missing from the pool, etc. I’d go back/recommend for the value for points that we got along with the upgrades. I can understand that if you paid a fair bit for your stay here, you would not perhaps see the value for your dollar spent. The staff at breakfast were good, the pool guys were helpful and friendly, the bar staff were inconsistent, some good, others quite slow and not really sure what to do. We covered the entire island during our stay and we thought this location and beach were excellent and the best to be found on the island. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not so great

Feb 14th, 2020

There are several good things and several really poor things about this hotel. The good first: - food has been excellent; tasty well prepared and with reasonable choices - the rooms and property are clean and well maintained - pool is beautiful and so is the ocean view - beds are comfortable The not so good things: - access to the beach is very limited and requires walking a public road - the property is ‘tired’ and needs a full makeover - the buffet was closed - the on-site restaurant is badly under-staffed. Dinner was at least 2 hours even if ordering only a main and desert. Twice we departed without a bill because we had waited so long - the staff has absolutely no hustle in them; they do a favor waiting on you Bottom line- find another hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The best stay i have ever done outside my country

Feb 13th, 2020

This hotel suprises you a LOT! As soon as you walk in , you are greeted by smile and then to overpower that also it just stunning view from reception. It felt so relaxing after long journey that we checked in and came back at reception just to sit for while. Being a Bonvoy member helps and a message i passed to the hotel before arrival and they made my day by upgrading us free to Ocean View room with huge garden infront. The swimming pool is excellent and sunset bar is just awesome. Room was very comfortable of course. You can see crabs, cats etc what not just roaming calmly in resort. Probably the best place i have ever stayed. Hospitality is awesome and people are so helpful that they would personally guide you by marking on city map etc so that you not troubled and tell you exact ways how to reach other destinations. Location is excellent. Just 2 things to keep in mind before even landing in Seychelles. Taxi’s are expensive but you should negotiate as much as possible and hotels are expensive so try to budget everything. On otherhand at hotel, loads of options of liquor and food which is amazing. Nice spot but does not meet expectations...

Feb 12th, 2020

In general, when checking into a hotel of this level, expectations are higher than normal, especially when it is in a place like the Seychelles. With that being said I will get into the details of the bad and the good. Upon checking into our rooms it was evident that the cleanliness was not great. Dirty bathroom, mouldy tile/grout, dirty floors... it just didn’t seem like it was cleaned and our feet were perpetually filthy when in the room. Very poor lighting and a general lack of towels for a beach resort, it just wasn’t what we were paying for. Even upon request for more towels we would have to ask at least 2 or 3 times to get them at some point later in the afternoon. Certain employees were great, especially Bernadette and Rita which we normally saw at breakfast, they were really awesome, the breakfast buffet was great and the views from there are amazing. At this time at least, the beach was not raked, (I’m not sure if this is done normally or not). It was full of debris so we had to walk down to other areas of the beach on different properties to find a nice spot. This was the same for the entire week we were there, thankfully you don’t have to walk too far to get a nice spot on the neighbouring areas. Service for the most part is really slow, and not just slow, but realllly slow. They service the resort our of one kitchen so they appear to always be bottlenecked, regardless of the time of day. Absolute minimum time placing an order to getting food on the table is 45-60 minutes by our estimation. This could be okay for a dinner but even for the simplest of things - apps or just fries and a salad - it just took forever, so plan accordingly. This was not a one off either, I can honestly say we ate onsite multiple times over the week and it was always the same. This is even though there are not many options to eat here but you can get 20% off at the H Resort not too far away. Some of the good things - we had a group of us (7) staying in 3 rooms and always met for breakfast together, they had a large table always waiting for us (like I said, Bernadette and Rita are great). They let us check in very early and recognized our Platinum Bonvoy status with some nice champagne and fruit bowls in the room. the front desk staff are really nice, but sometimes cannot be found. Some points to consider for the hotel itself - your foreign exchange float is way to small, we had trouble changing $200 into local currency... you need to increase this, otherwise people are forced to go into town and find a bank to do the conversion. It seemed like their daily float was no more than $500-$600 and they couldn’t accommodate any conversion above $100. Finally, it didn’t seem like there was any management presence at all, we were always speaking with the staff and never saw a manager and when asked, they were not available. Seemed really weird... Bottom line, at this level of resort, I would expect more understanding, more planning, more foresight into your guests and their expectations of such a place, it just seems to be lacking here. I think the hotel is slowly falling apart due to lack of upkeep, I hope some renovations are being planned. Overall, it squeaks by with an average 3/5 because my expectations were high, but could have easily been a 2/5. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice - relaxed - small

Feb 9th, 2020

Had to find a new hotel since the original booking did not fit - we walked in late evening and the lady at the reception made it possible: standard room price with upgrade to junior suite. Ocean view, relaxed - a dream. Thank you again TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
