Needs Renovations

Jan 25th, 2020

The hotel is in need of remodeling. The furnishings are worn, the decor is dated, and the elevators are clunky. If you are looking for a Marriott-managed property in the heart of the city, I recommend the Marriott La Reforma down the street. I also disliked that the hotel quoted the room rate in US dollars and then charged in pesos at a less favorable exchange rate. The one upside is that the hotel is walking distance from the Palacio de Bellas Artes, in the heart of the old city. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hotel stay

Jan 3rd, 2020

We were a group of about 10 with 4 rooms. I had made all the reservations to make check in easier. However, that's where the trouble started. For some reason, though there didn't seem to be any issue, check in look a very long time- close to an hour. There was a lot of crossing out and reassigning, almost as if they weren't ready for us. We actually arrived just after our check in time due to traffic from the airport. I had requested we all be on the same floor to make things easier, but we ended up on two different floors- not really a big deal just a minor inconvenience. The rooms are all clean and spacious so we had no issue with that. Location of the hotel is okay. However, we knew this before booking. But for those interested, an Uber or taxi will be needed to get to most food/sights. Luckily the Uber rides here are not expensive. There is also a Starbucks attached to the hotel, so grabbing coffee and a bite to eat is fairly easy. The bar however, was not a good experience. We were give drink vouchers at check in so we decided to stop by for drink one day before heading out for dinner. There was a lot of confusion in the drinks (we all ordered mojitos, one non alcoholic), but again this because a very long complicated process. The drinks tasted okay, they definitely weren't mojitos though. I think the staff needs more training and confidence in what they are doing and the experience would have been that much more pleasurable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Ok hotel, needs improvement and more consistent restaurant.

Jan 2nd, 2020

The room was large, the bed sheets were thin and lacking a proper blanket or duvet. We were cold most nights. Our toilet would not flush most times... the housekeeping was very good. Our biggest issue was the hotel restaurant, la gloriosa. It was very slow at breakfast andost of the waiters do not understand English. The hostesses, or women ended up doing all the work. They were very good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Big suite, so quiet, excellent staff

Jan 1st, 2020

Fantastic stay. Room was big plus extra sofa bed. Location was perfect. Our room was by the elevator and still we never heard a noise. But by far, the staff makes this hotel a gem. Everyone from the bellhops to the front desk to the la gloriosa staff to the concierge - especially VIKTOR!! - was so kind. Mexico City is a beautiful city. More people should come.
