A nice local getaway

Mar 18th, 2020

My husband and I picked this hotel for a quick local night away. The hotel is right in front of a bus stop, which is convenient, but just know you have to turn the corner and park on the side for the valet parking. There was no valet parking attendant when we arrived. Double check your rate at check-in - I had booked the CAA rate with parking included and the front desk attendant told me that wasn't possible at first. Make sure you have your confirmation email. I am a Marriot Bonvoy member, so I booked directly on the site. Our room was very nice and quiet - we were actually surprised how quiet it was, being downtown Montreal. In the morning, they put a tiny sign up on the front desk, which we didn't see until we went down to check out, informing us the water would be shut off. Luckily, we had taken our showers before they shut off the water, but I would have appreciated some notice, like a letter, being sent to our room in the morning to let us know beforehand. When we were leaving, the valet almost insisted on handing my car keys to a man - even after I said it was my car, and my name is actually on the keychain of my keys. I'm not really impressed with someone handing my car over to the wrong person. All that said, I appreciated a quiet, clean room and comfortable bed. If you are visiting Montreal, it's a very convenient location and maybe don't bring your car because they may give it to some random dude. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't plan to eat late

Mar 1st, 2020

The hotel and room were comfortable. Modern and midcentury touches. Big problem is the restaurant decides when it is going to close. I went to get a bite to eat at 10.15pm. Restaurant was supposed to close at 11pm. It was already closed. I was told if it is quiet they close up. No warning to guests. Only option was uber eats or walk to find somewhere. Location, friendly staff, good value

Feb 23rd, 2020

We came here on the recommendation of 2 friends. One who used the hotel as her spot when she came to McGill University to visit her child. Another because hotel is reasonably priced and nicely located to metro, and museums, and high end shopping. Many a few blocks walk, right on Sherbrooke. The Mt Royal Park is also a short walk away. The hotel is a bit tired, and bathrooms a bit dated, but it is a small hotel of about 106 rooms and we enjoyed the location, staff, the buffet breakfast each morning, besides the free flowing coffee and tea each day. There are safes in the room, and lovely bathroom amenities. There is an Italian. Restaurant inside the hotel open till late and we had the best pasta there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hotel - could be great.

Feb 16th, 2020

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. We booked far in advance for a weekend away and got a very good rate. The room was very nicely appointed and generous in size. As well, service was friendly. A few minor things made the stay less than perfect. Hotel parking was full, so we had to park a few blocks away. Not that big a deal, but not ideal. The room had a funny smell coming from the bathroom. It went away when we put the stopper in the bathtub drain. We could hear a lot of noise from the neighbouring room - thankfully, when we notified the front desk they took care of it. Finally, the food served at the breakfast was quite good, but they need to learn that on a Sunday morning, they need to re-stock the hot food containers with more food, more often. It’s also a little pricey, but that’s typical in hotels that don’t include a free breakfast. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent hotel

Nice rooms and very well located . Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. The bar staff in particular are very friendly and the bar area is a very nice space to hangout while waiting for friends. I have stayed here a number of times and have never had a bad experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
