Library-themed rooms and complimentary breakfast
Standard rooms are on the smaller side
This charming boutique midtown Manhattan hotel receives high praise from recent guests for its accommodating staff, fanciful decor and unique theme: the 10 major classifications of the Dewey Decimal System. Each of the hotel's 10 floors tastefully exhibits one of these categories from literature to technology to philosophy. The accommodations also come with iHome radios, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries and minifridges, not to mention iconic Manhattan skyline views, in some suites. Additional amenities include complimentary breakfast, free bottled water, cheese and wine each evening and free wireless internet access – all of which are included in the $25 daily resort fee. Although some travelers describe the accommodations as slightly compact, even by New York standards, most cite a very pleasant stay overall thanks to the hotel's inviting atmosphere and prime location.

Critic Reviews

This Beaux Arts-feeling Midtown property is refined, stately and is a great value for all that’s included in the room rate.

A quirky 60-room hotel just a tome's throw from the New York Public Library, this lovingly book-themed tower is a bibliophile's dream stay. It's also within walking distance to many Midtown tourist attractions, several transportation hubs, and enough bars and restaurants to keep one's non-lettered hours plenty busy.

The covered rooftop — a popular happy-hour spot — has bars for all seasons: the Poetry Garden, with orchids, wicker chairs, and a greenhouse roof; and the Writer's Den, a cozy space with chocolate-colored sofas and a fireplace.
