Would love to talk about the experience...

Feb 15th, 2021

We haven't had the opportunity to stay. We booked our room on July 9, 2019 for a March, 2020 arrival, but as we all know, New York was shutting down due to Covid 19. Yes, this was a pre-paid reservation with a no cancellation policy. However, given the worldwide pandemic situation we did hope the hotel would be kind enough to refund our money. Instead they offered a credit. We requested a refund a second time in Oct, 2020 when the pandemic was surging again. We were refused and offered an extension on the credit. We repeated the fact we had no intention of travelling to NY or anywhere for quite some time and that a refund would be appreciated. I must say, this booking was part of a multi-country vacation we had to regrettably cancel. Without exception every single luxury hotel, international flight, tour company (2 multi-day trips) and theatre FULLY REFUNDED our monies. Except The Library Hotel. Customer service is so important in travel and for us this hotel gets low marks for their business practices. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Bibliophile's Delight

Nov 4th, 2020

It's a hotel. It's a library. It's the Library Hotel, on Library Way, a block away from the iconic 42nd Street Public Library. This clean and efficiently-run establishment on 41st Street, just east of Madison Avenue, is a refuge from the noise and bustle of Midtown Manhattan. Each room is a bibliophile's delight, well stocked with dozens of books for reading during your stay. My wife counted 94 in the bookcases of our room, 905. That number is significant because in the Dewey Decimal System the low 900s is the Geography section. And sure enough, books on travel abounded, featuring classics like Mark Twain's "Life On The Mississippi", Paul Theroux's "The Great Railway Bazaar", Frances Mayes' "Under The Tuscan Sun" and Christopher Wren's delightful "The Cat That Covered The World." If geography is not to your taste, try the varied collection in the spacious, comfortable 14th Floor lounge. Sit and read indoors or, weather permitting, outdoors, surrounded by Manhattan office buildings and you won't miss the spire of the Empire State Building, a few blocks to the south and west, poking out from among them. The staff was uniformly courteous and helpful and I want to thank them by name, Arman, Duke, Naomi and Billy. They were affable and kind to us strangers from "overseas" ---from across the East River in Queens--- out for a celebratory weekend in the busy city. For my wife and me this was a birthday to remember, helped along by a well chilled bottle of Mondavi Chardonnay, courtesy of the hotel staff. So, thank you Library Hotel. You will see us again and hopefully in happier and less restrictive times. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Safe Stay During Pandemic

Oct 23rd, 2020

I have stayed many times at other NYC hotels in the Library Collection, but at the time of this trip only the Library Hotel was open. It lived up to my expectations of excellent service and, most importantly, safety during the pandemic. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, comfortable, and scrupulously clean. Amenities such as breakfast and use of the guest lounge were understandably unavailable; accordingly, the resort fee was waived. It was great to be back in NYC and to stay at this lovely property. I highly recommend the Library Hotel and look forward to returning. Thank you for the warm welcome and peace of mind during this visit! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
