Lovely Hotel

Mar 8th, 2020

We had a suite overlooking the racecourse, beautiful and we didn't even get cold we were right at the finishing line there was also a very large screen so you could watch the race all from the comfort of an armchair. Food good, Spa good, and Bar good TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable stay, great customer service

Mar 8th, 2020

I stayed at this hotel and I was extremely empress with the consistent front desk customer service. My room had large windows which allowed me to see the horse races which were captivating. The breakfast was very good and the food choices were satisfactory. I also enjoyed high tea later in the afternoon and it was enjoyable. I can’t wait to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely stay with a race track view

Mar 7th, 2020

We came for an event taking place in the hotel and had a great stay - what an unexpected joy to have a view of the race track... with horse race action on it! The room was spacious and comfortable, good bed, decent cupboard space with enough hangers, and good tea and coffee facilities in the room (but would prefer full cream or half fat rather than skimmed milk.) The room service menu had good variety - and what we ordered arrived quickly and with everything needed on the tray! (We all know that with room service so often something is missing...) Breakfast was plentiful right up to when it closed at 11am on Sunday. We didn’t have time to even look at the spa but will definitely come back and look forward to it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Marriot Hotel Lingfield

Mar 4th, 2020

I enjoyed a weeks training course based at the hotel. The rooms were a nice size & were kept clean by the housekeeping team. Towel & toiletries changed regularly. The pool facilities very lovely & changing rooms were pleasant. The food was varied & of good quality. Darren Trueman who works in the Trackside restaurant was an asset to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble for him & he went over & above to ensure our dining experience was a good one. My only criticism of the hotel was the prices at the bar which were expensive & not consistant! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Woefully unloved

Mar 1st, 2020

It didn’t bode well when it took no less than 8 calls to get answer from hotel reception when we were delayed en route and wanted to politely inform the hotel that we were nevertheless still going to arrive and ask that they keep our room. On arrival the computer crashed and it took an age to check in. Our room when we finally got into it had been heavily used and partied in over time.Stained sticky carpet, creaking beds, 1 set of towels for 4 of us, cigarette burn in the net curtain and smeared and slightly splattered furniture. No working deadlock on the inside of the door, a sealed safe etc, etc. Nicely styled but used and abused. We tried to call reception on two occasions, and on the second one despite numerous calls to get the safe unlocked there was no answer. We were forced to take our passports and valuables with us which was annoying. Breakfast was had at sticky tables where teenage serving staff sauntered around ignoring all the crumbs under the tables and had to be sought out for hot drinks. Whilst waiting for the lift we saw maintenance people spraying air freshener onto doormats and into the air seemingly randomly, chatting and checking their phones. I don’t often write reviews, but feel compelled to take the time here. The only saving graces were the view from the bedroom window and the pool. Not at all what I expect from the Marriot Bonvoy brand. The whole place just seemed unloved and uncared for and to have been partying too hard. I often come to nearby East Grinstead and had been looking for somewhere for my whole family to stay each time. Sadly this won’t be it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
