Adorable!

Sweetest boutique! Front Desk Staff and Housekeeping were kind and attentive. We stayed in the original older section of the hotel (which we had requested) and it was charming. Large room with large bathroom, very comfortable beds and lots of lamps for ambiance. Good size pool for size of property. Would stay again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gone to the dogs

Jul 13th, 2019

Having loved this hotel in the past, I was looking forward to an anniversary weekend here. Ivon at the front desk was great, even upgrading us to a suite. Unfortunately, a barking dog was among the guests in the adjoining room. The night clerk at the front desk informed me there was no manager on site, and all he could do was ask the guests to "tell the dog not to bark." We enjoyed animal hair on the well worn furniture in our suite too. Additionally, breakfast was picked over and not replenished by 9 am, but by the looks of the crusty remnants, we didn't miss much. Other than a gruff general manager, all the staff here are friendly and kind. If you love your dog and must travel with it, this is probably a good choice. If you're looking for a nice, quiet getaway, this place has gone to the dogs. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hidden Gem

The Lodge on the Desert is absolutely delightful! It makes you feel as though you've escaped the city. From check-in, with Alex, to happy hour, and the most delightful, complimentary breakfast, our stay was wonderful. The only thing I would change was the need for a night light in the bathroom. Reminds me to pick one up at the Dollar Store for my travel bag. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Insecure feeling

Jul 9th, 2019

We stayed here for 7 nights. On the plus side, it is very pretty and Southwestern-ish, centrally located and reasonably priced. The room was spacious and the air conditioning was good in the July heat. On the minus side, the pool, while very pretty, was small and usually crowded - even until midnight. The lodge is not handicapped friendly, with lots of staircases and no elevators. Also, the staff seemed to have a remote, aloof attitude. On our final morning, a loud, obnoxious woman was yelling and cursing at breakfast. Her own family left her alone at the table so that we could all put up with it. She kept yelling and gesturing, but the 5 or so servers and hosts did nothing to calm her down. I finally had to say something and, of course, got the third finger for it. It's not my job to control unruly, out-of-control guests. The staff just stood around like cattle. There was no sense of security at all. It sounded like a herd of elephants was above us until midnight and then, right around 7 a.m. We notified the front desk and she said she would call "security." The thundering continued. She obviously did nothing. I saw no sign of security the entire time. This gave us a feeling of unease, like we may not be completely safe. I would probably stay at a mainline resort next time. Just to be on the safe side. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
