Great place for a getaway!
Sep 14th, 2020
My family visited MacArthur Place during Labor Day. With the COVID situation and fires we were hesitant to leave our home, but really needed a change of scenery. We couldn't have picked a better place - within driving distance of San Francisco. Everyone was super friendly - from the front desk staff, to the restaurant staff, everyone made you feel welcome, and in these times, safe. We were glad to see everyone, including guests, wearing masks and taking the proper social distancing precautions. The property was recently renovated, and the taste is impeccable. Very clean and modern. We're already planning a return trip in October to this wonderful place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
a week in the wine country
Jul 28th, 2020
Just spent a very relaxing week here. They definitely make you feel like a treasured guest from check in to check out there is very little to complain about. We found our room a bit cramped and were generously upgraded to a larger room with pretty courtyard views from the balcony. the property is very pretty, lots of greens and beautiful trees. the pool is well attended and grouped in a way to facilitate social distancing. everywhere you go on property there are handsanitizers that smell like lavender and masks are mandatory indoors at all times. We felt super safe and cared for. I lost my watch after using the jacuzzi and it was found by Carlos the groundskeeper and returned to me! Phew! what a relief! such honest and caring staff is hard to find! Michael the manager and Shana at front desk and Amaya the manager of the restaurant Layla and Porch coffee shop also deserve mention for going above and beyond in the service department! there were however a few snafus (hence the 4 star review). the AC in our room did not function properly and it could really get hot in the afternoon. i had set it to 66 but it never went lower than 72. Some days when it was super hot out it hovered at 75 and despite my many complaints this was never fixed. some of the lights were also having issues and our door keys kept having to be replaced bc. they would stop working almost daily. But, these are minor issues and I do recommend this hotel highly and would definitely come back here in the future! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We chose MacArthur for our anniversary stay and our first overnight trip from the city since lockdown and loved our stay. The question I got from most friends was did it feel safe-- I can say yes, 100%. The team at MacArthur went above and beyond to make our experience feel comfortable and safe-- as soon as we arrived, the check in space protected both guests and staff with plastic shields, masks, and even homemade hand sanitizer. Around the property felt very safe as well-- as soon as anyone left the pool chairs, any restaurant seating, or cafe seating, there was someone there to clean and wipe down the space. They even give you an option to text the concierge for anything you need-- whether that's not wanting the cleaning service (or just want towels) or want to put an order in at the restaurant. For the safety of guests and the staff, there is no room service, but you can order from the restaurant for pickup. Things are a bit slower than they might be under pre-COVID circumstances but that didn't affect our holiday happiness. The property is lovely and so peaceful-- the rooms and grounds have all been recently updated and feel like a true escape. Lastly, the restaurant is wonderful (order the lobster roll!) and even pool food (guac is SO good!) was delicious. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Weekend Getaway
Jul 20th, 2020
We visited the MacArthur Place over the weekend. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was very welcoming. The pool never got crowded at the times we were there and I was pleasantly surprised at how kid friendly it was. Lots of families and dogs on the property. We had a Garden Room with a patio and outdoor shower which was great for my 16 month old to explore and for my husband and I to relax on once our son went to sleep. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The weekend would have been perfect except for a few minor inconveniences: I called the morning of our arrival to ask if there would be a fridge in the room - my son drinks milk before bedtime and is a picky eater so we wanted to bring some snacks for him (also some wine for us). When the person I spoke to said there were none available we decided to bring a cooler and had to stop along the way to pick up ice. However, when we got to the hotel there was a fridge after all. When I booked the room the woman I spoke to suggested I lock in a table at Layla as they have limited outdoor seating. She was able to do it for me which was great, except when we arrived for our dinner we were told we missed our reservation. I’m not exactly sure what happened but the time I wanted/wrote down was different from what the restaurant had on file. At first it seemed like there was nothing they could do but after 10-15 minutes they were able to seat us. The food was great and I had an amazing Aperol Spritz. Last night I was looking at their Instagram and I saw a post that reminded me that we got a $50 resort credit. I was not told how to apply this credit when I booked and I looked at the receipt and didn’t see it on there so I called and they were able refund my card. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and look forward to our next visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
DO NOT FORGET ANY BELONGINGS
Apr 16th, 2020
WARNING DO NOT FORGET ANY BELONGINGS I stayed here for two days this winter. I left behind a few things - my fault! I forgot to check the closet. I called immediately, but was told it was too late and to call the next day. I insisted on leaving my name and number. Here is how many times I continued to contact the hotel: 1. Called again (earlier) and got front desk. She said she’d have another woman call me back. Nothing 2. I called back, this time asking for a day and time I could expect a return call, which was sometime that night. Nothing. 3. Called again, and was finally told they couldn’t find my lost belongings. Promised a return call. Nothing. 4. I drove to the hotel, as no one was returning my calls. A charming manager named Michael Joseph assuaged me, giving me his personal line to call because he somehow convinced me to double check my own suitcase at home. WHAT!?! I’m telling you exactly what I left and where I left it! 🤦♀️ 5. I called Mr. Joseph, left a voicemail - nothing. 6. Called Mr. Joseph on the main line, and he claimed to have no knowledge of my message. Assured me he would pass the issue along to claims. 7. Have not heard back. I give up. Who knows where my stuff is, but this place is ridiculous. Even the Marriott has a better, more organized and efficient system in place for “lost and found.” There’s an entire website devoted to forgotten items - this is nothing new... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
