Good Enough

Jul 9th, 2019

We booked the kid's suite, and my children liked having their own area. The hotel is clean, the beach is not usable, would probably be better if they cleaned up the seaweed. The pools are very nice, our room was clean, and the staff was friendly. The decor and rooms are outdated. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent hotel, bad beach

Jul 8th, 2019

We booked this hotel thru BlueGreen Vacations. Overall, it’s a decent hotel, rooms are very dated but the staff were very friendly and attentive (I would give a big thank you to everyone there, they were great). The beach, as other reviewers note, is not usable - a lot of seaweed on the beach and there was a distinct odor that made us concerned to step foot in the water. There are a lot of other beach options within 10-15 minutes that we spent our days at. They have 2 pools and a hot tub, all of which were great and never crowded. Their bar hut was decent, one person working there and drinks were pricier than other bars in the area but made strong. One thing I will say is the on site restaurant was a great experience (I’ll write a separate review on it) - I was honestly worried seeing all the reviews but the wife convinced me to try and I’m glad we did. Overall it was worth the price we paid to stay for 3 nights but I’d be hard pressed to choose this hotel over the literal 100s of others in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

While dated very nice views

Jul 8th, 2019

Stayed here while attending a conference. Staff was helpful and was able to get a room on the water and while the views were very nice the room was dated. Ate at the on site restaurant and was not impressed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Avoid the budget rooms! Courtyard rooms are better value and experience.

Jul 2nd, 2019

Booked a Budget no-view double room using 3rd-party site based on room photos and TripAdvisor’s overall rating but terribly disappointed. Not suitable for solo women travelers of a certain age. I only needed a safe, clean place to sleep while visiting local friends. The awful budget double room #413 was a shabby cramped ground level at the far side of the property facing the highway with overwhelming odor of mold and Clorox and heavily stained drapes. Immediately moved to the “upgrade” that I declined at check in, Townhouse #430, sleeps 6 — very dated, shabby 2-level but cleaner than 413. Bad layout: narrow, dirty spiral staircase unsafe for small kids and older folks leads to 2nd level bedroom with 2 dbl beds and bathroom, or you could go outside and walk to the end of the building, climb stairs, and enter from 2nd level. Old-old carpet, old kitchenette on ground floor, broken glass in filthy window above kitchen sink, lethargic AC upstairs, broken phone jack on 2nd level, and a long walk through a parking lot to the restaurant and pools. Both phones sticky with grime, dresser drawers sandy and gritty. Closet downstairs, beds, bathroom, and dresser are upstairs but impossible to carry luggage up that spiral staircase. Obviously at one time 2 separate rooms. Upstairs walkway with dingy plastic patio set overlooks parking lot, highway traffic close by, did not feel secure. Room service: what I ordered was not what I got and it was too late to send it back — I tried but no one answered the phone at 9:30 p.m — dining room supposedly closes at 10 p.m. Loud music from event at poolside bar but on the + side, very comfy clean bed. Bathroom worn but clean and the shower and double sink fixtures worked. Lower level sitting area furniture was newer and seemed clean, pullout couch. But the experience was so dismal after 2 nights I complained and was offered a King room #218 for a bit extra per night with elevator access, view of pool, Tampa Bay, and inner courtyard, with private balcony. This room was everything you would expect from a “resort.” Clean, secure, and comfortable, a dead roach or two but that’s Florida. Carpet a bit damp from AC unit condensation. The pools were clean and pleasant on the weekday afternoons and no noise. Grateful to Mgt for responding to my complaint appropriately. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tiny room, lies, and high price

Jul 1st, 2019

We were told on the phone that the room we were booking had a water view. When we got there, we were told: "Sorry you misunderstood... those rooms are much more expensive and we are all booked so you can't switch". Not sure how being assured that our room had a water view was misunderstood, but ok. We just spent $160 for a view of the parking lot. Then, the entire room was 15 feet by 16 feet. With two (hard as a rock) double beds, a dresser, a bedside table, and a table with two chairs that were squeezed into such a tiny space they wouldn't even wedge into the sides of the table. We had to basically sit squished between the table and the bed. I stood in the bathroom and touched each wall, flat-palmed, with my elbows bent. The air conditioning unit was broken, and the room was like a meat locker. I turned the temp up to 97 degrees to try to get it to turn off and it would not. We had to just turn the unit completely off to not freeze to death overnight. The sink started screaming in the middle of the night. I turned the water on and off to try to release the pressure and all it did was change the pitch of the screaming. Finally, I flushed the toilet, which made it stop. It was dirty, dingy, and the final straw for me (as if they needed one) was seeing a dirty wheelbarrow pushed across the parking lot and parked in a space with "clean" towels and sheets for the rooms. I will NEVER darken their doorstep again, and would recommend everyone avoid this pit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
