Anniversary night away

Aug 8th, 2020

The hotel itself looked very clean. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The Lady on reception was extremely lovely and professional. We were given an upgrade to a suite for our wedding anniversary which was so fantastic. We had balloons, banner and wine, plus a card wishing us happy anniversary. This was fantastic an amazing touch. The room was mostly clean however was dusty in places, the door, the table and lamps. During the current situation I would have expected all rooms to be deap cleaned. Overall we had a fabulous stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just about ok...

Aug 7th, 2020

I visited last weekend to celebrate my Birthday. Having stayed alot at the Marriott before and lock down easing it made an easy decision to choose to stay there.. Sadly upon arrival I was greeted by all the building works so close to the hotel itself.. I was very suprised by their proximity to the hotel but it being Sunday thought not much of it.. I am greeted by staff who inform that not only is the bar and restaurant closed, no prior warning even though I had pre booked through the members app.. also there is renovation going on inside the hotel... which unfortunately caused us lots of disturbance on Monday morning.. Upon checking in and after the mix up and embarrassment around pre - payment and breakfast I went up to the room which I immediately didnt feel was a 'Superior Room' yes a tad bigger than the average room due to being L shaped but we were now over looked by 3 separate buildings and the room itself was in ok condition... the bathroom was well worn.. bath silicon and tiles were mainly black and the room had alot of cobwebs... I wish I had booked a different room.. I was overall disappointed but didnt want it to further spoil my stay... Monday morning arrived after lots of tossing and turning on very uncomfortable pillows... 7.30am and the builders outside made their presence felt.. esp their loud vehicles.. up we get for breakfast.. the staff working were excellent and they did everything they could given the current climate.. constantly cleaning and clearing..sad that it wasn't what I was used to... definitely did stay as long as we usually would... We return to the room with 3 hours to spare before checkout hoping to relax but the t.v doesn't work properly.. flickering off and on with a menu on an illegiable language.. then the internal builders begin.. it sounds like they are going to come through the ceiling.. so we give up.. pack and check out... Sadly it was not what I expected due to lack of communication from the hotel.. I did not get a relaxing stay away from home... Have been put off visiting again sadly.. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just OK

Jul 26th, 2020

Stayed Saturday night - wouldn’t like to think was staying during the week with all the building work happening. No room in car park but NCP nearby was fine. Breakfast delivered in a bag was just ok. High level of cleanliness in room - the main problem being the birthday party in the next room with what sounded like a disco until at least 4am - would be better if such rooms and guests were on a different floor to that occupied by families. Good, but .......

Jul 21st, 2020

We've stayed here many times across the years, but more recently stayed somewhere more central. However after lock down relaxed and the hotels were open again we decided to have a night in Manchester. We got a decent deal at the Marriott and it helped seal our decision to stay here. The staff and hotel are doing their level best under constrained circumstances and it was nice to see. HOWEVER ..... the day before we were due to stay we were informed of construction work going on outside the hotel. I really think we should have been informed of this long before we were due to arrive. Our hope was that because it was a Friday evening there would be no workmen on Saturday. We all know how hard it is to get a workman on a Saturday right??? Especially turning up on time or even early! Well this hardy lot rubbished that theory. 7.40 on Saturday morning the digger outside our window started up. I won't repeat here what was said . I understand and even accept that building work is going on all over, especially in Manchester. But as I have said, it really should be made clear on booking. We went away for a chilled time and a much needed lie in. Sadly this wasn't what we got. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Ongoing Work

Jul 18th, 2020

Stayed for one night. Beware there is Massive building work going on around the hotel, some of the roads are closed but you still have access to the hotel car park. (Minimal parking). I was hoping for a lie in (Saturday morning) however 7.45 am the building work started, diggers, drills etc. The hotel should notify you of this prior to booking. Restaurants are closed in the hotel, a continental breakfast of orange juice, cornflakes, an orange, a bottle of orange juice and a cake a delivered to your room in a bag. The reception staff are doing there best in these difficult times. If the building work, and room renovations were finished I would stay here again. But I feel it will be at least a couple of years until the outside building work is finished, if you would like a relaxing quiet stay, avoid. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
