Fantastic trip starting in Munich with a stay at the Mandarin Oriental, ideally located around the corner from Hofbrauhaus and within walking distance of the glockenspiel, shopping, Biergartens, and the train station. The view from our 7th floor room overlooked the whole city and the tile rooftops. The hotel even included a rooftop bar and was a welcome ending to long days spent walking around the city. We definitely recommend hiring a driver for a quick city tour, or using the double decker bus to see other places not accessible by foot. We visited the BMW museum, the Oktoberfest site (huge!), the Nymphenburg summer palace, and several local brew houses. We recommend the outdoor beer garden Biergarten Vikualienmarkt, near the glockenspiel, Paulaner Bräuhaus, Wirtshaus, Augustiner Brau Munchen, and Schneider Weisse, in addition to the immensely popular Hofbrauhaus. Sit next to anyone and meet someone from another country. Easy train connection to Frankfurt and plenty of day trips available via rental car or Tour bus. We chose an all day tour to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Palace with a short stop at Oberammergau. Definitely recommend this! Separate post about the tour. It is also easy to rent a car to have more wandering time at Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Harburg castle. Separate post about this day trip as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Warm welcome at check in. Our room was spacious and light, very comfortable. Great location to shopping, restaurants and sights! Could not have asked for better service - very attentive to our needs. Definitely will return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Strongly recommend stay at this hotel. Rooms, service from reception to door fantastic. Every interaction with staff from breakfast to late night room service was professional and prompt. Staff took time for conversations and were only too willing to share knowledge of the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This is a great hotel in every respect. Best location within walking distance from major shopping and touristic areas. The staff were all very nice and I was addressed by name every single time I interacted with any of them, I really wondered how they managed that. Room a bit dated but super clean, the bed was just so comfortable I had trouble getting up in the morning. Breakfast was also excellent with everything you could wish for as was the lobby lounge for lunch and afternoon tea. It is definitely pricey at €700+ per night but well worth it. All in all quite a relaxing weekend, I was sad to leave and would come back again to Munich and to MO. Well done. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
There is magic during Christmas at the Mandarin Oriental Munich
Dec 31st, 2019
We requested but were not guaranteed connecting rooms as it was very important for us to be together as a family Christmas morning. Dominik Schmidbauer moved Heaven and Earth to put our rooms together. The room selection, Tower Suite with connecting room literally made my wife cry tears of joy. As the final over the top action, we were met with a fresh Christmas tree in our suite. Dominik is a credit to Mandarin Oriental Munich. I think he may end up as CEO of the Mandarin Oriental Organization someday. Thank you so much Dominik and Mandarin Oriental Munich!!! As to the rest of the MO Munich team what a group of joyous professionals who made our stay so joyous. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
