Luxury and gastronomy in a beautiful country setting

Apr 15th, 2019

The venerable Hovey Manor is a rare gem. The setting of this historical domain by the Massawippi lake is unique at any time of the year. The luxurious and state of the art amenities are all combined t o assure a most restful, peaceful stay (the bedding is of exceptional quality - I dare you to have a restless night there). But wait, the best is yet to come: the MEALS ARE TO DIE FOR! Homemade, locally grown or produced, everything you will eat there is a feast for the eyes and yours taste buds. Tip: try the homemade yogurt, I bet just a spoonful won't be enougheven if it's 14%! The Hovey is a must on a any epicurian's bucket list but what makes it so special is you feel like you are not just a guest but a friend. Yes, it's hard to leave... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Expensive but worth it

Apr 6th, 2019

Had a very short stay at very short notice but absolutely loved it, even though it was super expensive. We chose the Tree Tops suite, which was excellent. Everything is there to make your stay as good as possible - we loved having an open fireplace and using the hot tub late at night, with just a view of the trees and the stars, was unforgettable. This suite and the adjoining one are elevated a short, steep walk away from the main hotel - no need to be put off by the steps though as lifts in the hotels vehicles are offered. As expected the bed was super comfortable and we slept very well. There are two places to eat on site - the top quality restaurant and the more informal Tap Room. All in all a fantastic and memorable stay even though it was very much out of season. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful stay

Apr 6th, 2019

Very nice luxury room equipped with all we ever dreamed of. In no particular order: extra large bathroom with occitane products. Large confortable bed, gas fireplace, Nespresso machine, turn down service, good wifi, free parking. Excellent food at the Tap Room, attentive service everywhere. Unfortunately they had a mishap, where the restaurant kitchen was flooded by the a defective sprinkler head. So we had to step outside while the problem was identified and fixed. At checkout we were surprised to see that they gave us a full one night credit for the inconvenience. This is more than professional, a first! This is a 5 diamonds estate. Highly recommended. Wonderful night at Manoir Hovey

Apr 6th, 2019

My friends and I only stayed one night, but it was memorable. The room (a standard) was cosy and well furnished, with those extra touches that make a stay special (gas fireplace, fluffy bathrobes, lots of pillows, Nespresso, turn down service with chocolates, amenities by l'Occitane). The hotel itself was a grand rambling building with beautiful grounds looking over a lake. The hallways are lined in local art which can be purchased at reception. Staff were friendly and attentive. Dinner was a superb three course meal with amuse-bouches from the chef between each course, with a regional cuisine emphasis and an international wine list. Breakfast (hot dish service and a buffet) and was ample and satisfying. Although we were there in between seasons, and couldn't linger, the hotel literature mentioned skating, sleigh rides, skiing, and ice fishing in winter, and equivalent activities in the summer. Weekend away

Mar 25th, 2019

Great romantic spot! Had a lovely, quiet weekend away here while skiing at Mont Orford. Friendly and efficient staff at check in and wonderful staff in pub/dining room. We are spoiled by the restaurants in Montreal but the food here was fantastic and the staff were very well versed with wine recommendations. Honestly it is a perfect escape from the city and we would highly recommend it. Cannot wait to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
