Great stay!

Oct 17th, 2020

We are halfway through our 6 night stay here and have had nothing short of a great time. I was pretty worried after reading the last several reviews, I’m so glad we kept our reservation. This place is pretty typical of a Keys motel, only a lot bigger. Not 5 star by any means, but we didn’t expect that, nor wanted to pay for that. We booked through booking.com and paid $98/ night for a marina view king. There was no resort fee. Sure, there is quite a bit of cosmetic work that could be done, but the AC was cold, shower water was hot with good pressure, and the bed was comfortable. We had no problem accessing the WiFi in our room. The pool is quite large for the Keys. Breakfast was more than adequate considering covid precautions. We came to Key Largo to dive with Rainbow Reef and this location was perfect. Some of their boats are a short walk down the marina wall. The rest are directly across the canal. We could hang our gear on the balcony railing to dry after our dives. We stayed in room 230, which was perfect for us, to a point...It is right next to Sharkey’s, so we sat out on our balcony and had a couple cocktails and listened to their live music. Had we not been exhausted from diving, it definitely would have bothered us as it was loud until after 2am. We only discovered this after going to bed at 9pm and waking up at 1:30am. So, I would definitely recommend getting a room closer to the lobby. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping will bring fresh towels and pick up trash if you call the front desk. And last, but not least, we fit an entire Mrs. Mac’s key lime pie in the freezer! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible and Discriminatory!

Sep 14th, 2020

This hotel is run down, the rooms are sooooo old that they look dirty. I tried staying for the weekend and had to cancel. I rented in Courtyard Marriott instead. What a disappointment when we got to our room. The kitchen cabinets where shipped and dirty and black in the area where the cabinet meets the floor. All furniture was very old and run down. The bathroom was straight from a horror film. Just writing this review brings me bad memories. Is really a shame, because it has a nice location and an amazing restaurant. But aside from that this place needs total renovation. The pool was dirty. The furniture in the pool was all over the place. Masks were thrown in the floor. The bathroom around the lobby was very dirty and oldddd looking. It was very bad. We are boaters and the main reason we rented was for the convenience of renting a boat slip and having our boat there. However, the dock master, Brian, came across as arrogant and racist. The way he spoke down to us and almost as if it bothered him we were there. Well, get used to it, because Florida is a melting pot, and accent or no accent, we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. And are families like ours that are moving the economy and feeding hotels like this one. Unfortunately, their loss. You won’t see my family or any of our boating friends using the hotel or marina ever again. Thank you, and I really hope people think twice about making their reservations there! What "Marina View??"

Sep 14th, 2020

Make sure you read the fine print...Thought we'd have WIFI and discovered that the only WIFI to be found in the whole resort is in the lobby. When we asked why we couldn't check our e-mail they gave us the old "since the hurricane" excuse even though we noticed it hasn't been up-dated for years. As for the rest of the hotel, when we checked in we noticed there was a large crack in one of the windows that they seemed to be well aware of. The bathtub was old, the shower head was nasty and there were jets that looked like a jacuzzi from the 70s and didn't work. Also, If you're looking for a very long walk for coffee in the morning, make sure to book room #410 and see how long it takes to get to the filthy elevator!! (leaks a lot when its raining) This place in in serious need of a make-over. Oh yes, make sure you know how to bag up your used towels and trash to then leave on the "shared" balcony for their convenience daily. Over priced for sure!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What a dump

Aug 20th, 2020

A family member booked 5 nights here for us aug 13th thru aug 18, 2020...checked into room 107 where half the electric outlets didn't work, deadbolt broken, tub was so old the finish was worn off which made it 2 tone, the sink wouldn't drain, the bed was so worn out you rolled to the middle no matter what side you layed on and the tile floor was so dirty the bottom of my feet were black within 5 minutes...next day got moved to room 106 where the beds were hard as a rock, bathtub extremely old with finish worn off of it, mismatched furniture and the bath towels are hard as sandpaper...the pool water is super hot...housekeeping cleaned the room next to us after a departure and was extremely loud for 1 hour, she had deadbolt in lock position so door wouldn't close all the way and every 5 minutes for half an hour she was in and out-of the room with the deadbolt slamming against door frame, heard her slamming the dishes into the cabinets and slamming the kitchen cabinet doors repeatedly...if this housekeeper was trained properly she surely wouldn't have been in and out of the room constantly and she surely would know not to slam items in the room....due to the beds that sucked we hadn't slept for 4 nights and were attempting to take a nap at 3pm of which never happened due to the loud rude housekeeper.....I have never ever been to such a dive and can't believe this place is open to guests, you couldn't pay me to stay here again...attached is a picture of the bottom of my foot to show just how filthy the floors are in these rooms TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
