Disappointed

I recently stayed in the Marriott Indianapolis North and found that in the name of Covid-19 protection the management has eliminated many of the amenities. The in room coffee service is no more. Being a Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium member typically comes with a breakfast perk in a lounge, or at the hotel restaurant. Marriott spells out that if this is not available or an alternative offer the guest should be provided $100 compensation. The hotel management says that due to Covid that have unilaterally suspended this benefit. The restaurant is closed in the morning for breakfast they say due to Covid, but in the afternoon the bar and restaurant are considered safe enough to be open. In talking to a manager I was told that the closed in the morning in order to reduce the amount of staff needed. There is not even a way to secure a cup of coffee or tea in the morning inside of the hotel. The hotel remains clean. There are numerous signs about social distancing. Example is that only two people are permitted in an elevator, but while on the elevator with my wife a safe member got on the elevator with us when the car stopped at an intermediate floor. The staff member was wearing a mask, but her nose was outside of the mask. Again a generally clean hotel, generally great staff, but management has removed the amenities that make a first class hotel special. Thus, the pluses are clean, great location and staff, on the negative side is the lack of the finishing touches that make a special place of accommodation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Friendly employees

The employees at the Marriott North were very personable and eager to help, the cleanliness of the hotel which is very important to us was very well done. Our room was comfortable and nice, but when we took our showers in the morning we had cold water. And there was an hour and a half difference on shower times. We did not like the sliding door to the bathroom. I was very disappointed they did not have it outside pool, but we enjoyed the sitting area that they had out by the lake. Overall I would say they are a 3* again very disappointed that we had to take cold showers. Will not stay there again too many nice hotels in the area, for the price we could have found something much nicer!!!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice hotel in a great location!

Very nice hotel with a great location close to shopping and restaurants both cheap and expensive. Stayed with my teenage son for two nights for a lacrosse tournament at nearby Grand Park. Had two minor issues which the staff made good on. Tip for the maintenance staff: check all the outlets in the rooms for charging phone chargers. Those contacts lose contact retention over time. Larger charger cords may charge fine, but you need to check with phone chargers. I could not charge my phone in my room except for the bathroom. I would stay here again based on the way the staff went out of the way to resolve my issues. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Still Like New

It has been a number of years since I have stayed at this hotel, so I was pleasantly pleased to see that it has kept up with the times and seemed like brand new with current amenities and hardcore COVID pandemic cleanliness. It is hard to judge a hotel that thrives on warm, friendly service during the current environment so this judgment is made taking into account what I would want with a "low touch" hotel. Marriott has done an excellent job harnessing technology here. I checked in using the ap; I received my room and electronic key on my iPhone; and checked out without ever having to engage a person. The outlets and electronics in the room were fully up to date including LED lighting. The bathroom was bright and still contained the amenities that it appears Marriott is trying to do away with. I received a message before arrival that any bathroom consumables needed would be brought to my room upon request, but most of them were already in our room. Only issues are related to the low numbers of travelers currently. It took a long time for hot water to reach our shower on the top floor with few other people using showers. The Concierge Lounge was closed as was the pool. And room pricing had yet to reflect the need to entice customers to return. But all in all given the current environment I have to give this hotel an over score of 5 out of 5. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My husband and I rented a house in Sarasota FL this winter. Our lease was up 3/16. We headed home by car and made it to this hotel on Tuesday March 17. Needless to say there was no St Pats celebration. The world had shut down. The staff was expecting us. The hotel was pretty much empty. The hotel was immaculately clean. The staff welcoming and concerned for our well being. The restaurants were closed but food was available in to go bags. We could not have been more comfortable in a really uncomfortable situation. Thank you Marriott. And we can’t thank the staff at Indianapolis North enough. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
