2 star interior with a 4 star exterior

I stayed here during a convention I was attending. While the convention was top notch, the amenities fell quite short. Short enough that I won't be staying here again. First, there is no microwaves in the rooms. presumably so you have to go down to the inhouse restaurant. I tried it and you get half the food at twice the price. One of our part ordered soup and cabbage rolls. for $19 total. she got on medium bowl with nothing else. no bread, no crackers, nothing. Same with the cabbage rolls. Just 3 cabbage rolls a little smaller than my fist. Both of these were not hot. the soup was warm and edible, but the cabbage rolls had to be sent back because they were cold. Another in the party got cold food too but didn't want to complain. I ordered a salad $9 and got a plate with lettuce, cheese, a few onions and salad dressing. At least it wasn't warm. Second, they got rid if their hot tub. where the hot tub was has been cemented over and patio furniture llaced on it. For such a nice looking hotel that charges double what motels charge, They don't even have two of the items most travelers want - that of a microwave and a hot tub. Thank you Marriot for missing the target on the remodel. you will save me money next year as I will stay at a different hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Get away mini vacation

While there, the hotel was under renovation. The dining room and bar were closed - so they’ tried to accommodate in the main entry “pit” by setting up 6’ folding tables with black table cloths. They did offer a breakfast buffet and dinner there. They did offer room service too. Parking was ample. The hotel has a convenient location near restaurants and a shopping mall. Even with the inconvenience of the construction - we enjoyed our stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Currently under construction so bear with them.

It may be nice when done, but currently it is a bit rough. The housekeeping could be improved since we found old trash under the wet bar sink. The bathroom is small and the new sink design prone to getting the counter all wet. Marriott may be taking a step back with this redesign. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Convention Area-Not So Great Room

Came to the hotel for a conference and an overnight stay. The conference rooms were very spacious and accommodated our groups well, but the rooms themselves were not as impressive. The bathrooms were nice, but the overall room lacked comfort and functionality, especially with the pull out couch. It seemed to be made of parchment paper. Hopefully after renovations are complete, this hotel can reach its potential, as it has lots. As for now, the rooms were not anything special. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Just don’t stay here, dirty, poor customer service.

I take reviews seriously and really try and give people the benefit if the doubt. I really should give this place 1 star, but I think I am being generous with 2. We are lifetime Marriott owners/member and 95% of the time stay at a Marriott. This was the worst hotel I have stayed at. This hotel 100% should have closed during renovations. Entire place is torn up, registration is in the coat closet if that says anything. It’s dirty, disorganized, and bizarre. Typically when there is something going on like construction, staff do everything to make your stay better, here it’s like the opposite. Pros: -great location -comfy beds -super nice big screen TV’s -availability of one bedroom units (great with kids) Cons: -dirty, the garbage cans everywhere were overflowing- tons of garbage in the planter on our floor, sure gross. -in our room paint splotches all over carpet and tile. -I called to request early check in and person on the phone once the found our reservation said “do you want to sleep here tonight?” Ummm yes, this is a hotel, right? -At check in, there was a convention, I couldn’t park close due to that and construction. I had a little one with me and was struggling to get my things inside, and employee commented, “that looks like a lot of stuff, that would be hard to bring in by yourself” what?!?!! Then get me some help! -in the room the bed was half made, no toilet paper, dirty glass on the bathroom counter. -pull out couch was awful-mattress was 40 years old, dirty and like sleeping on rocks, I felt bad my kid had to sleep on it. When we opened it up, behind the couch was piles of dust, Sheetrock, and other construction debris. -sheets for pull out bed were not in the room, I called down for 15 min, no one answered any line. I had to go downstairs to the front desk to ask for bedding, I said I needed it ASAP so my kids could go to bed, they responded with “we will try but can’t hurry” -first morning there alarm went off at 6am. What really got me rattled after all of this- I requested our room be cleaned by 12:30 so my son could come and nap, and told them he would be napping between 12:30-4. We got back at 12:30, room had been cleaned and we put my child to bed (with the do not disturb sign on the door) About 2:00 someone barges in our room (we think housekeeping?!) and my husband yells at them to leave and they looked stunned. They had no reason to be in our room at all, so we will just leave that there. Bottom line, a million better places to stay in Madison. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
