Small rooms, extra charges, valet didn’t move car.

May 13th, 2020

Rooms are extremely small, I was charged $46 for valet parking and my vehicle was not moved the whole night! It stayed parked in front of the hotel in where I first pulled up and unloaded my belongings. I was also charged more than what was agreed upon. The coffee bar in the hotel was closed as was the gym and all other guest services. When I called guest services they would not help one bit, terrible service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing short stay

I love this hotel. I will definitely be returning. The staff was very friendly. It was clean and the breakfast was incredible. They had several options for hot or cold choices. It was right on the River front making a nice beautiful walk at night. I recommend staying here if you can. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Questionable policy on environmental efforts

Mar 8th, 2020

I had the same experience at the LAX Marriott the other night. Room service food is great at both places, however, a few years ago they changed from typical room service table settings to "Fresh Bites: delivering in paper bags with recyclable plates, cutlery etc. I now have three bags filled with plastic plates, covers, cutlery and an abundance of packages of salt and pepper which I never used. Even one staff at the Portland hotel understands and agrees that this policy is not as environmentally friendly as their intentions. She said she has no power in her position to say much. They say all are recycled after use, but I don't see how that can be quantified if I asked to verify this. So while I am offered extra points to not have house keeping, and the shower gel bottles are replaced by refillable containers, this tremendous waste off-sets it. Washing traditional tableware cannot be that expensive. You could have a story about recycling dishwasher water for use for irrigation as a better way to send the message. What about the back office management to order, deliver and store thousands of pieces of recycled tableware in just ONE HOTEL? There is a cost in that. Since only 10% of all plastic is recycled, just saying we use recycled tableware and then we recycle the used recycled tableware really is a stretch in my opinion. I really don't understand the logic in what I am sure was a well intentioned effort. I wish that the top management at Marriott could review this and revisit a more sensible way to make a difference. Perfect

Left the Residence Inn nearby and from the reviews was not expecting much. Really liked our stay! Clean rooms; concierge lounge was very nice with great service and food items; rooms were small but with great amenities (usb and internet Tv) and staff were very accommodating and responsive. Beds were a huge improvement. We will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outdated rooms, bad service

Feb 22nd, 2020

Pictures are deceiving! Rooms are quite outdated, needs renovation, especially the bathrooms. Upon check out, i was charged for breakfast which I did not sign. After much questioning and receptionist giving me a doubtful look, she finally found out that another guests had signed his breakfast to my room. When I returned home to SF, I checked the updated bill that they had sent me, this time, they charge me for the parking!!!! How can they add on charges like that? I had to call and fight it! It's such a hassle! Do not recommend this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
