Exceptional stay at Marriott November 2020

This review is a little delayed as I thought I had already posted it when in fact, we were staying at this wonder hotel in September 2020 and returned on November 2020. Both stays wee the same, exceptional hotel, grounds, pool, food and room. My husband celebrated is birthday in November and my birthday was in September. Everyone made is so special. We stay at the Marriott PV at least once a year and try twice a year for the last 10+ years. General manager Fred Ruiz never disappoints. We miss Simon, but there is no lack of service. Special thanks to Fred, Adrianna, Warren and our wonderful house person Gladys. With the team that Fred is responsible for, every time is so special. Covid never played a role with the Marriott and we felt very safe as usual. Las Casitas’s food and service is the best and never had a bad meal. The pool is by far the best in PV. Highly recommend and we will be back in June or celebrate our anniversary as we do every year! Cannot wait to go home in PV! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beautiful Hotel and Excellent Service

This property is not only beautiful, but is also on a pristine stretch of beach which goes on for miles on both sides of the hotel. It is in a quiet and private part of Marina Vallarta which is a safe, clean, and affluent community. It is a 5-minute walk to the actual marina where you will find a lot of little shops, nail salons, boat rental companies, boats, and a few pubs/restaurants. I had booked this hotel prior to the new 72-hour Covid testing US entry requirement and was pretty nervous when the initial cost and availability of the test in PV seemed limited after researching the Internet. To our surprise, the hotel had two rooms setup for testing right on the ground floor. The test was $58 per person and results were available within 20 minutes. They offered it from 9am – 11am every day. They only had 12 test kits available / day at the time of this writing, so get there early (there was however no line when we got there right at 9am). Our test was administered by a nurse. You’ll need your passport to fill out the paperwork and she will give you a hardcopy to present when you check in at the airport. We stayed in a Jr. Suite which was a large 1-bedroom connected to a large living room complete with pull-out bed since we were travelling with little ones. There are 2 good size balconies with a view of the pool, ocean, and the entire property. My only regret was that we were given a room on the first floor (to the left of the elevators). This gave you an obstructed view of the property and a view of a roof with an air conditioner... After politely asking the front desk, we were moved to a Jr. Suite on the 3rd floor (to the right of the elevators), which was a significant difference. Thanks Bella and Alejandro! Tip: Don’t forget to ask for beddings for the pullout if you plan to use it. The hotel did a good job sanitizing everything! There were hand sanitizer stations everywhere. All the staff wore masks at all times. Most of the guest wore masks - except in the pool area, but the hotel was probably at 30-50% capacity so there was plenty of space for everyone. I never once rode the elevator with anyone else during the entire stay which was a bit strange (kind of felt like you had the place to yourself). The hotel has a large infinite pool with a connected hot tub, an island in the middle where you can lay on beds made out of stone and a swim up bar. Plenty of cabanas to choose from and rent for an inexpensive price for the entire day, and plenty more of the standard pool benches for free (so you don’t need to ‘save’ your spot first thing in the morning). The ocean was a little cold so the kids were in the pool the entire time. Tip: You can rent a Seadoo for 30 minutes from Pablo on the beach (cash only), and enjoyed sailing a Hobby Cat for an hour in the morning with Rafael (cash only) also on the beach. All the wait staff was excellent, friendly, fast, and catered to your every need – Gracias! There were spa ladies walking around asking if you wanted a ‘free’ massage, but we felt they were not intrusive and didn’t come back when you said no. The hotel also has a baby turtle ‘nursery/release program’, but it wasn’t in season, so make sure to ask in advance if this is something you little ones want to do. I agree with all the reviews that the food in all the restaurants was delicious (and inexpensive!). We had breakfast (a la cart) everyday, and what we paid for 4 was the same price for 1 in the US. There is a nice Japanese restaurant (Mikado) on the grounds that serve sushi and Teppanyaki (which the kids enjoyed). My favorites were the poolside Shrimp and Fish Tacos (deep fried)! The lobby bar had good ceviche platers and a mighty strong Margarita. Tip: Use your Welcome drink ticket here. Don’t forget to make reservations if you plan to eat dinner by the beach at Las Casitas. There is an ATM at the hotel where you can get USD and Pesos. You can use your credit card everywhere you go, but you WILL need Pesos for tips (be generous please). There is also a coffee shop on the ground floor that served good coffee. Tip: Buy your coffee here before your morning walk on the beach or before having breakfast at the restaurant. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa and definitely recommend staying here. We will be back! Other tips: 1. Arrange airport travel to and from the hotel BEFORE you arrive. The hotel is approximately 10 minutes away. 2. Don’t stop for ANYONE when you arrive at the airport! Head straight out after getting your luggage. 3. Exchange a few pesos BEFORE you arrive so you can have money for tips – e.g. Bell Hop. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
We Returned to the Marriott for our 18th Annual February Vacation.

There were twelve members of our family who made the annual trip to our favorite resort for ten nights. Arrival at the airport was a breeze as immigration was empty when we deplaned. After the five minute cab ride from the airport, we were greeted by our friends, the bellmen. They had a wealth of information about Covid-19 tests, protocols and safety guidelines. We had to get our temperatures taken when we arrived. Special thanks to Hugo, Noe, Santiago, Guillermo, Ramiro, Gustavo, Ramon and Adrian. They were all great! Checking in was easy in spite of the size of our group. Alexis, Nataly, Janet, and Bella were very helpful and patient. Simon, the chief concierge had left the Marriott and he set us up with Viviana. I was a little nervous having a new concierge after all the years with Simon. But Viviana was awesome! She reserved our usual rooms and suites. We had 4 suites and two connecting guest rooms. We had Gladys service our suites again this year. She kept our rooms immaculate. Her towel sculptures were a daily treat. We opted for the all inclusive package this year. We were able to eat and drink at all three onsite restaurants, at the pool, and 24 hour room service was also included. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the resort was operating at 25 or 30% of capacity so it was quieter. There were plenty of seats at the pool every day. The weather was mostly sunny but cooler than usual until the last couple of days. The heated pool was warm and crystal clear. Alexis and Sylvester who work at the pool hut were helpful with towels and inflating the grandkid’s pool floats. We had breakfast every morning. Andrea made us omelettes to order. Special thanks to Roberto, Juan, Ed, Rayna, Oscar, Manuel and Pedro for their taking such good care of us. Hector at Champions was able to coordinate our big dinner orders. He was very helpful. Everyone met at the pool for lunch every day. The burgers, chicken tenders, shrimp ceviche, and tacos were fantastic. Thank you to Raul, Victor, Carlos, Antonio and Ernesto for their great service. The grandkids had daily ice creams at the Deli after lunch. Arturo the bartender and Cinthia the waitress made the Tequila Bar a nightly visit. It was a fantastic vacation! The bellmen drove us to the airport to get our Covid-19 tests two days before we departed. We all tested negative. The cost for the antigen test was $25. The cost for the PCR test was $75.00. This was a discount for international travelers. Antigen tests are available at the resort for $40.00. There is an extra step as you check in at the airport. You must show your negative test results at a table prior to going to the counter for checking in. You should arrive earlier than usual. The lines were substantial. I am so glad we decided to go in spite of the pandemic. All stores in Puerto Vallarta required masks, temperature checks, and shoe sanitizing as you entered. We will be back in February 2022. Wonderful repeat visit with friends and family

We’ve stayed at the Marriott in PV the last 2 years. We were so impressed with our stay, that we invited a small group of family and friends to join us in our pre-wedding celebration this January. The location is great: 5 min to the airport and walking distance to the marina. We had an amazing stay at the Marriott. The food was great. Champions was only open on the weekends, however. There were also restricted options for breakfast during the week. However, we took advantage of room service, which was excellent and fast! There was a special for all-inclusive, which was a great deal and included room service. Victor at the pool was our server for the week, and he made our stay extra special. He remembered our names and room numbers! He also remembered our drinks and was so prompt if we needed anything. The pool area was empty most days. We were impressed with the Health precautions. I only wish there was an option for on-site Covid testing like other hotels in the area. However, the hotel did offer one way transportation to the hospital for testing. The staff was very accommodating. We received a wonderful room upgrade to a Junior then Democrat Suite bc of Platinum status. Sariah and Janet at the front desk were so nice and checked in during our visit. Thank you Marriott! We will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Fiance's Birthday Trip

We had such an amazing time celebrating my finance's birthday we are actually going back in February! It was our first time and they made us feel right at home. Ernesto was very helpful with anything that we needed. We asked him and 101 questions and he answered every question with a smile. Omar is the man at the swim up bar! He was able to multitask with all the guest that inundated with the drink and food request. Victor was amazing at the restaurant outside right by the pool. We went every day and remember our drinks and what we liked to eat. I truly felt like I was at home. This has become a yearly trip for us! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
