Best Vacation spot in Carribean

Jul 18th, 2019

The Marriott Frenchman’s Cove went out their way to make sure are room selections were good. Resort has all the amenities needed for a family trip. Pool and ocean all great. All the activities were great. The resort is centrally located so it easy to get to anything. This is our 3rd visit and we brought the kids and they loved it. Their is only one restaurant on resort and you will need a car, much smarter than paying for taxi’s. Construction at nearby Marriott hotel no issue. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful view; but sand flea problem

Jul 13th, 2019

Went there in beginning of June 2019 as family of four with two teenagers. I kept reading about all the elevators you have to take to get to the beach and was concerned; in reality no big deal. We were in the furthest back row of buildings on the third floor, so we had the maximum number of elevators one has to take. It really only took 6-7 minutes on the slowest days to get from our door to the pool. It has taken much longer than this in most hotels. The elevators are fast, you don't have many floors to travel and the walk between elevators is about 50 feet. Beach and pool are right at bottom of last elevator. Why this place is great: 1. The view from every room is perfect. All rooms face the ocean and have balconies as well as a giant picture window in the living room area. 2. The staff plans lots of fun activities, especially for adults 3. Water is clear and warm 4. Rooms are very new and spacious 5. Onsite kiosk to help plan excursions is terrific and decently priced with a good assortment 6. Fun activities such as pool, ping pong, foosball all over property. Lots of choices, lots of locations, all in good condition 7. Property is big enough to have lots of fun stuff, but not to big that it's a pain to walk around Not so good parts: 1. You are a captive audience for one on-site pool bar/restaurant that has OK food and lame drinks with high prices. If the hotel next door ever opens again, that should really help with giving more choices. Havensight, which is about three miles away, has many good dining choices with decent prices. 2. Serious sand flea problem. My entire family (even those who seem to never get bit) had bites all over. You could see bites all over other guests. They sell bug spray in the on-site store, but it doesn't do much good and who wants to wear bug spray all day. 3. Turning right into the property (They drive on left-hand side) is a death-defying act due to the blind curve it is on. What the property could do to improve: 1. Spray, rake sand, do something to get rid of sand fleas by pool and on beach. I've been to tons of island properties, and they all seem to have ways to deal with this situation 2. Have a complimentary shuttle to nearby Havensight and town. Since there's no way to walk (curvy streets with fast drivers and no sidewalks) and taxis are very expensive (They charge per person), it would be nice to have that option run a few times a day. 3. Put up a blind-corner mirror or reconfigure property entrance so it is not so dangerous to turn right into property. 4. The beach is small (which is OK; it's a bay), but a pain to enter the water in only one tiny area because of reef restoration. Can't the reef be pushed out a little further to where one can not stand (it's not that deep of a reef) so that kids can play in the water's entrance? I'd be very worried to have small kids on the beach because they would want to dip their toes in and can't without getting cut up. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful property with a lot of amenities!

Jul 13th, 2019

We stayed here for 6 nights over the 4th of July in the Jost Van Dyke building on the first floor. Our unit was amazing — spacious, kitchen, washer, dryer, balcony with an ocean view, and super clean. There are a lot of fun activities every single day and an activity center for kids. The pool is great and overlooks the beach/ocean — our kids loved the slide and probably went down it 75,000 times. The fitness center is small but offers a number of machines and free weights - it was perfect for our needs. The beach is also small but very clean and the water is spectacular — slightly rocky to get in but there is a small sandy area for walking safely into the water. There is a water taxi that comes every 30 mins to take people in and out of Charlotte Amelie and a catamaran that docks right on the pier for snorkeling excursions. My only complaint is that there is only one restaurant — they do try and switch things up a bit but I truly wish there had been another option. Definitely a plus to rent a car when staying on St. Thomas to be able to explore other beaches, restaurants and take the ferry over to St. John for the day — you will not be sorry. Enjoy! Great Views, Crystal Clear Water, Very relaxing

Jul 5th, 2019

Had a fabulous time here with my wife and 7 year old granddaughter. While we have owned with Marriott for over 20 years this is our first time to St. Thomas. We stayed in the Tortola buliding on the 2nd floor and had a great view of the cove and the pool area. The facilities are definitely up to the Marriott standards and there were plenty of activities for our granddaughter as well as for adults. For me the best part of the vacation was the crystal clear waters in the cove and the coral reef that is almost directly below the building where we stayed. Plenty of sea life to observe and allowed me to teach my granddaughter how to snorkel for the first time. Absolutely a perfect place to learn snorkeling. Our granddaughter made fast friends with other children her age and had a great time at the poolslide. Chris operated the water taxi which we took to Charlotte Amalie on a Thursday and he was absolutely great, with all kinds of knowledge about the Island. Took the full day trip on the catamaran called the VI CAT. Took us to Turtle Cove and to a beach on water island. A trip that I would highly recommend. We had been advised that there would be construction noise since the Marriott hotel next door is being rebuilt due to damage from Hurricane's Irma and Maria, but honestly we did not hear much noise from the construction. As others have mentioned, this resort is relatively isolated, particularly since the Hotel and the beaches near the hotel are not open, but I don't think that really put a damper on our activities since we tend to cook or BBQ in the villa for meals and access to shopping via the water taxi was easy and enjoyable. Overall I would come back in a heartbeat. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
