A disappointing Marriott (it was the off season)

Mar 20th, 2020

We've been Marriott owners for two decades; this was one of the most disappointing vacation club resorts we've stayed in. There were some things right (clean), but a long list of what needs to be better to be a Marriott: Definitely not up to normal level of detail we are used to from Marriott. - no book outlining normal info (like we always get at our home Marriott in Williamsburg, VA). No info on what/where to recycle, where's the trash go, housekeeping if you're staying longer than a week (we stayed 20-31 Jan); front desk should have told us about housekeeping rather than having housekeeping show up unexpectedly (and not speaking english). - mattress cover not fitting; the bed was King, the cover was Queen - very cold above garage, our feet were freezing all week (ok, it was Jan, but still, some insulation under carpet is needed) - drawers are not in good shape (hit each other, didn't fit) - appliances (cheap, noisy, oven bottom drawer fell out - counter grout missing - couch broken down (or maybe broken). Had to stuff pillows under the cushions so we could sit without sliding off) - wood rot on door frame in master bath (toilet/shower room) Main room footstool caster broken/uneven Coffeemaker issues; asked for a Keurig, maintenance guy brought it up hanging by the handle, dragging the power cord on the ground. Was missing a base; we had to stick something under it to even it up. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Liked it

We were here at the beginning of the coronavirus escapade. So, we pretty much stayed to ourselves. We played golf once at Shipyard and enjoyed that. The room was clean, up-to-date, sizable and we were pleased with it. Parking was convenient either under the building or outside next to the building..Our only complaint was that they used leaf blower’s every day and this was spring. That was annoying. But, we would come here again because most days we would be out and about and not hear these things. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

So so MVC

This is our third stay here and maybe our last. The concierge has an attitude if you don’t sign up for one of their rubber hose and water boarding buy more tours. The food at the poolside grills is no bueno. The chicken is mushy reconstituted mess. I had a hamburger bowl which featured a stone cold burger and freaking bbq sauce for a dressing. Really? Next year it’s back to Barony Beach MVC. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gorgeous VIEWS! Lots of room! Great spot!

Feb 25th, 2020

We spent last week at this lovely Resort. Although our weather was less than perfect....the view of the Atlantic Ocean from our room was amazing!!! We arrived in the night so it was a wonderful way to wake up and pull back the binds to the ocean!!! Located on a terrific beach for walking or bicycle riding. The hotel has an amazing amount of bikes for rent. They also have daily activities for all ages. We saw allot of Grandparents with Grandkids enjoying the hot tub, beach, pool tables and ping pong. Lots of parking on site and we were always able to find a spot no matter what time. It’s a very large resort but with many layers so you don’t feel crowded. Our suite was HUGE! Seriously....the beds were very comfy and the bedding was nice. The decor was tasteful and welcoming. Such a spacious place! Large kitchen filled with all the things you need and more. Fully equipped! Lots of space to hang out. Large kitchen island and big dining room table. Perfect for families. I liked the idea that the first bedroom when you enter is where the kids would sleep, and have their own bathroom....and then you walk thru the kitchen, then living area and the master suite is tucked away in the corner. Perfect for families with teens. Each room had a large tv inside. Also a large tv was in the living room. We loved the large jacuzzi tub in our room and after a cold walk on the beach, it was perfect. The Wi-Fi worked well with no issues. Cleaning service was great too. The suite was really clean. I did feel that the bathroom could use a refresh with the decor but it was all well maintained and clean. One of the biggest rooms with definitely the BEST views we have ever had. Noise was not an issue ever...even though they told us that the resort was booked up 90% of its capacity. We would definitely recommend staying here and would book again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay!

Feb 24th, 2020

Nice large suite with everything you could want in a suite. Master bedroom with a Jacuzzi Tub and a separate bathroom, big kitchen, nice living room with dining table, washer & dryer, and balcony with a full table and chairs. Grounds has all kinds of hot tubs, pools, and a pretty solid gym. I’m only giving it 4 stars as it is starting to show its age. I am told though a remodel is already scheduled. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
