Perfect Resort for Families — Staff makes the Difference
Feb 29th, 2020
The resort has beautiful grounds and extremely friendly and helpful staff. It is located on a swimmable beach in Poipu with close access to shopping, golf etc. We found the scale to be more in keeping with the location than the nearby Hyatt which we have stayed at previously— the staff is also less corporate and seemed generally happier to be there. There are a large number of free (or nominal fee) daily activities including Bamboo pole fishing which our kids loved — the staff for this event was really above and beyond warm and welcoming. One small note that speaks a about the resort and the people who work there. We mistakenly left $260 in cash on the safe in our room. The staff immediately moved into action when we called after our plane landed, found the money and seamlessly credited to our bill which had already been run. The honesty and speed with which they handled this left a real impression on us and was totally consistent with the personal, friendly and high level of service we had all week. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Marriott’s waiohai remains a very nice, relaxed but complete resort experience on a beautiful beach in Poipu. Nice, well equipped functional units have recently been updated. They are comfortable and have everything you need. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously cared for. Staff is welcoming, thoughtful and cheerful. The beach is spectacular and not very crowded. Hale 2 still a good choice
Feb 23rd, 2020
We have an every other year ocean view timeshare. We normally are in Hale 1 or 8 but our 3rd choice is Hale 2. This year we were assigned Hale 2 and we really liked the location. The resort is located on the best winter beach on the island. Often, our beach is the only one with sunshine and the ability to snorkel. Snorkel is best along the right side of the resort. Turtles and lots of fish. Great area for watching surfers too. If renting, I suggest an oceanview (or an Inside garden view). Worth the extra cost. Will be back in 2022. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Ocean View Room
Feb 15th, 2020
We booked an ocean view 2 bedroom 2 bath villa for top dollar and we got a view of the parking lot with a sliver of the ocean. All the rooms that you can crane your neck to see the ocean are considered ocean view. If in fact you want to stay at this resort (which I would not recommend) I would pay less for a garden view room which is much prettier than what we got for an ocean view. If you book I would definitely call in advance to make sure your ocean view room is not of the parking lot!! Very very disappointing! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Marriott's Aloha Impresses!
Feb 13th, 2020
What a place! We were eager to try it out, after staying at the other Marriott properties on Kaua'i. Love Poipu, as it usually sunny. The little beach out front is wonderful! We saw whales from shore. There are not as many ocean-front units, as the property is narrow at the oceanside and extends far back toward the road, but the interior is simply gorgeous, with waterfalls, tropical plants, and all sorts of interesting features. The property is well-stocked with lawn-games, ping-pong, BBQ's, and other things to do. We liked the bar, the hot-tubs, and the area by the beach with lounge chairs. Bathrooms are clean & easy to access. Some of us did yoga and aqua-fitness classes, which were very good - for all ability levels. The 2-bedroom unit we had (after moving from the first one, which had an undesirable view of the parking lot - with the ocean far beyond) was lovely, comfortable, and well-stocked. Both bedrooms faced the lovely center garden. Two noise-related drawbacks: the nice guy who cleans the BBQ does so at 6am daily; the family on first floor across the pond who left all their stuff strewn everywhere & let their kids scream, shout, and cry incessantly OUTSIDE for the entire complex to hear. A third would be the Kaua'i roosters, but ya just have to consider them a quaint feature! The staff was VERY attentive & kept checking in to make sure we were having a great time. Location to all the restaurants & shopping in Poipu is good. Marriott does it right! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
