Too many issues!

Jun 23rd, 2020

Check in was terrible! Had a party of 3 couples around 3:00 PM and 3 other people checking in around 5:00 PM. Was told some story about a different company takes care of the beds and they aren't responsible for what size beds we were given. The shower in our room didn't work....the water was too hot! Called and waited for someone to come and fix it but they didn't show up. There wasn't enough chairs around the pool or the beach area. It seems the people from the other area of the resort could come over and use our pool, etc but we couldn't go over to that side. Thinking this should be addressed when people are asking why there aren't enough chairs!!! We had been at this resort for 7 days and didn't have any problems until the 8th day! We stayed 10 days! The food was not very good especially the specialty restaurants. The steak place was okay. We will not be going back to this resort and will tell anyone that asks to NOT GO there! Second Time Here.

Apr 5th, 2020

Me an 2 of my friends came here last year and had a blast. Everything was great. This year we returned to see many of the staff we met had left. We asked around an they told us there was a new motel in town an they usually take the workers by enticing them. The other reason is there is new management. And we could tell in the next few days. When we got there we needed 2 beds but they did not have any. We stayed in a room with a king bed. Amieka from the front desk was very sweet an took care of all of our needs an fixed it the next day. Dino was the man coming daily to refill the fridge. We requested extra water an diet soda he was happy to take care of it daily. If you venture to the pool find Kemar he will get you a fresh coconut with water in it. What a nice man an attitude he has. We had gotten sick for a few days and our housekeeper Gina was amazing to us. She really acted like a mother an came to see us daily. She was helping us get certain items we needed to feel better. We couldn't ask for a better person. She really cares about the customers an it shows. We enjoy all of the restaurants here. The market place is so so. Many options daily. We thought O'Grille was horrible. The fries are not worth eating an the burgers are dry. We tried it twice each time the orders where not correct. Room service food is okay an be prepared to wait a long long long time. If they forget something you'll be waiting even longer for them to come back. This needs major improvement. At the bar a few times they ran out of liquor an diet coke. That was crazy to us!!! We had a chance to meet Mark he is in charge of food an beverage. We shared our concerns an comments with him an he is happy to receive them, so if you need to voice anything ask for him. He was very pleasant an is trying to get things in order. The gym is a plus an very clean. We love the view of the ocean when you wake up an look outside. Had the ocean view room. The place is clean an very pretty, the staff is very nice. Don't forget to tip these workers. We tipped everyone. If you need anything voice it while you are there an not complain in a review when you get home. We never had an issue that they didn't address an fix. The entertainment they offer is super great!! Hopefully you enjoy the place. We will be returning in 2021 for a 3rd time. Thank you Melia Braco TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice place but Issues

Mar 30th, 2020

Overall staff very nice and friendly but this is not in same league as let's say a Ritz Carlton. Staff polite but very lax or unresponsive in addressing room issues. Place was probably only half full because of cancellations from virus and you'd think they would have upgraded us but did not. Also had no TV for three days (we were only there for 4 days) despite 3 requests to fix. Shower flooded bathroom floor due to faucet malfunctions, could seldom get wifi signal for iPhone. Market Place restaurant good for breakfast, other than that very mediocre. But staff in general very nice. It clearly has a management problem. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Explore other properties before settling

Stayed in the Level side of property. Poor customer service. Our child had to hear an employee use profanity. Chef tried to pass mayonnaise and mustard off as hollandaise sauce. Had to wait for coffee service while staff finished their champagne. No child/teen evening entertainment. Waited over an hour for lunch service one day - went to see why there was a delay and found 9 employees standing around talking and the chef hadn’t even started our order. Public restrooms were filthy and smelled. Room service called multiple times in the middle of the night to see if we needed anything waking my family (phone issue). We stay at 5-star properties all around the globe - unclear how this property is rated as a 5 star. Bartenders need quick reference guides or should ask the customer how to make drinks rather than just “winging” it. Waited nearly 2 hours one evening for a cheeseburger from room service for our child. Broken soap dispensers in public restrooms. Rooms were clean. Level concierge was friendly. Main area staff were much friendlier than Level staff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Nice, Quiet Family Vacation

Mar 27th, 2020

Truly, I am torn as to whether this resort was 4*. It was very nice, just not sure it was worth the 4* price, as there were a lot of small issues that add up? I will start with the rooms - we paid for 2 premium rooms, which basically means, not the ground floor. Our first rooms were 312 & 313. Our kids room was huge with double doors, 2 queen beds, a sofa, a fair amount of storage & a huge bathroom. Our room had a window & single door. King bed, next to no storage, a small bathroom & sofa. The building was close to the main area - not that anything is far. However, we went 2.5 days without internet & my husband needed it for work, so we needed it. When we called about it, we were told someone would look into it. The next day, when I called, I was told that there had been a problem in the building & they knew about it. I asked to be moved & they moved us to building 5. Building 5 - a much quieter building almost at the very end of the resort. We got rooms 513 & 515 - both rooms had double doors, our room was bigger & our kid's room had shrunk a lot. They now had 2 double beds, less storage & no sofa. The beds in building 3 were very comfortable. In building 5, the beds had 1 side that sloped so much, you had to hold on. My husband woke with back pain every morning, which he does not have normally. Also, the rooms could have used a really good cleaning - they were surface clean, but the coffee maker was dirty, there were finger prints on walls, door frames, etc. And, I am not a clean freak, but a bit of extra attention would have made the rooms more comfortable. So, no consistency in rooms, all of which cost the same. Internet worked great. Staff - a lot of the staff was really friendly (maids, wait staff in restaurants, gardeners), but several of them did not seem to want to be there & could have cared less about us. Room service - we used it 3 times - first time we were told 45 minutes, & it was close to 2 hours. All 3 times, our orders were missing something. And, when we called for an order, they were missing several things on their menu (no juice other than pineapple)??? Restaurants & bar - Rasta Pasta was our favourite & service was excellent. We sat outside 3 times & the staff (Patrick & Christina) were amazing. Go early because they don't take reservations. The buffet was a typical buffet - not great, not bad. Lovely open seating with a great view. The steak house was lovely, service was great, but the meat was way overdone. We had high hopes, as this one had great reviews, so maybe we were just unlucky? The burger place by the beach was closed for 3 days, so we were stuck with buffet, as there are no other lunchtime options. Our first meal there was really good, but the next time I ordered the same thing & my pork burger was filled with chunks of fat & hide with the hair still on it. Gross. The bar - unless you are in the pool, there is really only 1 bar. It needs some outdoor seating. Some of the staff were friendly, some not so much. And, we give tips. They do run out of the better alcohols often, so you drink what is left, or do without. But, the drinks that we did get were really good. Lots of variety & well made. Also, this is one of the few places we have traveled, in the Caribbean, where we could get a decent glass of wine, without having to pay extra for it. The beach is mostly for snorkeling - you need water shoes, as there is a lot of coral. It was rough the whole time we were there, so we didn't get to use the water toys. The staff works hard keeping the beach clean. There are lots of loungers, with lots of shade. we never had a problem finding 4 seats together at any time of day. Random stuff - This is a very small resort, not close to anything, so if you want solitude, you get it. However, it is expensive to go anyplace, as transportation is high. River tubing is the only thing close by - lots of fun. We really liked the arm bands that they give you, that have your room key coded into them. This made life so much easier - never needed to hunt for a key. The gardens were lovely. The gardeners could have used a bit more help to keep up with them, but they were really nice. The night shows were pretty decent - most resorts have fairly lame shows, but we enjoyed the ones that we saw here. And, security was great. We felt safe everywhere on the resort. So, mostly good, a bit of not-so-good. And, that is based mostly on the price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
