Amazing property

Jan 25th, 2020

We came to celebrate my mom's 70th bday. Best decision ever! We loved the dining options and the open air feel. Yoga on the beach with Gisella was phenomenal! The staff was great and so welcoming. I will stay here again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Gem In The Making

Jan 24th, 2020

We had the pleasure of staying at the Hyatt Regency at Coco Beach in Puerto Rico over MLK weekend. It’s a self styled 5 star resort, and while it’s not quite yet at that level with some minor improvements it’ll get there. Pros - As an Explorist we got upgraded to an ocean view room which was pretty spectacular (see photos). Check in was quick and smooth with a rum punch offered whilst we were waiting for a short time. The warmness and hospitality of the staff was a consistent theme. - The room itself is finished to a high standard, though I do have a minor quibble that the smart TV didn’t have a casting feature (it may be an idea to bring a Roku or similar with you, or indeed for the property to make some investments and have Rokus to rent etc). The bath tub and rainfall shower were superb. - The grounds are spectacular, in particular the pool area. The property is a little bit limited in what they can do with the beach and efforts were ongoing to clean it up but the pool more than makes up for it. The swim up bar and it’s pina coladas are excellent. There is some walking between your room and the various locations but you can call reception to send a golf cart to pick you up. I enjoyed the leisurely walks however. - Location is about an hour from San Juan but honesty I thought it perfect for a relaxing getaway. You can easily chill in the grounds but at the same time El Yunque, Luquillo and San Juan itself are accessible. There are a lot of activities to enjoy in the area if you feel like getting out and about. - Amenities are plentiful, the pool bar and taco truck are perfect for lazy no frills lounging. Paisan is a superb restaurant. The lobby bar has an eclectic cocktail list. Prices are reasonable for a resort ($4 for a small beer, $8 for a pina colada, $12 for fish tacos). The golf course is easily accessible and a good layout (though in poor condition during my visit). There are floodlit tennis courts also available. Cons - It’s still being finished so there are some rough edges. They are presently working on a dedicated spa building so that element will be improved I imagine. The beach area needs a little work. - The pool area waiters as mentioned in other reviews just aren’t on the ball at all. It wasn’t very busy and yet we still had to chase them for additional orders or to close out the check. The pool bar staff in contrast are excellent. - Parking for $17 a day is excessive. Particularly when one absolutely needs a rental if you intend on leaving the resort - Uber can drop off but not pick up and taxis are expensive. It’s a 4.75/5 star hotel that when it’s finished will be an excellent property to vacation in. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

All the bells and whistles with minor flaws

Jan 23rd, 2020

This place is truly a diamond in the rough! The rooms are big and they're of the cleanest I've stayed in. Granted it's new, the staff is super friendly/helpful and the views are to die for. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who's in search of paradise close to home. The only down side I found was the parking, even though there is plenty of parking it is located quite far from the hotel rooms or bungalows as they call them. The parking requires a trolly to transport you in event of bad weather or if you're carrying lots of luggage. With that being said a few times during our stay we called hotel lobby/receptionist and we're not able to get through after multiple calls. This place is a resort, anytime you call the main lobby there should be someone to answer the phones. We were often stranded and left walking to the car which is fine since we don't require any special assistance but would've been a huge inconvenience for anyone with a disability. Very thankful for Robert who is one of the tour guides/trolly drivers who helped us multiple times and made us feel super welcome! Pros: Cleanliness Views Pool Big rooms Friendly staff (Robert) Activities Cons: Parking Main lobby operators Accessibility TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unbelievably luxurious resort with friendly and helpful staff

Jan 22nd, 2020

I had an incredible experience at this resort last weekend. The enormous pool was gorgeous and relaxing, as is the long strip of beach (which was viewable from our oceanfront suite). Not to mention the pina coladas from the in pool bar were some of the best I've ever had! I found the staff went out of their way to be helpful and were very friendly. The spa services were also very enjoyable. Overall, the resort gave me a highly luxurious getaway from crowds and cold which was well worth every penny I paid. Also - I saw the poster below reference food being expensive. There are obviously cheaper food options in Puerto Rico, but I thought the food was excellent. In particular, the Pasion restaurant was a truly standout experience and was head and shoulders above all of the other food I tried while in Puerto Rico (I understand the head chef is well known locally). If you can't afford spending ~$500 to feed your entire family while on vacation, I'm really not sure why'd you stay at a Hyatt Regency and then repeatedly choose to eat on site. There are plenty enough cheap motels and cheap food on the island. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A long way to go...

Jan 21st, 2020

They are still in a rebuilding process, but their charges for food and beverages are astronomical. I feel like I got bent over and... well, you know. The bell-staff and the receptionists were great. Christopher at the pool bar was Awesome! But that was the end of hospitality and enjoyment. The $91 my family spent for a cheap breakfast buffet was ridiculous, and the other $400 spent on food was straight-up robbery. The lobby bar’s live entertainment was so loud we had to leave. The waitress could t hear us and got the order wrong, and my ears were nearly bleeding from the experience. I doubt we will return, which is a shame as some of the staff are great! Most, are not.
